This all-inclusive private guided day tour is designed to take you to two iconic heritage sites—Mutianyu Great Wall and the Ming Tombs—in a single day, allowing you to dive deep into their historical significance and cultural value during the Ming Dynasty. To meet diverse travel preferences, we offer two tailored packages for this tour:
Package 1 covers a visit to Mutianyu Great Wall, plus a choice between Dingling Mausoleum and Changling Mausoleum (the most representative mausoleums of the Ming Tombs complex);
Package 2 adds a stop at Sacred Way—a scenic spot with close ties to Ming imperial culture—to the itinerary, along with the same option to select either Dingling or Changling Mausoleum after exploring Mutianyu Great Wall.

Your tour commences with a private driver and certified guide greeting you at your downtown Beijing accommodation. Both service providers will be exclusively assigned to your group for the full day, ensuring a personalized and streamlined experience. The driver will operate a well-maintained, air-conditioned vehicle for all transfers, while the guide will provide a brief pre-visit overview of Mutianyu Great Wall during the journey, helping you prepare for the upcoming exploration.
Upon arrival at Mutianyu Great Wall, the guide will assist you in selecting between the cable car or ski lift (chairlift) for ascending to the wall, explaining key differences in terms of viewing angles, travel time, and comfort to support your decision.
Once on the wall, the guide will lead you through designated watchtowers and preserved sections of the fortification, detailing its architectural features and functional role within the Ming Dynasty's military defense network. You will also gain insights into the ancient beacon fire signal system—specifically, how soldiers transmitted military alerts via smoke (during daytime) and flame (after dark) to communicate across long distances.
Following the guided tour segment, you will be allocated dedicated free time to explore independently, capture photographs of the wall and surrounding landscapes, and immerse yourself in the site's grandeur.
For descent, if you opted for the cable car, you will return via the same mode; if you took the ski lift, you may choose between the ski lift or toboggan (a downhill amusement ride) for a more dynamic experience. Please note that in the event of excessive waiting times for the toboggan, the guide will recommend alternative descent options to ensure itinerary efficiency.

After concluding the Mutianyu Great Wall visit, stop for lunch (included in the all-inclusive package), where you can recharge before proceeding to the Ming Tombs.
The transfer to the Ming Tombs follows a mountain route, which offers scenic vistas—particularly during autumn, when the area is adorned with vibrant foliage, and distant sections of the undeveloped Great Wall may be visible, providing a unique perspective of the site's natural integration.
Upon arrival at the Ming Tombs complex, the guide will deliver a concise introduction to the site: a sprawling imperial mausoleum area housing 13 Ming Dynasty emperors, with a limited number of mausoleums open to the public. We prioritize Dingling Mausoleum as the recommended visit—it is the only fully excavated imperial mausoleum in China, and the guide will lead you through its key attractions, including the on-site exhibition hall (showcasing unearthed cultural relics such as imperial regalia, jade artifacts, and ritual utensils that exemplify Ming Dynasty craftsmanship) and the underground burial chamber (the resting place of Emperor Wanli and his two consorts, where you will learn about the mausoleum's structural layout and historical context).

For guests with mobility limitations, the guide will suggest Changling Mausoleum instead—the largest and best-preserved mausoleum in the complex, renowned for its grand above-ground architecture.
For guests who selected Package 2, the itinerary will incorporate a visit to the Sacred Way (the ceremonial entrance to the Ming Tombs complex) for a brief stop, where the guide will point out its iconic stone sculptures (24 animals and 12 officials) and explain its role as the imperial path leading to the mausoleums.
Upon completion of the Ming Tombs visit, the driver and guide will transfer you back to your downtown Beijing accommodation.
