I stayed at the Kempinski for a business trip, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. The hotel is centrally located with convenient transportation and a bustling commercial district nearby. The concierge proactively helped with my luggage, and the front desk service was professional and efficient, with no tedious waiting throughout. My room had excellent natural light, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered a superb view. The bathroom amenities were high-quality, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring an undisturbed night's rest. Breakfast offered a comprehensive selection, from Western pastries to Chinese congee and noodles, and the freshly ground coffee was delicious. The Executive Lounge provided a quiet environment, perfect for meetings or relaxation, and the well-equipped gym was great for a workout during my business trip. The German hotel chain's attention to detail was exceptional, and it offered great value for money. I highly recommend it for business travelers.

The breakfast here is probably the best I've ever had! So many options and really hearty dishes, no wonder everyone who visits Shanxi needs a nap afterwards 💤. Service was good, though they weren't very flexible with upgrades this time. Also, the projection in the movie room wasn't working properly… The welcome fruit was just okay, didn't really fancy it. The first Starbucks coffee on the first day of my stay was a nice touch though – perfect for an early morning pick-me-up.

Honestly, the hotel is quite good. It still looks grand and upscale. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, and the service was excellent. The food wasn't expensive, and the hotel's location is fantastic; getting anywhere is incredibly convenient. My only complaint is that the ground floor feels a bit chaotic, with some small shops at the entrance/exit detracting from the hotel's image.

The hotel facilities are quite old, but its location is a big plus. I wasn't a fan of the large vanity mirror facing the double bed, and the air conditioning display stayed lit up all night. The power outlets also seemed a bit dated. It was clean, but there's a construction site downstairs. Luckily it rained, so there wasn't much dust, but it was quite noisy in the mornings. The overall environment is pretty average, which is to be expected for an older hotel. The breakfast selection was limited and the taste was just okay, though the knife-cut noodles were decent. I really need to vent about the restaurant. They advertised a separate entrance for hotel guests, but when I went down for dinner, it was packed. The staff managing the queue kept giving conflicting information, and the whole system was incredibly disorganized. Eventually, they told us to wait for half an hour across the street with non-guests until the central corridor restaurant opened. When I went back to the hotel lobby to ask what was going on, a front desk attendant had a security guard escort me up to a table in the Chinese restaurant, where I had to share a table. The food wasn't great either – very salty. Lots of complaints, so I'd advise caution.

The rooms are quite new, and the staff are very enthusiastic. I'll definitely choose to stay here again when I visit Taiyuan! 📍 Location & Convenience The hotel is located in the heart of Qinxian North Street, right next to Maoye Shopping Center, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. It's also not far from the airport and high-speed rail station, so transportation is a breeze. 🏨 Facilities & Rooms Opened in 2024, the facilities are brand new. The rooms are spacious, and the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer fantastic views, with the city skyline in full sight. The bedding is comfortable, and the water pressure in the bathroom is excellent. 👏 Service – The Real Highlight The service was the biggest surprise of this trip, truly embodying the JW brand essence of ”where the heart feels at home, here it is”: · Thoughtful Upgrades: Not only did they proactively upgrade our room type, but they also meticulously inquired about our preferences. They even prepared slippers and a goodnight card in advance for families with children, making us feel truly at home. · Attentive to Every Need: Seeing guests with luggage, the concierge immediately jogged over to help; when I casually mentioned I had a sore throat, an air purifier was quickly delivered – this feeling of being ”seen” was very heartwarming. · Professional and Efficient: The front desk manager was highly skilled and enthusiastically shared local travel tips and a food map. Even at check-out, they proactively helped carry our luggage to the parking lot.

I carefully chose Jianguo Hotel because I suffer from lower back pain and can't sleep on soft beds. After contacting the front desk and confirming they had firm mattresses, I immediately booked a room (and they promptly changed it for me upon check-in, which I was very happy about). As some reviews mentioned, the room did have a slight musty smell (I personally think it might be related to the carpet). However, the room's decor was well-maintained and didn't look outdated. The hotel staff were all very energetic; everyone I met, from the security guards at the lobby entrance to the housekeepers, greeted me and were very dedicated, showing excellent hotel management. The breakfast was plentiful, and the staff even packed small lunchboxes with bread and milk for my kids when they found out they were going to Yanmenguan. The free bathing service on the fifth floor was also excellent; my daughter went every day and was very pleased. I'd like to thank Li Jianhua and Ding Xiaogang from the recreation department. The late 2 PM checkout was very thoughtful, allowing us to rest in the afternoon. Overall, my whole family had a great impression of Jianguo Hotel.

Let me elaborate. **Courtyard Design:** Very beautiful, many scenic spots within the ancient city are decorated in a similar style. **Room Amenities:** Given the prime location, the room isn't large, perhaps around 15 square meters. It has all the essentials and is very clean. The mattress was comfortable. Of course, it can't compare to high-end or luxury hotels. Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage.

Hotel is inside the ancient city,  A historical building complex, with elaborate decoration and old style furniture in the rooms and lobby.   Most rooms are on the smaller side.    Local businesses that dress up ladies in traditional costumes and makeup seem to prefer to use the courtyard to do photo shoots.    The rail station pickup and drop off was valuable as the station is 15-20 minutes drive from the old city, overall service was good,  breakfast was better than average - the buffet had enough variety, surprisingly some premixed coffee and no hot tea - Chinese don't drink tea anymore? 

If you're traveling to Linfen, Shanxi, I genuinely recommend Gu Cheng Da Yuan. It's not a hotel in the usual sense; it's more like staying in a living piece of history. The moment you push open the heavy wooden door, the city's hustle and bustle are shut out. It's a genuine old house, not some 'faux-ancient' style. 🛏️ The stay was more comfortable than I expected. The room was spacious, antique in style, but not at all dark. ✔ Underfloor heating + central air conditioning throughout, so no fear of the cold in winter. ✔ Turn on the projector and binge-watching shows in bed at night was incredibly satisfying 📽️. ✔ Welcome fruit, tea, coffee, cocktails 🍹, and afternoon tea 🫖 were all prepared. ✔ 24-hour butler service, always responsive. ✔ Takeout can be delivered directly to the room – super friendly for lazy people. 🥟 The attention to detail was a real bonus. On the Winter Solstice, I actually got to eat dumplings handmade by the hotel, and I suddenly felt 'cared for'. The breakfast menu changes daily, so you don't get tired of it. 💆♀️ This was a truly relaxing, 'lie-flat' vacation. This time, I also tried the newly introduced sound bowl healing at the hotel, which made me so relaxed I didn't want to talk throughout the session. Even if I didn't leave all day, just soaking up the sun, reading, and daydreaming in the courtyard felt completely worth it. 📸 Every corner is picture-perfect. Carved window lattices, grey brick corridors – every spot is Instagrammable. User experience: I recently stayed in a hotel and was very satisfied with the overall experience. Pros: The rooms in this hotel are spacious and bright, with complete facilities, especially the beds are very comfortable, allowing people to sleep well until dawn. The location of the hotel is also very convenient, close to the subway station, and it is very convenient to travel.
