The rooms were a little dingy and some mould and stains on grout, true to what other reviewers mentioned. However, apart from wear and tear, the hotel has tried to keep it clean and serviceable. Overall, it felt well loved, but was clearly a shadow of its past glory. Needs some tlc and a lot of refurbishment. The gantry doesn’t work, so you must walk out to the gantry to meet your cab.
However staff were inordinately helpful and kind at the front desk. The breakfast was incredibly varied and delicious. Room was spacious - with every convenience, fridge, tv, iron. Only problem is no main heater in the bedroom - so it got chilly quite fast.
Anyway I would stay again next time when in Budapest, the location has good access to tram line and the staff are kind.
The location is good and the price is reasonable. However, I didn't pay attention to the public toilet when booking the room, so the experience was not good.
All round the Corinthia Budapest is a great hotel with good prices and excellent service from very friendly employees throughout the hotel. Excellent spar. Relaxed lounge areas.
The bedroom on fifth floor was very nice clean and comfortable. The heating system is set at a high temperature which can become quite uncomfortable in the middle of the night. Loved the Christmas decorations and Christmas Sunday brunch with free flowing beverages.
Very tasty food in the restaurant. The only issues we would highlight is the problem with the hotel being so big that the breakfast restaurant gets very crowded with delayed self service causing the food to become cold by time you sit down. This is also due to many guests leaving the Bain Marie food service warmer lids open as they are rushing to get food. Also the coffee is machines are not good quality or require servicing as the coffee was warm or cold once milk or cream was added. This was the case everyday over 5 days we never got a hot coffee.
Hot food and drinks are very important and this was unfortunately the only let down during our stay.
Hence the reason for a lower review score.
Aside from this I would recommend the hotel.
A very nice hotel with beautiful rooms, and the breakfast was also fantastic!
The only drawback is that you have to walk quite a distance to public transport.
Nevertheless, this hotel is highly recommended.
For me, this is the best hotel in Budapest, and I've stayed there several times. The rooms are better than the neighboring Grand Hotel. The thermal area is magnificent. In the morning or after sightseeing, a swim in the sports pool or a soak in the thermal pool is an added treat. The island on which the hotel is located is a picturesque place in itself. Bus 26 runs regularly and on schedule. Although there are many places to eat in Budapest, we booked dinners and didn't regret it. Lots of fruit, cheeses, two types of soup—everything was delicious. Honestly, I don't want to write a review of this hotel, lest everyone know about this gem of Budapest.
The hotel is more like a vacation home. The restaurant is open only for breakfast. It's closed after breakfast. The bar is closed. There's no cafe. The rooms are very cramped. The bathrooms are extremely tight, barely big enough for one person. The larger ones in the photos are few and far between. Breakfast is good. Unfortunately, chlorinated pools are available in the hotel next door, which is connected by an underground tunnel. The restaurant and cafe are already open in the hotel next door, but everything resembles a spa from the 1980s. The location on the island is very nice. Peaceful, with lots of greenery, old trees, and birdsong. The center is almost a 2-kilometer walk away, but there's a bus stop near the hotel.
A perfect hotel for a weekend stay in Budapest, or even during your vacation.
There are three beautiful pools and saunas, including a steam room.
Perfect breakfast with a wide selection.
The hotel is well located to walk around and there are great places to eat nearby. It’s a 15 minute walk to the Christmas markets and river.
The hotel is very nice in the entrance with a dramatically beautiful lobby, but the rooms are small, dark and in my case not very clean.
Before I keep with the negative aspects, I’d like to make a special remark to Mr. Janos who was the most helpful person and so willing to help and gave us the best recommendations, including best running route!!!
I arrived at 7am and was able to change and go for a run before my room was ready as early as 11am!! Thank you for that!!!!
Back to the negative:
My room didn’t have a bath (my friend’s on the same floor did 🥲) and the furniture was old and kind of sad.
The worst was the shower. It was so tiny and badly designed that it was impossible to use the shampoo without getting it all washed away.
Breakfast was very good, specially if you are an early bird like me and can enjoy the 7am opening service with fresh bread, amazing eggs and the cauliflower which was my ultimate favorite!!
All in all, pleasant stay, made much better by Janos!!!!!
The hotel is on the mountain, next to Fisherman's Bastion. When I checked into the hotel, I thought it would be inconvenient to get to the city. I didn't expect that not only would I be able to see the church as soon as I left the hotel every day, but I would also be able to walk more than 100 meters to the 16/16A bus, which runs until 12 o'clock every day, so I didn't have to worry about going up and down the mountain. If you want to be the first to seize the invincible sunrise at Fisherman's Bastion, then choosing this hotel is the right choice. It only takes 8 to 10 minutes to walk. It's also very convenient to go to the Budapest Castle. You don't have to go down the mountain. You can get to the castle in two or three bus stops because it is parallel to the Fisherman's Bastion. The room is not big and it is a bit stressful to open two luggages. The breakfast is average and there are few categories. But the food in the hotel's restaurant is very good. Reservation required. There is no socket on the dressing table. You need to stand in the bathtub to take a shower. The partition glass is very narrow. Every time I take a shower, the bathroom floor is filled with water. I don't like these two things.
We had a great stay at Lion’s Garden Hotel! The pool and spa area felt like a private escape—we practically had it all to ourselves. The staff were friendly, and the hotel strikes a perfect balance between elegance and coziness, offering all the right amenities without breaking the bank. Plus, it’s pretty central, making it easy to explore many of Budapest’s top attractions. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing
YYu ChengLocation is not exactly in the heart of the city, but it is not far away. Very clean and I personally love the facility and design of the hotel, the cherry on top is the heart warming service, overall definitely worth the price if you want a comfy and classy place to stay it's the one, but if you want a room with river view, maybe go with Intercontinental or marriot but their appearance does not look to nice

LLeoK0Matild Palace in Budapest is a true gem that offers an unforgettable stay. The hotel perfectly blends historical elegance with modern luxury, making it a standout destination. The rooms are beautifully appointed, offering comfort and style, with breathtaking views of the city. Its central location is ideal for exploring the vibrant heart of Budapest.

EeyeofthetravellerI highly recommend the Stories Hotel in Budapest! When I first reserved it, I didn’t realize it shared the space with the beautiful TwentySix restaurant, which later was a big plus! I was travelling with my parents and what I liked was that the room we stayed in offered the space for 3 people! That was something I could not find in other hotels in the city. We really enjoyed the cool aesthetics of the hotel, and with our purchase, the breakfast at TwentySix was included in the price, which was kind and also the breakfast is very delicious! One minor thing was, we had arrived a bit early before check in and had hoped to check into our room earlier, but that wasn’t possible, which is understandable. The next day as we were on a tour for the majority of the morning and afternoon, we had come back to our room to rest and relax a bit, but the room was not cleaned, to the point we just asked for clean towels instead. Apart from those minor things, I would stay there again! Another plus, it was close to a lot of places for visit! 🤗
GGuest UserEverything was great. The bathroom was separate and the room was beautiful with a beautiful view. The staff were friendly and cheerful, and the service was excellent. The food was good and of high quality. The restaurant staff were very friendly and cheerful. If I come here myself, I will definitely come back. I was very impressed. The service was excellent and the location was very convenient. I really liked this place. I would recommend it. You won't be disappointed. ❤️
GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hotel and truly an outstanding experience from start to finish, The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
We stayed there during my husband birthday and when we returned to our room ,we found a beautifully chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us!!!
along with a personalized birthday card from the General Manager. It was such a heartwarming gesture that made the celebration extra special.
The hotel attention to detail and committed to guest satisfaction are truly impressive!!!!
We will definitely be returning.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a comfort and memorable stay,
