This hotel is small but has everything you need. It's comfortable and clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly. They always greet you with a smile and a nod when you enter the lobby, which is a nice touch. On the first floor, they serve a complimentary breakfast buffet in the mornings, which I found to have a good variety of options. At other times, it seems to be available as a reservable study room (I'm not sure if there's a fee) with free tea, perfect for reading or working. Its location right next to Saga Station is super convenient. Supermarkets and restaurants seem to be concentrated in this area, and the bus center is also nearby. Overall, it's a really good value for money hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Saga for a leisurely trip.
Green Rich Hotel Tosu is our first choice hotel in Tosu area. Location is very close to JR Station, many restaurants and supermarket nearby, very quiet at night, feel safe walking around.
We will stay again in Green Rich Hotel Tosu if we visit Tosu next time.
This is a sauna resort, where you could have access to the sauna and then have some food at the lounge after a whole day's work.
The rooms are traditional Japanese-style beds and design, with a little balcony looking at the ocean view.
For the breakfast buffet, I am extremely satisfied, where the cleanliness and hygiene are very good, and the food taste is also delicious. It is an international style buffet, having different kinds of food from different countries, but the resort still insisted on keeping the Japanese corner, in which it is my very first time to try out such a high-quality Japanese standard breakfast in my whole lifetime, and I would say it is really amazing and worth coming again!!
English is very convenient, many English instructions, but the front desk staff's English is general, check-in is also self-service in English, you can ask if you mind. I lived opposite Mercure the day before. The sea view view is not as good as this river view (including Tangjin City view). It is very beautiful. There is a light view at night. There is a small public bath on the first floor. It is so pleasant! Cost-effective choice! The room is warm, there are some, interesting is that the refrigerator is also independent (with English instructions). I stayed for one night without room cleaning. This seems to be cleaned every three days. The garbage can be placed in the corridor. Many Japanese hotels are like this. There is a fast food restaurant next to it, walking distance to JR station, going out is the riverside, a good place to walk. There are (paid) bicycle rentals in the hotel instructions, I did not ask in detail. There are many self-collected items in the lobby, and the English logo has free coffee in the morning, but I left the store earlier and did not use it.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, especially if your budget allows for it!
The room windows offer direct views of the moat, and the hotel is incredibly close to attractions like the hot air balloon festival grounds and shrines.
**Transportation:** From Saga Station, you can take the Showa Bus (towards Karatsu) directly to the hotel. Alternatively, the most convenient option is to simply take a taxi.
**Service:** I absolutely have to commend the hotel's front desk staff! They were an enormous help! Due to heavy rains in the Kyushu region, I found myself stranded in Saga and had difficulty getting around. I wanted to arrange for my luggage to be sent directly to my next hotel in Fukuoka. A lady wearing glasses at the front desk was exceptionally helpful in assisting me with filling out the Takkyubin (luggage delivery service) forms. Even though the courier company ultimately couldn't guarantee delivery to my next hotel before my departure due to the heavy rain, the hotel staff's assistance was invaluable and greatly appreciated!
**Dining:** When it's too hot in summer, taking a break at the hotel's first-floor cafe, sipping coffee and enjoying the views, is a fantastic way to relax. (The Baumkuchen is delicious!)
KARAE HOTEL boasts an incredibly convenient location, right in front of Karatsu Station. The ground floor connects to a cafe, a Chinese restaurant, and a creative Japanese Omakase spot. Izakayas, the century-old Takeya Unagi restaurant, and a tofu shop are all within a 5-minute walk and offer delicious food. Upstairs, there's even a mini cinema and co-working space, so you'll never be bored, even on a rainy day.
I stayed in a female dormitory bed, and the space was well-designed, simple, and clean, with no strange odors. Each bed had a curtain for excellent privacy, and the mattress and pillow were very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. There were power outlets and a small lamp by the bed, along with a space to put your phone and valuables – the details were very thoughtful.
The public areas are also worth mentioning. The toilets and showers are separate and very clean. The communal kitchen isn't large but has all the basic facilities for simple heating or making instant ramen. The laundry room has coin-operated washers and dryers, making it convenient for longer stays.
The entire space is quiet and welcoming, perfect for solo female travelers. Double rooms are also available for couples or families. Downstairs, it's just a 3-minute walk to catch a bus to Yobuko, Karatsu Castle, and Niji-no-Matsubara. The service is very personalized and attentive.
Booked an ocean view room (with breakfast and dinner) to celebrate my husband's birthday, tried to ask the hotel a few weeks before departure if a cake could be prepared, was rejected, and no other options (such as ordering a cake on behalf of others are also possible) or arrangements were offered. On the day of arrival, there was a welcome cake for guests 😅, I didn't understand why I couldn't help prepare a birthday cake. This hotel is not recommended if you want to celebrate a birthday or special day.
The rooms were large and the sea view was beautiful, but the quality of the restaurant's buffet dinner was average, and the food and service were really disappointing for a 4-star hotel. The stay was sparsely populated and the occupancy rate seemed not high. Delayed check-out for an hour, the charge is JPY6050, which is quite expensive. overall experience average, stay once is enough, will not return visit.
The hotel was very basic and had everything we needed. Close to the train station and near restaurants you can't go too wrong. The only issue was the strong bleach smell we first encountered when we entered the room, and the walls were super thin. We could hear our neighbor coughing and snoring.
Nicely designed hotel. But rooms are small and tight. Not easy to walk around. Location a little off the center of Saga City but lots of car parking available. Service was good and helpful. And you can even buy a fireworks and play!
Finding a room of this size and at this price in Japan is incredibly rare. The sink area can be separated from the bed by a sliding door, and both the shower and toilet are in their own separate spaces.
The hotel service is very thoughtful and I-person friendly, largely self-service. They provide disposable chopsticks and spoons for free, and there's coffee in the lobby, along with amenities like a microwave. There's also a communal long table area for guests to eat or relax.
While you have to use the main entrance for check-in, you can then use a side door with a key card to quickly access the train, bus, or taxi stations, essentially teleporting you to the platform.
From here, buses can take you directly to two different hot springs in various directions nearby. There are also buses to the Sea Torii Gate and Inari Shrine. Knowing the timetable makes getting around very convenient.
Within a 10-minute walk, you'll also find drugstores, supermarkets, convenience stores, and Daiso.

GGuest UserI recommended traveling to Ureshino bus center (not interchange*) by bus from Hakata bus terminal if you weren't driving. I stayed in their standard room type. Bathing at their shared onsen was an experience. The facility was very clean. Ureshino onsen water would be what you came here for. The amenities were nice too. They offered excellent breakfast at 2,200 yen. It was a buffet line using local ingredients. While in the area try Yococho, izakaya sampo, and buy some ureshino green tea.
MMasamichi[Best hotel for travel and business use]
Located in front of Imari Station (about 1 minute walk from JR side), it is convenient for travel and business use anyway.
In addition, there are many thankful elements such as hot spring facilities, free of charge for guests, and free drinks and breakfast after check-in.

AAnonymous UserThe hot spring water was wonderfully silky smooth, and the bathhouse wasn't too crowded, making for a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The outdoor onsen was particularly fantastic. The dinner, part of the half-board plan, wasn't very extensive, and it was a bit disappointing not to be served Saga beef, especially being in Saga Prefecture. However, the breakfast quality was excellent.

LLebalemaA great hotel with only 16 rooms. We booked 2 rooms, one with an outdoor hot spring facing the sea, and one with a bathtub. We booked a one-night stay with two nights. Dinner included large shrimps with bamboo crabs, especially the crab roe rice, which was very special.
The hotel facilities are also good, the rooms are large, and there are rest areas.
The only drawback is the transportation, there is no public transportation. We drove by ourselves, and the hotel could also pick us up at the nearest station on the same day.
GGuest UserThe hotel is a quick 180 yen bus ride from Ureshino Onsen Station. Check Google Maps for bus times, which are quite accurate. Trains (Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen) run infrequently from Ureshino Onsen Station, however. The hotel's 10th-floor hot springs offer a great view. Free bicycle rentals are available for exploring the surrounding area.
GGuest Uservery lovely place! it is new (opened in July 2025). The service from when your car is in the porch (There's a valet), till check out, it was perfect. The onsen was great. It's not as warm as the others but it makes staying in the onsen longer possible. Was pleasantly surprised about the complementary dinner and breakfast! Dinner was great and was paced out so it was just nice. For breakfast it was a buffet spread that was great! I love the selection and freshness. It is in between mountains so the drive might be long but so worth it for the price

GGuest UserThe ocean view bathtub room was so nice, and the private open-air bath was even better. I couldn't use the large bath because I missed the time check, but that's a shame. The staff were also very kind. However, if your purpose is to tour Karatsu, not just spend a leisurely trip at your accommodation or walking around the town, it's a bit far from the tourist attractions, so please think carefully about your schedule.
