This grand, 18th-century waterfront hotel is located in Balestrand. It offers stunning views of the surrounding Sognefjord, an elegant restaurant and modern guest rooms. Free WiFi is available.
Guest rooms at Kviknes Hotel are located in the modern wing, built in the 1960s. Each features a separate seating area, work desk and cable TV. Many rooms have balconies with fjord views.
Guests can admire the historic art pieces and antiques inside Hotel Kviknes. The on-site restaurant offers international cuisine and a well-stocked wine cellar. Guests can especially enjoy the fjord views from the dining room and terrace.
Organized activities include wine tasting, cultural walks and day trips to area attractions such as the Urnes Stave Church. The surrounding area is ideal for fishing and hiking. Free public parking spaces are available close to Kviknes Hotel.
"Lovely place, charming area, wonderful brunch.
A nice peaceful respite in the middle of visiting cities in Scandinavia"
KKit manFor a tourist without car, it is in excellent location, 7 minutes to railway station to/from airport on foot with luggage n railway ticket just cost nok44 , walking distance to cable station to Floyen mount or Bergenhus or Ferry pier and shops. I reserved a small room but got a room of good size with windows and sofa. There are supporting staff in reception always and they can help me for my enquiries. They can provide electrical kettle at request. Coffee is free in lobby. Breakfast is also good , simple with good choices. I will reserve it if I will visit Bergen again.
FFrank1540The hotel is about a 13-minute walk from the train station, and its location is excellent! Right across the street is the fish market, which is super convenient if you want to try some fresh local food. Plus, it's only a 10-minute walk to the Bryggen UNESCO World Heritage site! It's a bit pricey, but I'd definitely recommend this Scandic hotel chain.
RRick SingaporeThis hotel has two different wings, an old and a new building. The better rooms are located in the new building with good beds. The old building has the lobby and restaurant which is more convenient. Will stay here again if boarding a cruise is my priority.
IIRIS YangwanchenWeekday breakfast is only served until 9:30 AM, and by around 9:00 AM, items are not refilled. I stayed for 3 days and there was no variety, and the selection even decreased over time. The location isn't great; it takes about a 7-minute walk to reach the bus, and a single trip costs 50 NOK. The room has no fridge or hot water, and the desk is tiny, making it impossible to place anything on it. Aside from the friendly service, if you're only staying for 2 days, there's really no need to stay somewhere this far out...
AAnonymous UserAbout an 8-minute walk from Bergen Station, and a 15-20 minute walk to the Bryggen area, this hotel boasts a great location. As it's a self-check-in hotel, the price point is very reasonable, making it perfectly adequate if you just need a place to sleep. It's clean, and even though it's self-check-in, you still see hotel staff around. I used the porter service for a fjord tour, and my luggage was properly stored in the baggage room.
GGuest UserWe found the Fretheim Hotel very pleasant upon arrival — from the beautiful entryway to the stunning views from our balcony and the delicious breakfast, it certainly makes a great first impression.
However, our room was a disappointment. Walking in, it felt outdated and somewhat cheap, which was surprising given the price of 2800 NOK per night. Essentials were lacking: no face washers, tissues, or shampoo were provided (the staff suggested using body wash as a substitute), and we had to specifically request a small bottle of conditioner. The old age of the towels was clearly apparent, and mold was visible on the glass wall at the edge of the bath.
Another unusual aspect was room temperature control: it’s managed from the main desk downstairs, and with no phone in the room, we had to go down late at night just to adjust it. We’ve never encountered this before.
The bathroom clearly shows its age — dated to the late 1990s — and it contributed to the overall feeling of the room being out of step with the hotel’s otherwise high standard.
In summary, while the hotel itself is charming and well-located, the room we stayed in did not meet expectations for the price and could benefit from updates and better in-room amenities.
GGuest UserThe old hotel has a sense of age, full of quiet atmosphere, many details and historic art paintings. Just next to the station, the traffic is super convenient. The breakfast is full and complete, and you can see the scenery and pedestrians outside the window.
NNtyjessicacacacacaNice!
They got me the highest floor which is great, and special type room, love it!
Most of the things u need are provided except slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste.
I think most rooms can see the pier view.
The first night, some birds, maybe, or someone shooting fireworks at my window making loud noises and I can see some flash lights out the window. Scared die me.
Food: free breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast was great, dinner ok but love breakfast more.
Trip.com says the bottle water are free, but in fact they will be charged. I didn’t notice that and took one, before check out, just saw the pricing list(ー ー;)
Location: a bit tricky to find the ENTRANCE! When u see the building, TUR RIGHT! To the right u can find the real entrance( the front one is no longer in use).
very convenient, located at the heart of Bergen, the Bergen museum is next to the hotel. The fifth photo is very close to the hotel. A few minutes walk to the mountain tram station.
By the way, u can ask the front desk and get the key for accessing the roof top( third and fourth photo)
AAToiI recently enjoyed a 3-night stay at Hotel No.13 in Bergen. While my room lacked windows, it was comfortable and cleaned daily, making it a pleasant place to return to after a day of travel. The absence of a window didn't bother me much, as I spent most of my time exploring the city. The check-in and check-out staff were notably friendly and helpful, which added to the overall positive experience. The daily breakfast included in my rate was basic.
What truly stands out is the hotel's convenient location which is near Byparken Station and walkable distance to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen one of the most popular tourist attractions in Norway. It is a historic wharf with colorful wooden houses dating back to the 14th century.
GGuest UserHad a fantastic stay in Bergen at the Bergen Bors Hotel! Very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff at reception, breakfast and in the Fresco Hallen restaurant - excellent food. Great room; clean, with super facilities and cleaning services. Room was quiet, with great mattresses, duvets and pillows. Location of hotel is amazing, and could easily explore great sights in Bergen on foot. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and definitely planning return visit - thank you!!
