▲Push open the vermilion palace gates and step into the world's largest existing wooden palace complex. Gaze up at the nine-ridged, double-eaved roof of the Hall of Supreme Harmony and feel the solemnity of the "Emperor in the Center" ritual; stand on the golden brick and jade steps of the Palace of Heavenly Purity and glimpse the governing saga of the 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties; wander through the Treasure Gallery and marvel at the shimmering light of the kingfisher feather phoenix crown and the splendor of the Golden Cup of Eternal Stability. Every glazed tile speaks of the architectural wisdom of "harmony between man and nature," and every coffered ceiling seals the mysterious code of Eastern aesthetics.

▲Heading north from Shenwu Gate, ascend Jingshan Hill to Wanchun Pavilion. Here lies the golden vantage point overlooking the Forbidden City—the entire palace unfolds before your eyes like a gilded chessboard: golden tiles stretch like dragon scales, and the central axis runs like a jade belt connecting heaven and earth. Especially at sunset, watching the afterglow drape the palace in a rosy veil, it's as if history is floating and sinking in a sea of shimmering light.
