Mersey River Chalets a Nature Retreat

Annapolis County
My family and I have just returned from a weekend at Mersey River Chalets. We rented both levels of the log house and 2 chalets. The complimentary canoes and kayaks were a definate bonus. Beautiful forest throughout, a boardwalk that follows the river with chairs at the perfect spots along the way.( Should have it lit up, though) There is a certain place in the river that we were able to sat in ,up to our necks in the current that we referred to as our ” happy place”. Very relaxing in the heat wave we are having (hottest place in Canada yesterday 💦 Keji is very close, and a store not too far away. Downsides- Tipi village is a bone yard now, only fallen down supports (They do have a few yurts which were very cool to see). House and loft: extremely hot, very few windows that open Bedding was provided for beds, but folded on top for us to make ourselves No garbage bags provided for a 3 night stay, except those in cans at check in Sofa bed but no linens, pillows or blankets. No housekeeping services at all, including garbage and laundry collection. Towels only by request at office daily. The smell of the grey water is really bad. Likely not a fault of theirs but not pleasant. The boat launch and swimming spot (on a lovely lake) are right on the front lawn of the house so others are in and out/driving around constantly. (We have 4 small children in the group which we had hoped to let free in the yard). The Housekeeping (?) Services are carried out in the bottom floor of the house (not mentioned on website). They have the parking spots closest to the entrance reserved for housekeeping. We had 3 flight of stairs to carry our belongs to the loft and back down,so did not need to start from way across the lawn in this heat! Yesterday morning we were wakened (at 9, fair enough) by maintenance services banging bags of pop cans around in our driveway out side the few windows we could open. The van they use for housekeeping has very loud exhaust, an annoyance for sure in the mornings. Ceiling fans which did little to help in this heat.Bring fans! No screen on patio door so we were unable to create airflow of any kind The chalets were perfect Long winded, I know but I just wanted you all to know what to expect if you rent the house.. We were disappointed but still had a great stay. Also to mention, all staff was very friendly especially the lady at the front desk
