Itinerary
Learn how to make popular Japanese dishes in the heart of Kyoto. Make homemade style of ramen, gyoza, and onigiri with the help of friendly English-speaking instructors.

Start by learning how to make rich and flavorful soy sauce and miso ramen broth. Acquire the perfect gyoza filling, balancing meat, vegetables, and seasonings. Master the technique of wrapping gyoza for the ideal shape and seal. Stuffed with a variety of fillings and flavors, onigiri, or Japanese rice balls, make an ideal quick snack and a fun alternative to sandwiches for lunch.
With the recipe and your experience, you'll be able to make ramen, gyoza, and onigiri for your family and/or friends at your house.

[About Ramen]
In our cooking class, we focus on the ramen broth. You can usually find ramen noodles near your place, but not the soup. That's why we will teach you how to make authentic Japanese ramen broth!
(*We do not make noodles in this class. Instead, we will show you how to prepare delicious broth with ingredients and seasonings you can easily get at home.)

[Toppings of Ramen]
· Miso Ramen: boiled egg, bean sprouts, green onions, and sweet corn
· Shoyu Ramen: chicken, bamboo shoots, and green vegetables

As you can see, we use simple ingredients for ramen toppings. This is the typical style, both in restaurants and for homemade ramen. Toppings should not have a strong flavor, because the broth already has a rich taste. A good balance between broth and toppings is very important. That's why we only use simple toppings, such as vegetables.
