Holiday Inn YORK by IHG

Found walnuts under the mattress near the edge, glad I don’t have a nut allergy or a family staying in that room with a toddler who has allergies. Could’ve ended up pretty serious if a small child had eaten a nut.

We stayed at the hotel for a family trip of 4, but the room was too small and connected to another hotel room with one door, and there was no soundproofing at all. The bathroom was too small and smelled of mould. There was hair on the blanket and in the bed and it was so uncomfortable.

Booked for 3 nights on strength of 4 out of 5 review. Within 2 hours of checking in asked to change rooms as we were put in a room that backed on to the lift shaft with no soundproofing and it was noisy with lots of clanging and banging. The staff were great and accommodated our request without hesitation. The next room we were given we had an issue with very loud music coming from neighbouring room. We informed the reception who promptly dealt with this. The rooms are very dated with lots of wear and tear. The mattress was uncomfortable and bigger than the base it sat on and had a stained valance. And the pillows were inadequate. There were no bin liners and the shower had mould and the shower control came off in my hand. The lobby and dining area are very good but the rooms are not. Didn’t eat there so can’t say what the food is like. We only stayed for one night out of the three and checked in to another hotel. This hotel needs investment, the rooms need to be refitted and the hotel needs soundproofing.

Lovely stay, staff at reception were lovely during both check in and check out, when I was leaving and couldnt book an Uber back to the station, the receptionist called the local taxi and they came asap! Room was clean and minibar well stocked, no complaints at all, thankyou Holiday Inn York!

The staff went above and beyond with the balloons and towel decor in the room for my Husbands 40th birthday. Thanks so much.. xx
