Good location: local market with cheap fruits nearby, many local food, quite close to metro. Big and comfortable beds with curtains. Everything is fresh and clean. Spacious rooftop. No towel is provided.

SONDERIA Hostel & Bar-Lazybones

I chose this hostel for my trip to Chengdu, and my stay far exceeded my expectations. The location is truly unbeatable. It's very close to the metro station, within walking distance, making it super convenient to get to Wenshu Monastery and all the major city attractions. Getting around was a breeze, and it's great value for money. I had a very comfortable stay. The room was clean and tidy, and the overall environment was quiet and peaceful, perfect for a good rest after a long day of exploring. The amenities were also very thoughtful, with a laundry room and a gym, which was incredibly practical for washing clothes and getting some exercise during my trip. The biggest surprise was the public area on the ground floor. By day, it's a quiet cafe, and by night, it transforms into a bar with a fantastic atmosphere. There are even live singers performing in the evenings – the 'cafe by day, bar by night' concept was right up my alley. Sitting down to listen to music and have a drink melted away a lot of my travel fatigue. I also met many travelers from different places here, including quite a few international guests. Everyone chatted about their travel experiences, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Overall, my experience was fantastic. It's suitable for both solo travelers and those with friends. I honestly recommend it to anyone visiting Chengdu.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard 5/5! As a girl travelling solo for the first time, I felt very safe staying and had a lot of fun. Even though it’s a hostel, the environment was comfortable and welcoming. One thing I really appreciated was the international power outlets, which was a huge plus for me. The hostel also offers transportation services to certain attractions and activities, making it very convenient for travellers. The location is excellent — being right next to Chunxi Road meant I could easily explore the city, try local food, and enjoy the area on foot. A special shoutout to the front desk staff, who were incredibly friendly and always happy to recommend places to visit. Their English was excellent as well, which made communication very easy. I would highly recommend this hostel to international travellers. If I visit Chengdu again, I would definitely choose to stay here again! ❤️✨

On The Way Hostel

The hostel was in a great location, near the metro and chunxi road. The bed was comfortable and you have a locker that you can unlock with your room key. However, the bathrooms were FILTHY. I stayed for 4 nights and every day and every night it was dirty ( counter full of things, old toothpaste tubes, wate splashed everywhere), toilets with overflowing bins ( squat toilets only) and smelly... Was cheap so can't complain too much but probably wouldn't stay here again. Seems to be mostly a chinese crowd who stays there long term as I was the only foreigner there my whole stay.

POSHPACKER Chengdu Mix Hostel - Cicada Zen Yard

I had a private room on the rooftop. Pros: the rooms are pretty clean and the bedding is clean. The bathrooms are separate and shared use, but the set-up of the ladies bathrooms is good, the shower area is private and you have your own space to change. The hostel organises a lot of group activities, so u can meet ppl if u wish Cons: the beds are hard and mattresses are thin. You will not be able to sleep on them. I ended up taking the doona from one bed and putting it on top of the other, and still struggled to sleep. Being on the rooftop, each room has chairs outside to sit and chill, this means that people come back at 2, 3, 5am or whatever and sit and talk/drink, and the sound goes right through the thin windows/doors. I had a nice stay here. The facilities were comparatively clean compared to other budget hotels in this region of the world. It is a bit hard to find though, I think this needs to be made clear to future guests. The hotel is BEHIND the storefront in the photo, you must go through the gate to the right of this spa. I would recommend this establishment to women visiting Chengdu on a budget.

I checked in on July 7th and it's been almost three weeks now. During my stay, I've experienced the Night Island 6-person dorm, the Light Island 4-person dorm, the Night Island 4-person dorm, and the Night Island 8-person dorm, so I've had a pretty comprehensive experience. Overall, it's better than any other hostel I've stayed at before. **Location:** It's inside a shopping mall and close to Chunxi Road. It's about a 10-minute walk to the subway station, which feels a bit far if you're lugging a suitcase, but it's acceptable. **Room Facilities:** Standard bunk beds. The privacy curtains are very good at blocking out light. There's a light, power sockets, and a locker for each bed. There's also a small shelf above the bed, but it's a bit high, making it awkward to reach things. The air conditioning is powerful, alternating between wall-mounted and central units, which makes for a very comfortable stay in the summer. On a side note, while the 4-person dorm has fewer people, I personally feel that the 8-person and 6-person dorms have more space and are more comfortable. **Bathrooms:** The number of toilets and showers is sufficient; I rarely had to wait in line. They are kept dry and wet areas separate, and there's toilet paper provided. There are coin-operated washing machines and dryers, as well as a dedicated vanity area, which is very female-friendly. **Common Area:** Decorated in a blue and white theme, giving it a fresh and minimalist vibe. You need to eat in the common area, and luggage and shoes are not allowed in the rooms. There's a designated area for luggage storage, and staff provide bags for personal items. There's also a terrace, refrigerator, water dispenser, and microwave available for use. **Cleanliness:** I saw staff cleaning in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Trash in the common areas was cleared promptly, and the overall cleanliness was excellent. **Service:** The staff are friendly, provide detailed check-in instructions, and clearly communicate the rules beforehand. I found the pillow too high, and after mentioning it, they quickly swapped it out for me. **Other:** I felt the soundproofing was decent. Lights are turned off at 11 PM, but each bunk has a small night light. In the bathroom area, after 11 PM, guests are asked to close the outer door to reduce noise, showing their dedication to maintaining a good sleeping environment. I'd say the price is upper-mid-range for hostels in Chengdu, with prices varying by room type and time of year. Disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, and earplugs are provided free of charge. **Summary:** This hostel is suitable for travelers on a budget or those traveling alone who are hesitant to stay in a hotel. It's also great for long-term stays, feeling a bit like university dorm life. It's not ideal for those who prioritize a sense of space, prefer solitude, or are sensitive to noise. Overall, the sense of security and atmosphere are good, and the attention to detail is evident. If you're okay with the rules of storing luggage in the common area and changing into slippers, you'll have a very comfortable stay here.

Chengdu is a fun city to explore, with a really comfortable pace. I'll definitely be back for more! This place is great; the booking was confirmed quickly, the atmosphere is fantastic, and my roommates were nice. The location is convenient for getting around, and the owner enthusiastically recommended local food and attractions. The value for money is exceptional. It's an excellent base for a trip to Chengdu.

Chengdu XiangPi Inn

I stayed at Chengdu XiangPi Inn for one night (April 14–15, 2026) and booked a bed in the 6-person male-only shared room. Overall, it was a solid budget-friendly option, but there are a few things worth noting depending on what you’re looking for. The biggest plus is definitely the price—you get exactly what you pay for, and for a short stay it does the job. The room itself was fairly basic but functional. The bed was decent enough for one night, and the space didn’t feel overly cramped despite having multiple occupants. That said, privacy is minimal, as expected in a shared dorm setup. Cleanliness was okay, though not perfect. The shared bathroom was usable but could have been maintained a bit better, especially during busier hours. If you’re particular about hygiene, this is something to keep in mind. The atmosphere was quiet enough when I stayed, and most guests were respectful, which made it easier to rest. Staff interactions were limited but smooth—check-in and check-out were straightforward without any issues. Overall, Chengdu XiangPi Inn is a practical choice if you’re traveling on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep for a night or two. It’s not luxurious, but it’s functional and reasonably comfortable for short stays.

This hostel was great for my layover and rest in Chengdu. I pretty much stayed here for two days and it was so comfortable; I got some excellent rest. The common areas are really nice, with outlets at every spot, and they even show movies at night with good clarity. I've stayed at one of their locations in Xiamen before, but this Chengdu one is a standalone building, which feels more private. The location is also convenient, just a ten-minute walk from Chunxi Road. The only slight issue was some noisy roommates who came back around 3 or 4 AM, making a racket, but that's not really the hostel's fault. I do hope they'll adopt the Xiamen branch's policy of not allowing outdoor shoes inside the rooms, especially this season, it can get a bit smelly! The Wuliguan hotpot next door smelled amazing every time I went up or down, so I had to try it – and it was delicious. I'd definitely stay here again if I come back to Chengdu.
