Product details

If you only have one day to explore Beijing's top attractions, this exclusive private tour is the perfect choice—it covers the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace, all of which are UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites, and includes all entry tickets, lunch, an English-speaking guide, and private transfer to ensure a smooth, comfortable experience. Your day will start with your privat guide and driver picking you up from your hotel, ready to take you through Beijing's most iconic landmarks.

First, you will visit Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City. We provide additional free commentary on Tian'anmen Square—your guide will take you through the square, explain the historical significance of its surrounding buildings (such as the Tian'anmen Rostrum, the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, which you will view from the outside), and share their roles in China's history.

Afterward, you'll pass through Tian'anmen Rostrum and enter the Forbidden City via the Meridian Gate (Wu Men); as China's imperial palace for over 500 years during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture and a symbol of imperial history, and your guide will take you to its most important sites along the central axis, including the Outer Court's Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony, and Hall of Preserving Harmony (the heart of imperial governance) as well as the Inner Court's palaces (once the private living quarters of emperors and their families), sharing stories of dynastic life and historical events that shaped the nation. You'll finish your visit to the Forbidden City at the Imperial Garden, a serene retreat that showcases traditional Chinese garden design.

Next, you'll move on to Temple of Heaven Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built for emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship Heaven and pray for good harvests—this sacred complex blends intricate architecture with natural landscapes, and your guide will take you to its highlights: the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (an iconic circular building with a blue-tiled roof), the Single-Arm Bridge (a long, narrow walkway leading to the main temples), the Huangqiongyu (Imperial Vault of Heaven) where you'll learn about the science behind the Echo Wall (a structure that amplifies sound), and the Circular Mound Altar (Yuanqiu Tan), where you can stand at the center stone and experience the “echo of Heaven” just as ancient emperors did, while your guide shares tales of imperial rituals and the park's historical importance.

After exploring the Temple of Heaven, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch (included in the tour) to recharge before heading to the Summer Palace—the third UNESCO World Heritage Site of the day, and one of China's most famous imperial gardens, with a history dating back over 800 years (it was expanded and renovated by emperors of the Qing Dynasty, most notably Empress Dowager Cixi, whose influence on the garden and on late Qing history will be a key part of your guide's commentary, details you might miss if visiting on your own).

Your guide will lead you through the Summer Palace's most significant spots: the Hall of Benevolent Longevity, which served as the emperor's office and reception hall for foreign dignitaries; the Hall of Joyful Longevity, once Empress Dowager Cixi's main residence, adorned with luxurious furnishings that reflect imperial life; and the Long Corridor, a 728-meter-long covered walkway lined with over 14,000 colorful paintings depicting scenes from Chinese myths, history, and literature—your guide will point out famous stories behind these artworks, bringing the corridor to life.

Finally, you'll reach the Marble Boat, a Western-style stone structure that was originally built as a symbol of imperial stability (it was designed to “never sink,” even amid political turmoil), and your guide will explain its unique design and role in the palace's history.

After concluding your tour of the Summer Palace, your private driver and guide will safely take you back to your hotel, wrapping up a day of immersive exploration of Beijing's most treasured cultural landmarks.
