The hotel is conveniently located right next to Junction City shopping mall and directly across from Holy Trinity Cathedral. It's also adjacent to Bogyoke Aung San Market, where you can find jewelry and other goods. Shwedagon Pagoda, Chinatown, and other attractions are all within walking distance, and Shwedagon Pagoda is just a 6-minute drive away, making it incredibly convenient for both shopping and sightseeing. The hotel boasts four specialty restaurants and one bar, catering to diverse tastes. Hai Tien Lo is an award-winning Cantonese restaurant offering stunning views of the Yangon River and Shwedagon Pagoda. Saan restaurant serves international cuisine all day, while Pacific Marketplace provides a lavish breakfast with a wide array of dishes including Okonomiyaki and Indian food. The Teak Bar allows guests to enjoy cocktails with panoramic views of the Yangon skyline. Unfortunately, when we visited, there was only a menu but no staff, possibly due to fewer guests in winter. The infinity pool on the third floor is a major highlight of the hotel. Despite being in the bustling city center, it offers excellent views and scenery, perfect for photos. It's open from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM and features a poolside bar. The adjacent gym is well-equipped with new facilities, and guests can access it at night with their room key. The hotel also offers sauna and spa facilities, ideal for relaxation. This time, I stayed on the 10th floor, and the room felt a bit dated. The rooms on the 13th floor have already been renovated and are quite grand. Speaking of grand, I have to mention the lobby on the R floor – it's very stylish. Just look at the pictures! Smokers room and unable to sleep in room, called the reception they offered air freshener when I had booked a non-smoking room. Slept in hallway, got eaten by mosquitoes. Also on the 8th floor and no elevator. Not a restful room. Great location though.

Conveniently located and nice old hotel. Incredibly good breakfast for the price. Clerks are polite and kind. But at least they should give 2 tea bags per room, only one green tea bag is not enough.

”My early check-in was handled smoothly by the lobby staff, who were consistently cheerful and helpful. Having stayed here five times, I can confidently say the service is superb. A major highlight is the breakfast, which I find exceptional because of the delicious local food options. Furthermore, the staff makes arranging Grab taxis very convenient. I consider this, overall, to be the best hotel experience in Yangon.”

Hotel G Yangon is a very modern and stylish hotel with a great atmosphere. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful – truly one of the highlights of the stay. The location is excellent, and having security on site at night adds an extra sense of safety. Overall, a fantastic place to stay in Yangon. Highly recommended!

As one of Asia's three most iconic hotels, The Strand is well worth a stay, regardless of Yangon's inherent challenges. The hotel itself exudes a strong sense of history, and upon entering the room, a subtle woodsy aroma fills the room. While the room doesn't come with a kettle, coffee, or tea bags, hot water, coffee, or tea are readily available at the front desk. Breakfast is also available on a à la carte basis. The amenities are worthy of a heritage hotel. The hot water for showers was sometimes insufficient, but overall, the benefits outweighed the disadvantages.

As a solo female traveler, I truly appreciated the hotel’s professional travel information and thoughtful safety reminders. They made me feel well-supported throughout my entire stay in Yangon. The staff were always kind, attentive, and ready to help whenever I had questions about transportation or places to visit. Thanks to their guidance, everything went smoothly and I felt very safe exploring the city on my own. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options, and the view from the hotel was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other solo travelers looking for a comfortable and reliable place to stay in Yangon.

Meliá has a very good location, just opposite Inya Lake. While the interior design is simple and not very modern, the facilities and service are great. It would be nice if a sauna and jacuzzi were available and provide briefing while check in. The breakfast is amazing. I was surprised to see both a café counter and an ice cream counter during the breakfast session. However, they did not offer any complimentary service for birthday or anniversary requests.

1. During the check in, all the charge options for breakfast was not considered. Most higher rate for breakfast was charged for first 4 breakfasts. After questioning a manager for what was advertised, she agreed to charge 17.50 USD. ( For the first 4 days was 10.00 UAD higher. 2. The bathroom bath tub is mounted dangerously to get in ant out of the tub for even shower. It is mounted too high. No handle is fixed to hold. Hotel placed a note to be careful. 3. The final bill lack details. Only the total. No way to check if the final amount is correct. I was in a hurry to get to the airport, did not open it it check.

BBruce MWould stay again. Great location, close to area famous landmark by walking distance. Room need sound proof due to noise from street and near by park especially on morning. Also room key needed to be updated. Like old style bulk key chain back in the 80's . Great breakfast buffet and enjoy it. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Overall, very pleased with stay.

GGary Joseph HayesReview: The Governor’s Residence, Yangon The Governor’s Residence remains one of Yangon’s most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements. Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era. What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.

IIsfp-Solo TravelerThe staff were very accommodating, from the receptionists to housekeeping💙 I stayed here for only one day as I extended my trip by a day. Don’t expect too much from the amenities, as the hotel is half the price of others with similar facilities—which is why it’s a good option😊 The breakfast buffet had limited options but was still decent —- They have a section where you can ask a staff member to cook an egg/omelet for you, but I didn’t explore the other options (breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, which is great if you have early morning plans, as it gets really hot once the sun rises during this month)…. The hotel has a gym, sauna, and pool. The room includes a TV, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries, and complimentary water and coffee….. The only downside was that hot water is not available 24 hours during my stay…. According to the receptionist, hot water is available only during specific hours to adhere to electricity conservation, if I’m not mistaken.. (if I’m not mistaken, starting from 9 AM, but I’m not sure until when) as they have I only realized this when I was about to shower around 8:30 PM and found that only cold water was available. I called the receptionist, and they sent housekeeping to assist…. I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing only so if you’re concern with this, you can message them first… It’s still a good place to stay, even if it’s a bit far from the tourist spots, as Grab is available at a very reasonable price for getting to the places you want to visit.

Ww-veloThe hotel is very conveniently located. They serve breakfast. There's a restaurant on the 9th floor where you need to arrive at 7 a.m. for breakfast. I overslept, and it was delivered to my room at 7:15 a.m. 😀. There are several nearby streets with cafes and currency exchange shops around 21st Street. SIM cards are sold (just tables with goods on the street) and they issue them quickly and inexpensively. You can book bus tickets and exchange money at the hotel (the rate is slightly lower than at the currency exchange shops nearby). I stayed for one day, then extended it for another. I liked it. Next time I'm in Yangon, I'll probably stay here again. There's a yellow pages directory in the room, but the Wi-Fi works well. The only downside is that you have to wait a few minutes for the hot water to come on, and there's some kind of insect repellent hanging in the shower that apparently has a very unpleasant odor. That's a minor detail, but the main thing is that it's quiet, clean, and conveniently located.
