Our group of four went to the Shanxi First Hot Spring Hotel, thinking it would be conveniently located within the Wang Family Courtyard. We ended up loving it! The hotel environment was superb! 👍🏻 Getting up early to climb the city wall and see the swirling mist was like stepping into a fairyland. The air was fresh, the hot spring water smooth, and the night view even more beautiful! Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was plentiful! Everyone is planning to come back! The manager, Xiao Wang, and my husband hit it off immediately, and he even gave us souvenir coins!

We spent out last night of our trip at Kempinski Taiyuan, and it did not disappoint. The receptionist upgraded up to a room on a high floor with a view of the city. They also gave us fresh fruits and free minibar. They had everything you would expect of a five star hotel, and the location is in a bustling part of the city. Would definitely come back.

Even though the hotel's facilities are a bit dated, the service and food are absolutely on point! The breakfast was the absolute highlight! Seriously, you're missing out by not promoting it more!
The knife-cut noodles (better than any chain restaurant – get the original flavor, trust me!) are a must-try. The tofu vermicelli, kuailai (a local dish), and lamb offal vermicelli are all pretty much on par with what you'd find at good to excellent local restaurants.
All the side dishes are quite refined and the ingredients are top-notch. For example, the stir-fried bok choy had very few stems and was incredibly tender! The broccoli and baby corn were also very refreshing! The variety is excellent, with both Chinese and Western options, as well as local specialties. Noodles are made fresh on the spot. It really met my expectations for a high-end hotel breakfast.
Facilities: It's an older hotel, so the facilities are indeed a bit dated.
Cleanliness: I prefer to wipe things down with my own wipes, but it all seemed pretty clean.
Environment: Close to the ancient city and Parkson (a department store), the surroundings are nice, but room soundproofing is just okay.
Service: Warm and attentive.
Single bathhouse ticket: A Northern-style public bath.
Late-night congee service: Didn't try it, no delivery available.
The front desk staff were very friendly and patient, answering all my questions. They even upgraded my room. The mattress was comfortable, and the two pillows, one firm and one soft, were also quite comfortable. The hotel's location is good, with many restaurants nearby and plenty of parking. The soundproofing in the room and hallway was decent.
The only downside is the soundproofing of the windows. Near the Red Star Macalline shopping mall, taxis often wait for fares at night, honking their horns loudly when they need to enter or exit. The sound rises between the two buildings, and even with all the windows closed, the sound is as loud as if the windows were open, making life unbearable for residents on higher floors. I thought the higher floors, being away from the street, would be quiet, but the constant barrage of taxi honking, slamming car doors, loud noises, and rain is unbearable. I have to get up early to travel today... I barely slept a wink last night.
Hygiene: Excellent. All towels, bath towels, and bathrobes come in sealed bags, which made me feel very secure using them.
Facilities: Excellent. Although it's an older hotel, the showerheads show their age but are very well-maintained and work perfectly.
Environment: The location is great. The room card gives access to a small gate leading to Yingze Lake Park. It's a nice two to three-kilometer loop for a leisurely stroll.
Service: Excellent. They offered complimentary welcome fruits, and you just scan a QR code to request more amenities. There's also a delivery robot that brings food right to your door, all very convenient.
Suggestion: I hope they can switch from instant Nestlé coffee to pour-over coffee bags. Instant coffee feels too low-end and doesn't match the hotel's overall quality.

Excellent!
First, let's talk about the location. It's centrally located in Datong, very close to attractions like Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and the Nine-Dragon Wall, all within walking distance. Dining is also very convenient, with several restaurants recommended on Xiaohongshu nearby.
Next, the service. As expected of an established hotel, the service is incredibly professional and enthusiastic. The doorman will help you carry your luggage to your room. I even saw them squatting down to meticulously wipe the entrance clean – truly dedicated, especially in this cold weather!
Finally, I must mention the hotel's dining. The dishes come in small portions, and the service is very fast. All the recommended dishes are delicious, and the ambiance is first-class. My only regret is having such a small appetite! The breakfast buffet is also exquisite!
And the complimentary bathhouse tickets were a great bonus. There are two pools with comfortable water temperatures and very clean water. The scrub masseur was also very professional.
I stayed at the Garden Hotel for all 4 days of my trip to Datong, experiencing both buildings A and B, and both were great. Although building B doesn't include meals, it felt a bit newer than building A. This is the first time I've written such a detailed review, but it's genuinely excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Datong!

It was very clean and nice. The staff was very considerate and enthusiastic. The most amazing thing was that the twin room we booked actually had a massage bed inside, which was equivalent to three beds. We had one bed for each of the three generations, so it was impossible for us to sleep uncomfortably. I just forgot to take pictures of the room and just enjoyed it. The breakfast was also good. I was really afraid that I would eat too much. As for the surrounding area, there is a super large Wanda Plaza and Yonghui Supermarket across the road. Datong is a cool city in summer. I will stay here again next time I come to escape the summer heat.
The environment and facilities are very good, but the best thing is the service. The house price is more than 400. This kind of service is considered to be at the ceiling level anywhere in the country. If I go to Jincheng in the future, I will only stay here.

The hotel is in a great location. There are lots of local restaurants downstairs, and there's also the Wanda Mall. I chose this hotel because I stayed there when it first opened. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I even got an upgrade. However, the room was much less clean this time. There was hair all over the bathroom bar, and the large shower head didn't work. This is something a five-star hotel shouldn't have. I hope you'll pay attention to this.

I came to see the concert and I liked the fact that the Intercontinental Hotel could pick me up. The service and environment were very good. There were some minor incidents in the middle, but they were solved quickly. The only question was that I vomited for two consecutive days after breakfast. I want to ask if the soft-boiled fried eggs in the hotel breakfast were sterile eggs?

ZZhongxiabingbaoheI was a little disappointed when I first went there, but fortunately the problem was solved promptly and sincerely. However, I have to complain about the service. The waiter was a little inconsiderate. I saw me with a baby and luggage and no one helped. The shower room could not be used after the room was changed. The big shower head was broken and the small shower head was not easy to use. I booked the hotel for the breakfast. The highlight of this hotel is that the breakfast has many varieties and is very delicious.

BBarbara85The hotel was well located. The room exactly like it was described online. We reserved two rooms without windows for one day it was cost efficient! Unfortunately I could not reserve directly 4 breakfast online only two (one per room), we have to pay directly at breakfast for the two others one.
We stop at Datong to visited one of UNESCO site and see the all Datong city. We thought more foreigners will visit this beautiful small city. No one speaks English (and that’s ok) but for a 4 stars hotel the front desk lady looks a bit lost with the check in procedure for foreigners (and I work in a 5 stars hotel in beijing so I know the procedure as a French working in China). Also, the isolation is bad, the front desk already inform us upon check in but we did not thought we will heard even the other room bathrooms flush. Thank you for this night your hotel is beautiful

GGuest UserThis hotel is centrally located within the ancient city, very close to the main street. It's a charming, traditional courtyard-style hotel that offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling area. The rooms are equipped with modern smart home technology. We visited during the Chinese New Year holiday, so it was very crowded, and parking for self-drivers was a challenge. However, a helpful shuttle driver found us a spot and transferred our car to the hotel. The environment is beautiful, very clean, and the service is warm and friendly. It's probably the most upscale option within the ancient city.

KKai Z.We had a wonderful stay at this charming place located right in the heart of the ancient town. The large, beautiful courtyard provided a beautiful scene and the pick-up and drop-off service was really convenient. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and we were even given a lovely farewell gift. The flexibility of being able to leave a day earlier to visit another city was also thankfully no problem.
While the buildings are historic and full of character, it does come with the challenge of less soundproofing in the rooms, which led to some noises like talking at night. However, this is entirely understandable given the age and historic value of the building. Overall, it was a great experience.

GGuest UserOld five-star hotel, very good accommodation experience, the hotel is very careful, help prepare cosmetic pads. The hotel's breakfast is very rich, covering many local specialties in Yuncheng. Come back from playing in the evening, order meals in the room, continue to experience the superb taste bud feast.
Spring blossoms, come to Yuncheng for a trip! Living in Jinxin, experience the thousand-year charm of the capital of salt transportation.
AAnonymous User🌿 This hotel impressed me deeply. The lobby is elegant like an art gallery, and the room is equipped with high-quality bedding. The location is core, close to the high-speed rail station, parking is completely worry-free, parking spaces are sufficient and equipped with charging piles. The front desk service is particularly warm, the processing is fast, and the detailed local food guide is also prepared. From hardware to service, it feels good value for money, and it must be recommended by five stars! ✨

MM337628****Every trip, the choice of accommodation is particularly important. This hotel left a very deep impression on me. First of all, as a candidate for frequent business trips, the location of this hotel is very advantageous for me, because it is very close to Taiyuan South Station. When I checked out, the staff Xiao Fan called me to contact me for the check-in experience and asked me how I lived. I have used breakfast. From the beginning of my walk into the lobby, I can feel a warm atmosphere. The hotel lobby exudes a fresh fragrance. At the same time, the staff service is also very thoughtful, warm and meticulous, and the room is very warm and comfortable.
