The hotel is located within walking distance from the station (but NOT with ski equipment) at the Ylläsjärvi side of the resort. I have to say that the reception staff was friendly beyond expectations and the breakfast was also better than average (especially when compared with other Finnish hotels).
I could go again. We had a room with in room stairs to the loft and those were extremely steep and hard to climb for an adult. Anyway, kids were happy to get their own nest from the upper level. As always, Finnish hotels rarely are equipped with decent cooking during the summer months. I have no doubts that during the winter the rooms will be warm but during the hot summer days they could be cooler.

We stayed in an igloo. Although it was cloudy and we couldn't see the aurora, we felt very peaceful and relaxed when we lay in bed and looked up at the sky and the surrounding environment. The receptionist was very friendly and proactive in helping us. When we took photos by the stove, she took the initiative to light the firewood, which added to the atmosphere.

It was an experience out of the world during our stay here. We arrived early wanting to drop our bags but they allowed us to check in early anyway as our room was ready.
The cabin itself was clean and spacious enough for 2 people. The bathroom floor was heated which was nice. We got to even see the northern lights from our bed even though it only lasted for less than a minute. One thing to note is cabins are located quite near to one another and with the glass panels, you don't get total privacy. Make sure to request for a cabin off the stretch of main road to have more privacy.
We had breakfast and dinner here. Options were quite limited but understandable given the location. All dishes were labelled clearly, and we had no issues as vegetarians. We even saw some neighbourhood squirrels enjoying their breakfast.
The place is very modern and managed commercially as a business, with everything extra requiring extra charges (you may even pay for staff to pick up your bags from your cabin to the main reception, which is a 2-5 min walk affair).
Despite this, we think it's still worth trying out for a night to have something that's different.

A nice hotel with good breakfast. My family of 4 adults were enjoyed our 2N stayed there. However, there are rooms for improvement on the room door key system and the lift. They are too old and inconvenient to use in today’s environment. Even thot it is functionally working. The door is hard to open and closed with the key, where the cards system will be a better choice. The lift is too small for guest.

I like the atmosphere of this hotel and it has a sense of tranquility. It is very convenient to buy some winter activities in the hotel. There is a lady at the counter who can speak Chinese who is very kind and gave us a lot of information and assistance. Thank you very much for her. In addition, the room is very comfortable and there is a lot of space. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to enjoy the view, and the room also has a sauna which is great

AAToiI recently had the privilege of staying at Apukka Resort in Rovaniemi, Finland, and it was undoubtedly the highlight of my Scandinavian journey. From the moment I arrived in this snowy wonderland, with daily temperatures around -7°C, to my cozy cabin room, everything about Apukka was simply amazing.
Having to see the mesmerizing Northern Lights from my bed was a dream come true. The comfortable bed, warm water, and the delicious food served at the restaurant made each moment special.
The view of the frozen lake was nothing short of magical; it felt like stepping into an AI painting turned real. Even in the cold, I had one of the best swing rides of my life with the view of the lake.
As someone from warm and sunny Singapore, this escape to the cold was a unique and unforgettable experience. The reception team at Apukka was top-notch, and they even had a room ready for me when I arrived slightly earlier than check-in time, which was a great relief after my long journey from Copenhagen.
But it wasn't just the accommodations and the views that made my stay exceptional. I also had the pleasure of experiencing a thrilling husky ride and learning about how these incredible dogs are trained from puppies to their role as working animals. The passion and knowledge of the guides who led this adventure were truly remarkable.
The 'Meet the Reindeer' session was a delightful educational experience. I gained a newfound appreciation for these magnificent creatures and learned so much about their role in the local culture and environment. The guides who accompanied us during the husky and reindeer experiences were nothing short of amazing. Their expertise and enthusiasm added a whole new dimension to the trip.
Apukka Resort delivered a magical and unforgettable experience. The comfortable bed, the regular appearance of the Northern Lights, the enriching encounters with huskies and reindeer, and the exceptional guides all contributed to making this trip one of the best times of my life. The hotel is on the side of the river in River Juutua, you can see the beautiful view of the river in the restaurant and room, first-class enjoyment! The front desk clerk was happy to answer our questions, and some were smiling! The waiters and food in the hotel restaurant (Aanaar) reached the level of a 5-star hotel. When serving, each dish will be explained, what is its main dish, side dish and juice! The most unfortunately, the thermostat does not have temperature, and the weather is not too cold. There is a hot tube for drying clothes in the bathroom, and the wet clothes are drying quickly!

I book an Apartment for 2 nights for this stay but I got the room for 1 night each. Staff told me I have to change room tomorrow and check out at 12PM.
So that mean first night I stay and tomorrow check out 12PM and wait for a new room. Also, the apartment is very far from reception. Luckily, I have a car. Imagine if I don't have a car, I have to carry big luggage from the apartment to reception to check out and wait for new room later and move my luggage to new room again, how was it?
Moreover, when I check out at 12PM staff told me the room will ready for check in around 2 hours. Then came back to check in again for second at 3PM another staff told me the room is not ready yet and policy for the Apartment check in time is 6PM. ***!!! I said I need the room now because this is unacceptable. Then staff told me the room is ready and give me the key card.
So, for this situation I waste the time for half day to pack my luggage, move a lot of luggage to my car with a lot of snow, check out, go to reception for check out, wait the new room, wait, wait, wait, and come back to check in and got very bad answer that she told the room is not ready, and go to check in again, move my luggage to new apartment with a lot of snow, and take a rest. VERY BAD!!!!!

AAngelaFlyingAwesome service, the front counter guy is really nice and patient to help us in any quires. The room is clean with nice sea view. Feeling quite well to see the sky stars when lying down on the bed in the night and the morning sky is super beautiful. Plus, the hotel price includes free tickets for experience 365, we enjoyed a lot there. .

All the necessary shop and restaurant are closed and round the corner. I would choose this hotel again if I come again. Thanks for storing my luggage from morning until close to 6.30pm

CChris LumThis was a great location slightly out of the city to catch the Northern Lights without going on a tour (we saw it two nights out of two)! The glass cabins were well kept and clean, we were two adults and two teens and there was enough space for everyone. Note that this resort serves only five cabins and no one else, so the exclusivity is unsurpassed! It is also beside a frozen lake and you can walk to the middle to catch the auroras. A lot of nature activities to occupy the family in the daytime. Some recommendations would be the sauna+frozen lake dip, ice fishing and hiking to the rock church. The founder of the resort, Theo, is ultra friendly and nice and all the staff there (shoutout to Millie and Guillaume!) really go above and beyond to help make our stay there so memorable. All the photos uploaded I took with just my iphone16. All in I was extremely happy we chose this place for the Rovaniemi leg of our trip.

AabihroyIf you want a place that's out of the way, with strong potential for seeing the northern lights, this is the spot! Fantastic service—you can arrange for collection and/or drop-off at the nearest airport or bus station. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the surroundings are magical in the winter—perfect for walks in the snow and pretty photos. The norther lights showed up AMAZINGLY one night, and a little bit the other night we were there. The food was excellent and varied, and we were glad we chose half-board, as the location is quite far from anything else...but that's the magic of it. We didn't do any of the excursions, but there were so many options! If you want to get away in a place that feels like a winter fairytale, this is it!
