Reception staff was super friendly and very helpful a credit to the hotel. Room was clean with a lovely bed and warm powerful shower. Food served til 8.30pm which the food we had was lovely and would recommend, menu is rather small but they are good at accommodating e.g vegetarian however a little on the high price. I would say the bar is over priced for the stay however lovely open fire! The grounds are nice with a woodland behind. With a kids play area and a few added bits e.g giant chest set. Room was a little cold (room 25) with the heating in the room not working however a plug in was provided within the room and the hotel it’s self rather warm downstairs with working heating. My biggest concern was the windows the bathroom window faces out to the staff carpark and the blinds old, dirty and not working with dam or water damage above the windows ( which i expected given the age and price of the room) The hotel has a little dungeon which we were allowed to go down which added to the castle stay! The hotel has certain bits of armed men and knights bits on display. I felt with a small investment in displaying the castles history and strengthen the knight theme the dungeon could be a little hidden gem Ice cream parlour up the road on a working farm with kids play area, good selection of shops within 10 mins drive at a new retail park with cinema, plenty of restaurants, and supermarkets Would stay here again Overall would stay here again

I had a very satisfying stay. On my journey from York to Edinburgh, I made a point of stopping for a night in Durham to experience the romance and elegance of a traditional English small town. This Hotel Indigo is converted from a historic local school, so from the facade to the corridors and even the rooms, the original style is beautifully preserved. The room was quite spacious and well-equipped, and the staff were all very warm and attentive. The breakfast was also excellent, a mix of buffet and à la carte. Overall, I was very happy. It would have been even better if the air conditioning in the room could have provided a bit more heat. I imagine we'll return to this charming town in a few years – looking forward to our next visit!

The room was spacious and comfy beds. It comes with free breakfast, which is good. Breakfast was alright, the same food every morning. The only thing that lets us down is one of the staff in the restaurant. We sat there for ages waiting to be served. Because he won't be serving us not until 8pm. So we've waited patiently, because we have just arrived that night and was very hungry. This man was serving other people, but not us. So my husband and I were wondering what's going on. So my husband went to the till and queued up. But when it's my husband's turn, he asked, ”Who's next?? Obviously, my husband was in front of him. Then, when my husband asked if we could order now, he looked at him and me and saying ”Oh, just wait to your table, and I will get your order from there. . Maybe because I am the only Asian there. I feel like there's a bit of ****** to be honest. We went back to our table and waited to be served again. But he didn't turn up and served the next table beside and served some other customer who came after us. I was so mad and upset. But I don't want cause a scene. So we we just went out and looked for another restaurant outside the hotel. We're so disappointed, and we didn't expect to be treated like that. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I just forgot his name. But the one at the restaurant is not nice at all. He ruined our family holiday. We won't be coming back anymore there.

Even though I'm a Marriott member, I often book Marriott hotels overseas through Ctrip because it's significantly cheaper than the Marriott app, usually saving me at least £50... This really shows how inflated Marriott's direct prices are. GHA, on the other hand, is the opposite; I almost never book through Ctrip because booking directly with GHA often gets me a two-category room upgrade, free breakfast, and executive lounge access by default. Durham – I apologize for my ignorance, but I only discovered this charming little town when I passed through it by train this time. I made a special trip to stay one night in Durham on my way back from Alnwick. Choosing the Delta Durham was undoubtedly a very smart decision. Outside my window, I had views of the old street, the bridge, and the castle. All the beautiful sights were within walking distance. For the train station, just Uber it, no need to think twice. This is an old building, so you shouldn't expect it to be like a modern office-building hotel; its location and views are paramount.

Double Classic room plenty of space. Large comfortable bed.  Good choice of restaurants in the hotel and lovely views across the golf course from my room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice plenty of choices. I went for one night as a getaway on my own and felt comfortable and safe.  Will stay again.

Was a romantic get away, found that the drinks are expensive inside the hotel. we never ate at the hotel, as there is a couple of nice pubs close by. the staff were friendly, THe place is a bit of a maze but cool. they do run daily tours but its best if you book up in advance as when we tried to do day of the tour no availability. it is run via a 3rd party not the hotel itself.

Amazing stay. The customer service was impeccable from the off, very clean, all the necessary amenities, and a super comfortable bed and pillow.

We really enjoyed our stay, the location is ideal and the grounds were beautiful and quiet! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional! The only downside was that our room had only one plug socket that we could use.....just not enough these days, even just for basic needs..... very poor unfortuneatly. Air conditioning would have been welcomed, we would therefore definitely avoid this Hotel in summer months for this reason alone. One other small irritant, our bathroom had a glass shelf above the sink which tilited heavily towards the sink, so we had to be very careful to ensure things didn't keep falling over. Our breakfasts were excellent (apart from the Omelettes), and the service staff were very welcoming....a great start to any day!

The room is decorated in a modern style and is clean and tidy. The location is very good, in the service area, next to McDonald's, and there is Costa at the front desk of the hotel. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is that the air conditioner in the room has a constant temperature setting. It's a bit noisy and the temperature is a bit low. The air conditioner is controlled by the front desk. The automatic mode of the air conditioner in the small room keeps blowing cool air. I went to the front desk to adjust it in the middle of the night. The front desk was very nice. Helped adjust the heating mode. But the overall temperature at night is not too high

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.
