The location is excellent! It's just a few bus stops from the train station, or a short taxi ride away, and it's not far from the city center. As soon as you enter, you can feel the backpacker vibe. The first floor is a common area with a lounge for relaxing on sofas and watching TV, and an entertainment area with a pool table. After checking in, the staff gives you sheets, slippers, and even a bottle of water (so thoughtful!). I was amazed when I entered the room – it's the largest hostel room I've ever stayed in, with a private bathroom and lockers for your belongings. On the third floor, you can hang clothes and even sit on the balcony to enjoy the breeze. I have to mention the group tours; the hostel organizes daily trips to Sayram Lake and Kuerdening Grassland. Their tour leaders are incredibly well-rounded (they know all the best places to eat, play, take photos, fly drones, drive, play instruments, and provide emotional support). Yining is a place you'll want to visit again, and Backpacker's Decade is definitely the place to stay when you're there. For backpackers, it's the absolute best choice for a trip to Yining!

The wind chime jingled as I pushed open the door. The front desk attendant looked up, smiled, and said, ”You're here.” It was as if she knew I was coming and had been waiting for me for a long time. Soft music played in the lobby. Someone was reading by the window, another person was napping with the sunlight warming their back. **Cleanliness:** The bedsheets smelled of laundry detergent, not that stuffy disinfectant smell. The corners were swept impeccably clean, and there were no water stains in the bathroom. I'm a bit of a clean freak, but I slept soundly here. When I came back at night, the auntie had already mopped the common areas again, the floor still slightly glistening. **Location:** It's in Liuxing Street, so Apple Alley is just a short walk away. To the left, there's Grandpa's baked buns, to the right, Grandma's ice cream, and across the street, Uncle's拌面 (mixed noodles) – all just a few steps away. In the evening, I took a stroll to the Alexander Accordion Museum, and on the way back, I bought two freshly baked, still-warm breads from the bakery. If I wanted coffee, it was convenient too, just around the corner. **Service:** The front desk attendant poured me a hot tea and said, ”Take a rest first.” Knowing I was traveling alone, she even asked if I wanted to join them for a trip to the surroundings tomorrow. In the evening, a few guys were sharing a meal in the courtyard and invited me to eat with them, without even asking if I'd pay. This kind of natural warmth really touched my heart. **Facilities:** The bed was large, and with the curtain pulled, it became my own little world. Each bed had an outlet and a lamp, so no fighting over them. The hot water was plentiful and had good pressure. The restaurant had a microwave and a water dispenser, so hot water was always available – so important for our Chinese stomachs! As for the atmosphere, everyone sat in the courtyard in the evening. Someone played the guitar, someone drank Wusu beer, and someone who had just returned from Mount Kailash shared stories of the snow and stars on the mountain. I just listened nearby, feeling that this was probably the meaning of travel – meeting people, hearing stories, and then continuing on your own path. As I left, the wind chime jingled again. The front desk attendant was busy, but still looked up and said, ”Travel safely.” As if she knew I'd be back.

This hostel has a strict no-smoking policy throughout, so the indoor air is fresh and the environment is clean and comfortable, completely free from any smoke smell. The rooms and common areas are cleaned daily by the staff. The owner and guests are incredibly friendly, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where everyone gets along well. There are daily activities like learning Uyghur and dancing, and the everyday interactions are heartwarming. The common areas are neat and cozy, and the facilities are comprehensive. It offers excellent value for money, provides a great sense of security, and is suitable for both solo travelers and groups. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit. Highly recommended!

Room is nice, good location which is near many food shop and on walking distance to Liuxing street as well as Ili passenger terminal for your daytour. And one bonus, it's quite near the airport that costs you less but more convenient!

Environment: Nice environment and atmosphere. I met some new friends here. The owner is also very friendly and enthusiastic. He introduced the surrounding environment. Facilities: Washing machine and kitchen are available, which is convenient for drying clothes. Service: The service is also good. When it's time for dinner, the owner will prepare the meal and invite us to eat together. I really felt the strong atmosphere of the youth hostel! Location: In the scenic area, far from the city center

Super nice hostel in the old city with a peaceful vibe. The rooms are excellent value for money, clean and well equipped. I had the best night's sleep I had in ages. The hostel is built around a courtyard with mature trees in the centre which keeps it cool in the day. There is a well equipped kitchen, free laundry and the atmosphere is friendly. If you are cycling or on a motorbike you can store these safely in the courtyard.

I had a great stay at the Gobi desert youth hostel. Firstly my room was upgraded and it was very clean, comfy and had an AC. The staff at the hostel were super friendly and welcomed me with some cold watermelon, which was just what I needed after a long bus ride from Tashkurgan. The staff also gave me great recommendations of local restaurants to go and eat. The food was super delicious. She also advised me about how to get to the airport and helped me do my laundry. The wifi was super fast. I felt well looked after during my stay. Next time I'm in Kashgar, I'll definitely come back here and recommend it to my friends too.

Great hostel to stay at for a short trip to Kashgar! It’s close enough to the Ancient City (about a half hour walk) and easy to get to both the railway station and airport by bus. The amenities here are great with good lounge areas, free laundry, place to hang laundry, and a kitchen! The bathroom situation isn’t great thought because the shower is right over a squat toilet. Also this isn’t the cleanest tidiest hostel with rubbish overflowing and and luggage strewn around the reception area. It’s not a big issue but be aware the hostel is definitely not as nice as the photos!

This hotel truly exceeded my expectations and deserves a huge thumbs up! From the moment I entered, I felt their sincerity. The receptionist was incredibly friendly, check-in was super fast, and she proactively introduced the hotel's facilities and nearby amenities, making me feel instantly warm and welcome. The room was an even bigger surprise. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by a light, pleasant fragrance, completely free of any unpleasant odors. The sheets and duvet covers were spotless, feeling incredibly comfortable to the touch. The pillows were the perfect firmness; I didn't want to get out of bed after one night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless, hot water came out instantly, and the water pressure was just right. The toiletries were all brand-name products, giving me peace of mind. The facilities were also impeccable; the air conditioning worked perfectly for both cooling and heating.

The location is great. The shower and toilet at 2nd floor need to be clean regularly. Also it helps to put curtains at both the entrance/exit because when you take shower, the wind/ cold air really send shivers down your spine. Please please fix the door at 209, 211. When you want to close the door from the outside, you have to pull to shut it and the bang can wake up the whole neighborhood.

RRay00The inn keeper was very nice, I arrived really late at night and was having trouble finding it because everything was closed. He helped me find it I booked a non smoking room, and after checking in when I said the room smelled he promptly help me inspect another room and change the room. Be aware, though they lost as having non smoking room, none of their rooms seems to be non smoking. But it was still good enough, the new room only AC smelled a bit but I think they cleaned it up after the first night cause second night the AC didn't smell . Considering the price at that location, the amenities and everything else was very good. It was generally clean. The rooms are small but I was a solo traveller, so it was fine for me. Many of the landmarks are really close by this hotel. So I had a comfortable time just walking around to them or commuting pretty comfortably. The ancient streets are close by, and there is local and chain restaurants and stalls all around.

GGuest UserHostel is about 5 - 7 minutes away from the ”Sports Centre” metro station, which is about 25+ minutes from the airport. The hostel entrance is next to the Tesla shop, and you have to press the buzzer, for the security guard to open the gate for you. Then, after writing your name down in the guest-book, you go up to the 10th floor in the lift. (Check the other reviews here, for a picture of the gate/door to the building) The staff speak little to no English, but they are very helpful. They will try to solve your issues, as long as you patient with the translation software. Also, it is difficult for staff to check you in, if you do not have a contact number or Alipay/Wechat contact. (This is a CN Govt requirement) The dorm rooms are basic and you may get the city views. There are no privacy curtains and there was no air-con, in my one. The hostel staff can provide fans, but we did not need any, as it was still cool at night. The beds are OK. There is a bathroom in the dorm room too, but there was almost no privacy for the bathroom, as there was a gap between the door for others to see and you can see through the frosted glass into the bathroom too! The hostel is relatively clean, quiet and well-located, except there may be other local guests, who are loud and smoke sometimes in the other rooms. Next to the hostel is a nice up-market shopping centre and with really lots to eat, in the food-court on the 3rd floor.

WWojiushinagedaxiaojieBoth the owner and the front desk staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. I found their courtyard on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) and loved it, so I decided to visit without high expectations. However, I ended up meeting so many like-minded girls at the hostel and we teamed up for several excursions – it was a delightful surprise for my long-term stay! Their beds are super comfortable, and the bedding is very clean. Entry and exit are secured by keypads, as are the lockers. The common areas offer KTV for singing, a mahjong machine, and plenty of board games to enjoy. Getting around is also very convenient; you can flag down a taxi or use Didi right outside, or walk a couple hundred meters to catch a bus.

OOverlanderElla / Shen, the owner is a very nice person and her DIY wine project is cool. The male dorm was nice and clean, the bunks had a good curtain and I was lucky with the people staying there, people were respectful with the sleeping times etc. and I think the instructions by the hostel helped with this. The instructions were definitely a good thing to have but they could be also developed more with the guest’s needs in mind, I would think how to make the things as accessible as possible and try to think outside of the box, try to see ot with the eyes of a foreigner that most likely struggles a lot with the local character system and finding their way around - very basic things. The client service is key here. Thank you for the stay, I wish all the best for the future.

SStuart McD.Lee was a great host, speaks excellent English, and was very helpful with suggestions on both things to do around Turpan and also border crossing how to info. The dorm was clean, and supplied with clean linen (make your own bed), and with an attached hot water bathroom. The lodgings are simple, but there’s plenty of space, and upon arrival I was invited to eat dinner (pictured) with Lee and some other guests—delicious! After dinner they screened a movie on an exterior wall. The location is midway between the station and Turpan proper, neither of which are comfortable walking distance, but taxis are cheap and easy to get. The hostel is within easy walking distance of one of the very interesting water irrigation museums, and there’s a good Uighur restaurant about ten minutes away on foot. If you’re on a budget, looking for a “traveller vibe” style place, and don’t mind the slightly out of the way location, this is a great option. Would stay here again.

Ee001162I booked this place based on the great reviews, and it definitely lived up to expectations. The fig courtyard is absolutely beautiful right now. I slept incredibly well, the kind of deep sleep where you wake up feeling completely refreshed. Both the mattress and duvet were super comfortable. The owner was also very welcoming and provided excellent service, offering tips on local attractions and unique small shops. Plus, the location is key – right in the heart of the old town, a three-minute walk to the West Gate. I'll definitely be back next time, and for a longer stay, as I didn't get enough time to explore!
