Reviews: EXPLORA III

Guest user2026-10-27

The cruise experience was excellent in every aspect, especially the spacious rooms, which surpassed most five-star hotels. The food quality was also superb, exceeding the standards of many restaurants. The most convenient aspect was that almost all meals and drinks were available on board; you could eat and drink wherever you wanted without additional charges, including tips (except for a few Michelin-starred restaurants). Areas for service improvement include promptly informing passengers of the ship's departure and arrival port information, especially if the original port information changes. During my recent cruise, I encountered a port change when boarding in Quebec City, and the berth was quite far away and not even visible. I couldn't get a response from the cruise line's WeChat customer service platform in China, and I eventually found out about the situation at the Quebec City Visitor Center.

Reviews: EXPLORA III

Guest user2026-10-26

Having sailed on the Regent SuperStar Virgo and MSC Magnifica, and also on the Hapag-Lloyd and Slieve Sea expedition ships, I was incredibly curious when I saw the Explora III, especially since this voyage started in Quebec, promising a perfect fall foliage season. When I booked, it was less than a month before departure, so there weren't many room options. However, I unexpectedly got room 10055, which had a great view and was conveniently located for the elevator and pool. These 10 days were incredibly relaxing; I explored every corner I could, ate at every restaurant, and attended every evening show. I didn't feel lonely at all; the food was great, the conversations were wonderful, and it was quiet and comfortable. The itinerary was superbly planned, especially the New York portion. I've been to New York many times, but I've never had the panoramic view of Manhattan at dawn and dusk from a ship. The attention to detail was also remarkable. When departing from Halifax, there were three large cruise ships at the pier, but only the Explora arranged a farewell with bagpipes, setting sail to soothing music – it instantly lifted my spirits. Special thanks to my housekeeper, Keith, whose care was truly meticulous and thoughtful. I've only selected nine photos to review, as it's difficult to express my genuine appreciation. All I can say is: there will definitely be a next time, to experience the most beautiful moments of wandering the world.

Taipei Food Guide

The culinary world of Taipei is a diversified food paradise, including traditional Grass Jelly Ice, Beef Noodle Soup, Taro Balls, Oyster Omelette, and the famous Pineapple Cake. Each food contains a unique flavor and profound cultural essence, showcasing the delicacy and innovation of Taiwanese cuisine.

Taipei Transportation

Taiwan's transportation infrastructure supports its role as a vibrant island hub, with Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) as the primary air gateways, alongside Keelung Port for sea arrivals. Most international visitors arrive by air, but ferries offer scenic options. Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), located about 40 km west of Taipei, is Taiwan's busiest international airport, handling long-haul flights from North America, Europe, and Asia, plus regional routes; it's the main hub for China Airlines, EVA Air, and STARLUX Airlines. The airport has two operational terminals connected by people movers, with Terminal 3's North Concourse partially open for added gates and capacity.  Transfers to Taipei include: Taoyuan Airport MRT (35–50 min to Taipei Main Station, NT$150–160, express service available); shuttle buses (40–60 min, NT$125–150 to key spots); taxis or private transfers (40–60 min, NT$1,200–1,500); or High-Speed Rail connections via Taoyuan HSR Station (transfer required). Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is situated in the central Songshan District, about 5–10 km from downtown Taipei. TSA focuses on local flights across Taiwan and limited regional routes to nearby cities such as Tokyo (Haneda), Seoul (Gimpo), Shanghai (Hongqiao), and Chongqing.   It's ideal for quick connections but handles far fewer passengers than TPE. Easy city access via MRT Wenhu Line (Brown Line, BR13 station directly at the airport, 10–15 min to Taipei Main Station); buses; or taxis.

Taipei Where to Stay

Taipei is a vibrant city with a diverse range of accommodation options spread across its many districts.

Taipei Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Taipei is during the months of October, November, and April. These months offer the best weather conditions, with lower chances of rain and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the city's natural beauty. October and November provide opportunities to witness the spectacular autumnal colors in Taiwan's nature reserves, while April brings spring warmth and less crowded attractions following the winter cherry blossom season and the Chinese New Year holiday.

Taipei Useful Guide

Mandarin Chinese is the official language of Taiwan, with Taiwanese Hokkien widely spoken in daily life, especially in central and southern regions, alongside Hakka and indigenous languages in specific areas. For tourists in Taipei, navigating with English is relatively easy - many people speak it, especially around popular tourist attractions. Bilingual signage and announcements in English are standard at airports, MRT stations, tourist sites, and major attractions.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
The night before disembarkation, affix luggage tags to all checked bags as instructed by the cruise operator and leave them at the marked zone outside your cabin. Do not pack items required for the next day such as daily wear, official documents and valuables into checked luggage. Retain your passport, room key and hand luggage with yourself. On disembark day, exit your cabin by the stated timing and proceed ashore in allocated groups per announcements. Avoid remaining inside the cabin. Inspect every drawer, closet and cabin safe thoroughly. Exact timings and baggage rules follow the cruise line’s Disembarkation Guide.

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

#cruiseholiday Hold onto your glitter, because Carnival Splendor isn’t just a cruise—it’s a floating ‘70s revival where the pink zebra-striped decor is wild, the dessert menu never ends, and the party lasts all night. I just got back, and my inner diva is still recovering. Here’s the scoop: First Impressions: Stepping into the Atrium felt like walking into a disco ball explosion—pink glass elevators, neon lights, and the smell of Pinnacle Steakhouse’s sizzling filets 🥩 mixing with Swirls’ soft-serve vanilla. The vibe? “Saturday Night Fever meets all-you-can-eat.” The “This Ship is SO Extra” Moment: The Cloud 9 Spa’s thalassotherapy pool—a giant saltwater hot tub where I melted like the chocolate cake I’d later inhale. But the real hidden gem? El Mojito Bar’s spicy watermelon mojito (ask for extra chili salt!). 🌶️🍹 Foodie Glory: Chocolate Melting Cake ruined me for all other desserts (I ate it six nights straight). But the *24-hour* Pizza Pirate’s prosciutto pie? A drunken masterpiece. 🍕 My “Disco Never Dies” Itinerary: ⏰ 9 AM: Seaday Brunch with maple bacon pancakes (because balance). ⏰ 12 PM: Twister Waterslide (screamed like I was on American Idol). ⏰ 4 PM: Serenity Deck nap (with a Miami Vice in hand). ⏰ 8 PM: Pink Zebra Lounge karaoke (Dancing Queen = mandatory). ⏰ 12 AM: Robusto Bar’s cigar lounge (felt dangerously fancy). Pro Tip: Book the steakhouse on embarkation day—it’s half-price! Also, Lido Deck’s midnight nachos are a sinful must. 🌮 Final Verdict: 20/10, left sugar-drunk, slightly hoarse, and already planning my next glitter-filled escape. Who’s ready to splurge on Splendor? 💃

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

I sincerely want to share with you that taking a cruise is really a must-try experience because it is too good to shoot and too much fun! I've been on two cruises, and every time I post or feed, my friends go crazy and ask, "Is the cruise awesome? Is it fun?" And I always have one answer – cool! 🎉 Every morning when you open the curtains, you will see an endless sea🌊, the sky and the sea are connected by a line. That healing feeling can never be found in the city. You will feel completely relieved of the pressure. My mood immediately relaxed, as if even breathing was much fresher. In addition to the scenery, life on a cruise is exciting: 🍽️ Food, basically from morning to night, the restaurant has a lot of choice, Western food, Chinese food, buffet, as well as desserts and cocktails, can completely satisfy your taste buds. 🎶 For entertainment, there will be performances, concerts, dance shows, and even a casino at night. 🏊 For leisure, you can take a dip in the pool, sunbathe on the deck, or relax at the spa. Most importantly, whether you like to take pictures or enjoy a leisurely vacation, a cruise is sure to satisfy you. Many photos I took at random, straight out without filter, has been beautiful to be 📷 Even just for these few photos, the cruise is worth the trip! What’s more, you can still see the sea and eat while feeling the vitality and romance of the sea. This is an experience that no other mode of travel can match at all. ✨ So, if you want a truly relaxing and fulfilling journey, Look no further – cruises are a must-try! #CruiseFirstExperience #CruiseTravel #CruiseVacation #HongKongCruise #RitzCruise #RitzCruiseLeadingStar #Kai Tak Cruise Terminal #Seaview #LifePhotos
