"Raia Hotel & Convention Centre is big and faces the Kuching airport terminal. Pick-up is at Gate 3 of the airport arrival hall after WhatsApp the hotel. In five minutes, the hotel white van with the Raia Hotel logo came to pick me up. Upon entering the room and activating the power source, the television automatically shows Bloomberg News. I had tried to switch it off to sleep but the remote control did not function. I cannot see the airport runway from my room. It may be possible to see Air Borneo aircraft ascend to the sky at a corner in a twinkling of an eye. I slept for four hours thirty minutes and woke up after the prompt wake-up call to check-in for Air Borneo's flight to KLIA on 8 August 2026. Kindly note that the hotel is under renovation and enhancement works until 19 September 2026. It is not practical to stay in the room during and after breakfast and the room has no minibar. If one does not have a flight to catch in the morning, stay elsewhere in Kuching."

"The hotel is relatively new, with a 'light luxury' style, located right next to the Hilton. The river view isn't as good as the Hilton's, but the night view from the top-floor pool is nice, and the gym also has a great view. However, there were hairs on the bedsheets and on the floor in my room. I asked the front desk to send someone to change them. The sheets didn't feel very clean, and the towels were gray, so I didn't use any of them. It was okay for one night, I guess."

"It was a pleasant stay overall — the room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. However, despite choosing a non-smoking room, we could already smell cigarette smoke as soon as we stepped out of the elevator, which was quite disappointing and a definite minus point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was decent, with a good variety of food options available. We also added breakfast for an additional child. The price stated on the Trip.com booking page was RM24.50, but we were charged RM29.50 instead. You may wish to update the information on the booking platform to avoid confusion for future guests."

"Booked the deluxe room and it is a newly renovated room. However, due to the ongoing renovation on other floors, there is noise of drilling and knocking sounds as early at 8am. Otherwise, the hotel has a very nice layout and is spacious. Location is superb..close to waterfront and eating places by walking. Friendly and helpful staff. One other comment is that the housekeeping is not done throughly. Strands of hair found on the bathroom floor even after the room is cleaned. Overall, had a great stay for 4 nights."

"Good location, but check-out day service needs improvement Stayed at Hotel Meritin Kuching during the first week of August. Overall, it was a decent stay and the location in Padungan is very convenient. The room was generally clean and acceptable, although I noticed some dust on the floor when I first checked in. Check-in was smooth. Most of the reception service was fine, although one night-shift staff member seemed rather unfriendly and did not smile or greet us when we came in and out at night. Main downside – check-out day: There was an event and roadblock around the hotel on the day we checked out, but the hotel did not inform us in advance. As we were travelling to the airport, the hotel should have informed guests about the road closure so that we could leave earlier and plan our transportation accordingly. Because of the event, our Grab driver could not access the hotel, and we had to walk about 1 km with our luggage to the designated Grab pick-up point. This was very inconvenient and, in my opinion, not good hotel service. The hotel should proactively inform guests about events and roadblocks that may affect access to the hotel, especially for guests checking out and heading to the airport. On the positive side, the hotel has a great location for food. Top Spot Food Court is within walking distance for seafood, and you can also try ABC and Ling Loong. Overall, a decent hotel with a good location, but communication and service regarding road closures should definitely be improved."

"The hotel ambiance exudes old-money charm. During my stay, I even had the pleasure of seeing their Sultan King. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The hotel's location is excellent, said to be in the best 'feng shui' spot, feeling grand and impressive. It directly faces the river, and in the evenings, it's very convenient to stroll along the riverside to Marina Bay Sands. The only issue was that the air conditioning wasn't cooling when I checked in, but it was resolved after I reported it. Later that night, I discovered the shower gel dispenser was nearly empty, and no product would come out. Then, the shower drain clogged, quickly flooding the entire bathroom during my quick shower. The hotel does show some signs of aging facilities, but everything else was great."

"This is an older, established hotel located in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in East Malaysia, right on the waterfront of the Kuching River. It's surrounded by several other star-rated hotels, including three international chain hotels. I had a layover in Singapore and arrived in Kuching at night, so I booked this hotel for one night as a stopover. While the hotel is a bit old, the room environment was decent. The breakfast was a 'Western-style' breakfast, so it was quite simple. The same building as the hotel houses offices, including the Brunei consulate and a 7-Eleven. There's also a McDonald's just diagonally across from the hotel."

"The hotel is quite new, and very close to the airport. The buffet breakfast is good. However, it seems the staff were not familiar with the system so the check-in took a long time. Besides, there were renovation noises at 8-9am in the morning upstairs which was a bit disturbing. Lastly, it can take a long time for deposits refund (3 days already and I haven’t received it)"
