This hotel is located in the heart of Taiyuan city, making it very convenient to walk to the Bell and Drum Towers, Food Street, and Liuxiang South Road Commercial Street. Check-in was super quick, and the front desk staff even proactively upgraded me to a lake-view king room. The bellhop was very polite, offering to carry my luggage and escort me to my room. Inside the room, I found a thoughtful note from the housekeeper, who also provided fruit and a late-night snack. The room layout was well-designed, and all towels and bath towels were sealed in paper bags, clearly marked 'sanitized.' I had a very quiet night's sleep; the soundproofing was excellent. The breakfast buffet was quite rich, and I personally found it very much to my taste. The hotel's dining options are also great; I enjoyed the串串 (Chuan Chuan) mini hotpot on the outdoor terrace, which was fantastic. This is a high-quality hotel that I'd definitely recommend and would love to revisit!

Staying at Ji Xia Shan for four days and three nights in Datong was an absolute delight, a truly pleasant surprise! It was my first experience with the Ji Xia Shan brand, and I'm already looking forward to visiting Meili!
We stayed in the Dieyin Courtyard room, which had a small private courtyard. Each tree in the room and throughout the hotel had a tag identifying its species – such a cute little detail.
The room's snacks and fruits were refreshed daily, and the nightly sweet soups were never repeated. The first night was bird's nest soup, the second was corn soup, and the third was brown sugar peach gum. Breakfast was a semi-buffet, with small portions allowing us to sample many dishes, which was great for avoiding waste.
For our anniversary, the hotel specially decorated our room and even gifted us a delicious, freshly made cake. We felt a bit bad that we couldn't finish it all and caused some waste.
The hotel's overall design creates a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, bringing a sense of peace and tranquility. It feels full of positive energy, with its water features and swaying tree shadows exuding vitality and spirit.
The staff are all young, well-groomed, and professional ladies and gentlemen. They are warm, generous, and their service is natural and friendly, which was very endearing.
Stepping out of the hotel, the view is expansive, directly facing the eastern city wall. Downstairs are Dongnanyi and the hotel's own Yungang Art Museum. During our trip, we caught the 'Pine Under the Mountain' exhibition and learned that the brand's founder is actually from Shanxi.
Datong itself is a fantastic city. Besides its numerous ancient buildings that are a feast for the eyes, it has a rich, comfortable, and natural local atmosphere. 😌

This is by far the best value five-star hotel in Taiyuan. The management is well-organized, and the hygiene is consistently excellent, making you feel right at home. Both the facilities and services are well-maintained. The surrounding area offers a complete range of commercial amenities and convenient transportation, with a subway entrance right next to the hotel. Tianmei and Beimei New World shopping centers are just next door. Overall, it's great value for money. The only minor drawback is that it's an older hotel and could use a full renovation. Given that Shanxi is a strong tourist province, a refurbishment would certainly justify a price increase.

I saw a lot of people complaining that Datong hotels couldn't keep up with the service, so I didn't have high expectations. Surprisingly, I found the service to be excellent. There was a genuine, rustic desire to be good to tourists, sometimes a bit overzealous and awkward, but incredibly sincere and charming. Overall, my stay was fantastic, and it offered great value for money.
The little details in the room were well done. Toiletries were provided at both the sink and in the shower. Important tips and services were clearly written and prominently displayed in the room. This is the first hotel I've seen that even offers to change to a firmer mattress! The fresh fruit and vegetables delivered daily were so fresh that I felt bad for not eating them and ended up forcing myself to eat two pieces of fruit. You absolutely *must* try the pear soup the hotel delivers in the evenings. On the first night, I was a bit skeptical, thinking, 'Who drinks something so sweet late at night? Why pear soup?' But on the second morning, when I got a nosebleed, I immediately understood... I promptly asked for a bottle and chugged it down; the effect was instant.
The hotel's large floor-to-ceiling windows offered a great view, with the ancient city and Drum Tower visible right opposite.
If I had to point out any areas for improvement, it would be the lack of a small shelf near the toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom, so there's nowhere to put your phone, which is a bit inconvenient. Also, the air conditioning was very noisy and seemed to stop cooling in the middle of the night. It got to the point where I'd wake up in the late hours and have to turn it off because it was just making noise, which was quite annoying.
The hotel is new and the rooms are quite spacious. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. It's also very close to Fantawild, which was great for visiting with kids. The pool water was clean, and the kids had a lot of fun, though the water temperature was a bit too cold for little ones, making them shiver. The mini-bar was complimentary, and parking was convenient. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong.

This is the first time in my life I've been so angry at a hotel that I was shaking. And it wasn't a guesthouse or a budget hotel, but the Marriott, a five-star hotel in a resort area.
Since the most convenient way to get from Beijing to Mount Wutai is by overnight train, I was extremely tired when I arrived at the hotel at 6 AM. When I tried to communicate about early check-in and breakfast, the front desk staff kept arguing with me.
Issue 1: **Can Diamond Elite members check in 4 hours early?
Answer: No, the earliest is 10 AM, even then. Checking in earlier than that requires an extra charge. But then she said there were no clean rooms available, which contradicts what she just said! And did I ever say I wasn't willing to pay extra? I was just very tired and wanted to rest, is that not allowed?
Issue 2: **Do Diamond Elite members get free breakfast? Can I have it now?
Answer: No, if you check in today, you can only have it tomorrow.
I pressed further, but she ignored me and kept typing. I thought she was consulting with a superior, but after a minute, I realized she just didn't want to deal with me and was giving me the cold shoulder.
She never looked at any of my information, nor did she provide any guidance, as if I owed her something. Even if my requests couldn't be met, I would accept it; I was just trying. But can someone with such an attitude really work at a front desk?
Later, when I said I would complain about her, she took off her name tag and told me to take a picture, her expression clearly saying, 'Go ahead and complain, I don't care.'
However, I must commend the restaurant staff and the front desk staff who handled my check-in later; their attitude was excellent. But I still feel very upset, and my vacation mood was completely ruined. This is also the first time in my life I've given a hotel a bad review.

Visiting the Wang Family Compound is quite convenient; the hotel is just a short walk from the west gate. There's a 5 RMB shuttle bus to the compound, and parking is available in the underground garage. Staff will help with your luggage. The rooms are on the lowest level, requiring a short climb up some stairs. Breakfast is located above check-in. The restaurant food is good. Since it was Mid-Autumn Festival when I checked in, they thoughtfully provided mooncakes. While the room facilities aren't new, the price is reasonable.
The environment is clean and tidy, the service is patient and considerate, and the front desk butler guidance is quite satisfactory. Will come again. Five-star praise!

Welcome fruit: very careful, new special
Facilities: retro kettle, electric curtains, comfortable bedding
Hygienic: clean and tidy
Service: The service is in place, especially the front desk lady, can quickly help the guests solve the problem, and take the initiative to send water and snacks after check-out. The drinks and drinks in the minibar are also good, like it

The hotel is located right next to the main road, making it easy to hail a taxi and providing convenient transportation. The room was upgraded free of charge and was spacious and bright. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and was of good quality. The receptionist was very helpful in finding shops to buy local specialties. The hotel offers great value for money.

Good
AAnonymous UserCtrip's target is five diamonds, except for the lobby and services, none of the other links meet this standard. Room facilities are old. But at this price, don't expect too good hardware. The breakfast was good, which is to be commended. There is no business district nearby, so it is not very convenient to eat.
Service: The service is rated five points, very thoughtful and enthusiastic.
Facilities: old.
Will not live again in the future.
LLiuMKThe hot spring hotel has been awesome. The room is very big, super clean and bright enough in areas like the bathroom. It is warm enough even in winter due to the underfloor heating,, so I have to turn off the room air con heating.
The hotel front desk team is even more awesome. They are always ready to help with all kinds of queries and needs. When we were leaving, they even gave us a bottle of local vinegar as a gift.
The hot spring is not located inside the hotel like the Japanese onsen. It is a couple of hundred meters away, but the hotel provided an electric buggy to ferry you to and fro. The hot spring area itself has a changing room, where you can out on the bathrobe before you step out in the open and into the hot spring. So even in winter, it is still manageable and you should not catch a cold. Some regular hot spring users even put on their down feather jacket over the bathrobe, and that surely is more effective.
There are even security personnel at the hot spring to make sure there is help if you get into difficulties.
Breakfast is also good. The hotel also uses the buggy to fetch you to a posh looking restaurant in the hotel vicinity. Food is good, and not too expensive. There is also a small retail outlet next to the restaurant. The prices there are very reasonable.
GGuest UserDatong Yungang Hotel Review
I've stayed in many five-star hotels, but Datong Yungang Hotel consistently ranks at the top for me. It truly lives up to its reputation as the best in the area.
The overall decor is grand and stylish, with spacious and luxurious interiors that strike a perfect balance between opulence and elegance, without being over-the-top. The pricing is very reasonable, offering excellent value for money.
The service is thoughtful and meticulous. The staff are responsive and attentive, making the entire experience comfortable. Room cleanliness is impeccable; every corner and all the linens are spotless and tidy.
The breakfast buffet offers a vast selection, including a wide array of meats, vegetables, pastries, desserts, and local specialties, all of which taste great.
The location is a major plus, less than two kilometers from Datong Ancient City, making it very convenient for exploring the area. Considering the comprehensive quality of its facilities, service, price, and location, it's definitely worth a second visit. This is my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Datong!

AAnonymous UserI stayed at Wutong Apartment Hotel for a business trip, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The room was clean and cozy, and the facilities were well-equipped. The cleaning staff were also very welcoming. What's particularly worth recommending is their breakfast, which truly lives up to its reputation as a 'breakfast ceiling' online. Having traveled to many cities, I can confidently say their breakfast surpasses the standards of five-star hotels in first-tier cities. The quality of the steak and salmon, as well as the cooking, were excellent. Various Chinese stir-fries tasted as good as those ordered à la carte in restaurants, and there was a wide array of local delicacies. The lamb soup with aged tofu was a perfect combination. And the desserts, oh the desserts, were outstanding! The ingredients were high-quality, and both their appearance and taste were superb – highly recommended. The only minor drawback was the average service. The rather short restaurant manager had an incredibly loud voice, like a lady shouting in a wet market, constantly directing staff loudly, which unfortunately lowered the hotel's overall ambiance. Despite that, it's still highly recommended overall!
