From my room, I could see Zhusheng Bridge and the Qinglong Cave ancient building complex. The rooftop cafe offers a beautiful night view, which is a big plus. The hotel 'housekeeper' (concierge/manager) was a very kind lady.
I pleasantly enjoyed my stay. The room was decorated well and a wide range of amenities were provided. The room was very clean and finished well to the final touch. Furthermore, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The most important, the room had a great view of the main bridge and is very near to other attractions like the museum. Overall, I properly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely book this hotel again if I ever come back to Zhenyuan Ancient City. It is very worth it and exceeded my expectations.

Upon arriving at the guesthouse, we discovered the pipes were undergoing maintenance, and we hadn't been informed in advance. There were an excessive number of mosquitoes, something everyone should really watch out for. It felt like the room hadn't hosted guests in a while, as there was some dust. What was quite frustrating was the extremely weak water pressure; showering was practically impossible, so we just made do. The facilities seriously need an upgrade. The location is excellent, right within the scenic area, and you can take the Wanfenglin sightseeing bus to various viewpoints. The hostess was very kind, and the breakfast was delicious, but the guesthouse's facilities really don't live up to the excellent service provided by the hostess.
What a great stay we had! We were there in off season in late December, but we fell in love with the town, the people and this hotel / B&B. We had a beautiful room with fantastic views on the fields. Everything was clean and in order. The breakfast was freshly cooked for us every morning and it was fantastic every time. The owners were so caring and welcoming, really a lovely couple that is also happy to share stories about the town and their way of living. Even picked us up at the entrance of the town and also brought us back there when it was time to leave. We recommend this place 100% and will come back for sure to this little paradise! Also the location is great, everything can be reached by foot easily.
I specifically chose to travel in May, avoiding public holidays, and the experience was exceptionally pleasant. The hotel's location is superb, right next to the observation deck, and the scenic shuttle bus stop is very close by. I didn't have to drag my luggage for a long distance, which was a relief since I initially read guides saying it would be exhausting carrying bags. Here, you don't have to worry about that at all.
The owner was incredibly welcoming and even came to pick me up personally. They also provided tips on how to explore the area. The room offered a spectacular view; opening the window revealed the entire Miao village. The room was clean and tidy. Being on the mountaintop, it was also quiet, allowing me to sleep in until I naturally woke up. During the day, the shuttle bus was nearby, making it easy to head down the mountain for sightseeing and photos. As night fell, I enjoyed a local specialty drink, accompanied by the beautiful nightscape of the Miao village. Such leisurely and comfortable moments were truly enchanting.
The room was great, with a balcony offering a view. At night, the balcony was illuminated by twinkling colored lights – beautiful! There was also a viewing platform upstairs. The hotel had Miao ethnic costumes available to wear, and the owner's wife was a fantastic photographer, taking beautiful pictures. The fruit and drinks were provided by the owner and placed at the front desk for everyone to enjoy. The owner also explained the scenic area's map, showing you the best routes, and sent the information to WeChat for easy reference. On the morning of check-out, the owner's wife boiled eggs and left them at the front desk for me to take. I was truly touched; it felt like being at a relative's house. The weather in the Miao village was a bit chilly in January, but my heart was warmed. The owner's wife also provided blankets, and the room had air conditioning, disposable face towels, and bath towels. The room was also very clean. The owners and their family were all friendly and kind, and there were two adorable cats. Deserving a 5-star review! Wishing the owners and their family great success and prosperity!
The wooden decor in the room is absolutely beautiful, and the swing is such a cozy touch. The mattress is incredibly soft, even softer than the ones at Huazhu Hotels in Guiyang, so I slept wonderfully. The noodles made by the auntie for breakfast were also delicious! The owner must be someone who loves cats and runs the place with great care. You can see the thoughtfulness everywhere in the guesthouse, which is a refreshing change from the commercialized main street. I hope they keep up the good work! The staff (young men) were also incredibly friendly – thumbs up! I even stumbled upon a traveler's diary in the room, which showed such great attention to detail and was truly touching. The only downside is that the bathroom could use an upgrade; it feels quite old. When I checked in, there was water on the floor, and even after they helped clean it, there was still water on the ground hours later when I returned to the room, as if it never fully dried. Aside from the bathroom, the room itself has a fantastic vibe. I absolutely loved the swing, the viewing platform, the small bar, and the excellent service. You could easily spend an entire day just relaxing at the guesthouse. However, it is located quite high up, so it might be a bit challenging for elderly guests or those with young children to climb.

We stayed for two consecutive nights. The location of the guesthouse was excellent, right in front of the Bagua Field. Every day, we could see beautiful rapeseed flowers just by opening the curtains. The service from the housekeeper was even better; when we came back late at night, they even worked overtime to prepare a hearth tea ceremony for us. If we had more time, we would have liked to stay for two more days.

The butler service at Fanjingshan Yunshe Courtyard is absolutely top-notch. Even before check-in, they proactively sent warm reminders and travel guides. Upon arrival, they helped with luggage and offered locally brewed welcome tea. When the weather turned cold, they brought extra blankets without us asking. Any requests were promptly handled, and their 24/7 attentiveness made us feel right at home.
The village where the courtyard is located, Yunshe Village, is truly a fairyland. Known as the 'First Tujia Village in China,' it's framed by green mountains, with the Longtan River winding through. Tujia wooden houses are reflected in the water, and flagstone paths connect fields and homes. There's no commercial hustle and bustle, just ducks and geese swimming, and windmills turning. Strolling through, the natural beauty and slow pace allow for complete relaxation.

GGuest UserThis riverside hotel is incredibly quiet, clean, and cozy. The views from the balcony are absolutely stunning, especially the breathtaking night scene. It's only a two-minute walk to the Old Town Pedestrian Street, which is super convenient. Qinglong Cave Scenic Area is directly across from the balcony, just a short walk over a bridge, making it very accessible.
__WeChat268472****The B&B is right by the river, making it easy to fall asleep in the quiet night! The room was also very clean and tidy. The owner was very kind and provided various travel guides. There are many delicious restaurants nearby, and the main street is right across the Flower Bridge, making it very convenient to go out for dinner! In short, it is highly recommended.
GGuest UserWe stayed here for a few nights. Overall, it was a positive experience.
Check-in: Smooth and easy. We were greeted warmly, and upon arrival, our room was upgraded — a nice bonus.
Room: Clean, with good-quality bedding. The room had everything we needed: air conditioning, towels, toiletries, bottled water, and a projector. Housekeeping was done daily and wasn't intrusive — we could stay in the room if we wanted. When we arrived, the weather was cold outside, so we slept under two blankets — it was warm enough. Hot water was sufficient for two people as long as we didn't shower for too long.
Location: Very convenient — just a few minutes' walk to the East Gate of Xiaoqikong Scenic Area and the bus stop. Plenty of places to eat, grab a drink, and buy daily necessities are nearby.
Noise level: We slept really well — it was quiet and peaceful, with only birdsong in the morning. There was construction going on near the hotel during our stay, but it wasn't disruptive at all; no noise in the morning or evening.
Drawbacks:
· There was a strong smell of cigarettes in the room. If you're sensitive to smoke, it's worth asking for a non-smoking room when booking.
· Although the room was clean, it was clear that the hotel is a bit older — not brand new, but still well-maintained.
Overall, if you're looking for a clean, budget-friendly option with a great location for visiting Xiaoqikong, this is a solid choice. We were happy with our stay.

DDutchindisguiseStay end Nov 2025 - solo traveler. The hostal is located in a touristic area with shops and restaurants, about 20 mins taxi drive from Kaili south high speed train station. Nice area. The property consist of a shop and upstairs dorm & guestrooms. Facilities: a common kitchen, bathroom w/squat toilet / shower and a common space aren’t new but good enough. Beds in dorm are hard wooden boards (a thick topper would be good..) lack a curtain & personal light but do have an individual socket and shelf.
Consider staying here in winter; there is no heating in the common space/kitchen/bathroom. Doubt if they turn on the airco heating at dorm during day & evening. When I stayed here, it was 1 day very cold and they allowed the airco in dorm to be turned on only at 21:00.
Is this a good place for foreigners to stay during other seasons? - I would say ‘yes’ but than again: I speak and understand some Chinese language. Kaili and surroundings (Miao villages) are lovely to visit but might be hard to get to as a foreigner without Chinese language knowledge. Unless you like a challenge and have enough money to pay for individual Didi taxis instead of shared ones.
The shop girls did their best, they helped me arrange a taxi to Langde, but they are not trained as receptionists so don't expect too much. I doubt if they speak English at all.
GGuest UserThe geographical environment of the hotel is superior, just two or three hundred places from the ticket gate of Shuanghedong Scenic Area, you can run early in the morning. The surrounding scenery is really comfortable! The parking lot uncle, the hotel receptionist, the restaurant waiter are very good and very enthusiastic, this point is a compliment! The hotel's facilities are indeed old. The faucet of the sink is swayed over and can't be fixed. The reel shelf for toilet paper is rotten directly. It is good to put toilet paper on the toilet. The ground is floor tiles, wet, slippery, easy to slip, this must be paid attention to, especially the elderly slippery is a fracture. To be honest, more than 1,000 room rates, if you look at the room facilities, I think it is worth more than 200! Breakfast is very good, that is, there is almost nothing to eat at nine o'clock, the sauce meat is delicious. Because of the geographical advantage of the hotel, I think the price is more than 500! More than a thousand still have to do a good job of accommodation facilities!
GGuest UserThis is a very cute room with Zen light qualities and a minimalist theme that complements the location. I spent hours just looking out the window admiring the scenery. I encourage you to do the same. People in this province are the friendliest and all of China. This is reflected in the hotel staff.Xijiang Miao Village it’s not an easy place to get to. It is not an easy place to leave. Therefore, the in keeper staff here went out of their way to make my journey a good one. When they were welcoming to the city, arrival in keeper tried to poach me away and had me climbing up 100 m of ancient carved stairs while carrying a heavy bag. I wanted to punch that person when I found out he was an impostor after climbing up to that altitude in sketch conditions. Be weary of such people upon arrival.
In contrast, this place is super nice and the staff is super nice . I highly recommend. But it is important to travel light when you visit this village the stairs can be very dangerous when wet, but they are super old.
GGuest UserA quaint,i think should be called homestay, run by a middle aged couple with excellent service.place was very clean (i think they had a recent renovation)
Mu room had a balcony with a view of the zucheng bridge(i hope i got that right).
The towels provided has a funny feel😄😄
They offered free flow of bottled water.
The place is just within a few minutes of the main street of the ancient town with plenty of eateries(though i feel they more or less offered the same stuff).
The whole street where this place is located are full of such small hotels.
This place is worth a 2nd stay if you are in zhenyuan again
FFatCatMiaoLady boss accommodated my multiple transport arrangement requests and provided recommendations to eat and to explore the village. Very patient, helpful and even offered me a boiled egg to go before I catch my train. Insisted on helping me to carry my suitcase up and down the stairs even though it's heavy and more than half her size. Accommodation is basic but more than sufficient for a lodging in a relatively small remote village area, towels, toothbrushes, body wash and shampoo provided. Western toilet and hot running water. Central location and close to the supermart and Souvenir area. Cosy guesthouse and most importantly, spectacular view! Very quaint and peaceful stay. If you're sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs as it's a wooden house so you can feel and hear movements, as well as chickens cooing in the morning, which didn't affect me. I absolutely love this place!
