Dorint Properties in Cologne

We stayed at Dorint Heumarkt during Pride Week. Superb location, next to U-Bahn and very close to main shopping streets, restaurants and Central Train station. Check-in was smooth, and overall good service. We were upgraded to the Comfort category and found the room spacious, clean and modern! Enjoyed the comfortable beds and great shower. The AC worked well in the public areas, but unfortunately was VERY warm in the room - it was set at 19C but felt like 25-30C! The windows were double sealed, which helped block the street noise, but made it stuffy in Summer time. Overall good experience and would return in cooler months.

Found this hotel on my route to the Netherlands, came in late after midnight the reception is open 24 hours and the gentleman working that night was very nice. Location nearby the highway, rooms are decent and clean.

It would be good to know that the city of Cologne charges a high city tax in addition to the accommodation price, which has to be paid upfront at the front desk. The invoice is only provided after check-out. The internet was overloaded and didn't work, making the in-room tablet useless. The staff could only offer standard apologies like 'I'm sorry.' The price was outrageous for what was offered! It's an outdated 3-star hotel with a tiny TV. The coffee was from the cheapest instant powder. The towels need to be replaced; they're completely worn out, even after multiple changes. Next time, I'll stay in a better hotel and give the exorbitant price difference to a taxi driver instead.
