Five star service atop a mountain with intimate Matterhorn views!

On a clear day the terrace of the hotel offers the most spectacular view of the Matterhorn, the mountain seems to be within touching distance. So even if not staying overnight, a drink and a cold platter of local delicacies is a great idea while admiring the majestic mountains around.

I stayed solo in the dorm room. Kind of a once in a lifetime place. The views are so beautiful and you at night are in the middle of nowhere. No TV, very few outlets even. Just a very old school dining room with excellent continental food. Guests seemed mostly Swiss or German. I learned a lot about Swiss hospitality. The culture is not exactly touchy feely but so on top of how to treat their guests. Naomi, who was a front of the house person was especially efficient. pleasant and helpful while being non-intrusive. The dorm itself is not glamorous but clean.

Where to begin!? Schwarzsee Hotel is amazing for skiers who travel across the continents with the mentality to enjoy the outdoors. This hotel is very convenient as it is a ski-in-and-out hotel. With the most amazing views of the Matterhorn and part of the Swiss Alps just out your window. The gondola is one minute walk and to embark further up in the mountains and all the way to Cervinia ski resort which lands in Italy!! The staff at the hotel are polite and helpful, the food is beyond delicious. Enjoyed every meal for 4 consecutive days. Your stay includes breakfast and dinner. The dormitories are a bit stretchy and the mattresses hard spring coils. But if you are here to ski the alps, this is just a minor thing that you can overlook. I would definitely comeback!!

Amazing view of the Matterhorn, and the town of Zermatt, friendly and welcoming staff, included dinner and breakfast were delicious Highly recommended for skiing from and to, rooms are modern and always clean you won’t be disappointed

A fantastic base to explore the mountains and access the pistes from first to last. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were warm and helpful, and the food perfect for our needs. Access from the Schwarzsee bubble lift was easy and the views of the Matterhorn can’t be beaten. It felt like a proper mountain hideaway.

Amazing mountain ambiance - that was my second time staying in this hotel. Matterhorn view from my balcony, good breakfast and excellent dinner, friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately it gets booked up very quickly during the summer so it’s really hard to get.
