Impeccable service and beautiful rooms with good views. The rooms were well lit and had all the amenities - ironing board, hairdryer etc. Bed was also comfortable, clean and well kept. The breakfast had a good spread and the food served at their restaurant was also very good. It was also convenient, connected to the shopping centre. Would definitely stay here again when I visit Yangon.
The location is good however room cleanliness need to be improve; beside I found out that toilet bowl & floor are not maintain well.
Plus, few power outages along my stays where I fell not comfortable & secure - what if I am stuck inside the life?
Anyway I found the breakfast serving is good with variety foods.
This hotel was great! I really loved the room, and I'd definitely stay here again next time. The breakfast spread was fantastic, and the pool was nice too, you know? But the main thing for me was how much value for money the room offered. I really appreciate that.
The hotel is in a shopping complex , very well located , for business traveler's like me , this is good choice, it also facilitated with the facilities that most of business traveler's needed and very convenient. Many option and choices of meal , does not have to go out of the hotel
Review: The Governor’s Residence, Yangon
The Governor’s Residence remains one of Yangon’s most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon.
Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements.
Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era.
What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.
We have stayed here many times and always received good service. However, this time we didn't get the lake view room we booked. There was no coffee in the room, when I asked for coffee they said they don't have. Apart from these minor issues,we had a good stay.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed.
It’s formerly known as Rosewood Yangon and now reopened for 8 months. Everything is excellent, very friendly, patient and helpful staff, extraordinary service. The hotel’s history dates back to 1927 so it’s absolutely a historical building. The decoration is very exquisite, breakfast is tasty and there are many choices. The location is also good and safe, very near to Sule Plaza, General Post Office and British Embassy. On terrace you can see the river view.
I want to especially express my gratitude to Vanessa and Swar, they provided me with a lot of detailed information so I can know more about this hotel, this city and this country. Please make sure they can receive this feedback and my appreciation!
Meanwhile, the front desk Moo Thaw, Luca showed me the hospitality.
Next time I come to Yangon, I would consider choosing this hotel again, and also I will recommend it to my friends.
Hope you can keep this level 😃

The Strand Yangon

★★★
Unfortunately, over the years, by the 1980s, the hotel had become completely dilapidated. However, Amanresorts founder Adrian Zecca recognized its value and invested in preserving this historic building, embarking on renovations. In 1993, he successfully revived it. In other words, this hotel is a testament to the passion of two hotel legends.
What might seem like standard rooms is a whopping 55 square meters! In fact, all 32 of the hotel's rooms are suites.
The Strand Yangon
When the hotel was built, Rangoon (now Yangon) was not a popular destination for foreign tourists, and it seemed like there was no need for a first-class hotel. However, the Sarkies brothers believed that such a need would soon arise, and so they decided to take on the challenge of running a hotel in Rangoon. Perhaps they were too premature in their predictions, as the hotel they opened in 1892 was unsuccessful. However, The Strand Yangon, which opened in 1901, began to take off as a cutting-edge hotel.
The four Sarkis brothers, Armenians from Isfahan, Persia, founded three hotels: the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, the E&O Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, and The Strand Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma).

TTharChawThis hotel exceeded expectations with exceptional customer service—staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to help. The room was spotless, with well-maintained amenities that made the stay comfortable and relaxing. Every detail reflected care and quality. A truly pleasant experience that I would happily recommend to anyone seeking comfort and hospitality.
PPo-YiThe room space and bathroom are clean and tidy, but there are too few sockets in the room which is a bit inconvenient. The service staff is friendly and the breakfast has many choices and tastes good. There are no supermarkets around the hotel, so the convenience is a bit lacking. Overall, it's a great hotel.

IIsfp-Solo TravelerThe staff were very accommodating, from the receptionists to housekeeping💙
I stayed here for only one day as I extended my trip by a day. Don’t expect too much from the amenities, as the hotel is half the price of others with similar facilities—which is why it’s a good option😊
The breakfast buffet had limited options but was still decent —- They have a section where you can ask a staff member to cook an egg/omelet for you, but I didn’t explore the other options (breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, which is great if you have early morning plans, as it gets really hot once the sun rises during this month)….
The hotel has a gym, sauna, and pool. The room includes a TV, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries, and complimentary water and coffee…..
The only downside was that hot water is not available 24 hours during my stay…. According to the receptionist, hot water is available only during specific hours to adhere to electricity conservation, if I’m not mistaken.. (if I’m not mistaken, starting from 9 AM, but I’m not sure until when) as they have I only realized this when I was about to shower around 8:30 PM and found that only cold water was available. I called the receptionist, and they sent housekeeping to assist…. I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing only so if you’re concern with this, you can message them first…
It’s still a good place to stay, even if it’s a bit far from the tourist spots, as Grab is available at a very reasonable price for getting to the places you want to visit.

GGuest UserThe hotel reception staff and security staff were very friendly towards customers.
The room was also kept clean.
The location was convenient for my activities, and the breakfast was very neat and delicious, so I was very satisfied.
It was especially nice that they allowed me to eat from 6 in the morning.
Reception staff, security staff, other miscellaneous staff, and room cleaning staff all smile at the same time.
I had a very comfortable stay for 5 days thanks to the friendly and friendly guidance.
I stayed at the Melia Hotel in August 2023, and I think it was a much more satisfying hotel than there.
