La Belle Etoile

If you want a posh state of the art hotel, this place isn’t for you. However if you want a traditional, Italian and central hotel this is for you. The hotel is well located close to two gondolas and only about a 10 min walk (bit longer in ski boots) to the main jandri express. The rooms are basic but clean, warm and with the shutters closed are pitch black at night so a very good nights sleep was had. The food is authentic Italian (it is an Italian hotel) with 4 courses every night plus a salad bar! The three main waitresses are attentive and do all they can to give great service but our fav was Lola - she speaks five languages and is incredibly polite and efficient! There is a jacuzzi and sauna that you can book after skiing and a heated boot room. There is also a basic gym with a table tennis table that was a nice touch! Around 4pm everyday they have homemade cake and juices to help yourself to. The charm of this hotel is wonderful and we were very well looked after. We would def go back, thank you for having us.

I went to La Belle Etoile in Jan 2024 through crystalski. Crystal made some mistakes with the transfer arrangements so we were due to get in at 20:30, ended up being more like 22:30 - let the hotel know and they were great, kept some food back for us and we had a hot meal waiting for us when we got there, which was very much appreciated. My salopettes ripped during my trip (must have put on some muscle on my thighs, definitely not eaten too much during chris**as), and when I asked for a sewing kit to see if I could repair them, the staff couldn't have been better, during busy breakfast service they arranged for one of the staff to get them sewn up on a machine properly. Not only did they do this once, but three times during the week because I kept ripping them and I'm too cheap to buy a new pair at mountain prices! So helpful, and they didn't have to do it at all. Location wise, the hotel is easily walkable to the main chair lifts, Jandri 1 slightly further but you can get the closer Diable up and board over easily. Plenty of ski shops nearby for bits and bobs and a sandwich shop at the end of the road for lunchtimes. Very close to the Red Frog which is a great bar with sport on the TV, pool table and darts, but all the bars at the bottom are within a 15 minute stagger of each other. Food we had half board, 5/6 courses every night, decent food, nothing gourmet but did the job. Decent array at breakfast, as much coffee as you need which is all I care about. Boot room is small but functional, enough space in a locker for 2 people's kit, no blowers for gloves/boots so you may have to take your inners up to your room to dry out properly Good place, would stay again

Perfect hotel to stay in Les Deux Alpes. Really great hotel restaurant that serves genuine Italian food cooked by an Italian chef. Perfect location to access Venosc and Diable by telecabine. Full of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. Quite big swimming pool is another plus. If you need the Gym for your daily routine, this hotel is the right place you should stay. The sauna available based on the reservation was fantastic for the recovery from a long walk. All staffs are friendly and professional. I don't hesitate to recommend this hotel for your holidays.

Stayed here for a week great location to the slopes and shops. All the staff are friendly and helpful The beds are very comfortable even if the rooms are a bit dated they are kept very clean and tidy. The food choice is limited and a bit basic and a bit same things over the week

I was prompted to review this hotel as some of the other recent reviews had caused us concern before our trip and I wanted to share our experience which was much more positive, so travellers had a balanced view. Sure, the hotel is not modern. It has a 70s feel and could benefit from some updating as some of the furniture is a bit threadbare. But it is very welcoming, there is a bar area and pool table in the foyer and the staff are all very friendly. It’s Italian run and the food is very good quality and of a much better variety than other British tour operator options we’ve used in the past. The spa isn’t really a spa, just a sauna and jacuzzi (jacuzzi not working since Covid) but if you want a quick post ski sauna it’s fine. Worth paying for a superior room with balcony. We had this and it was a good size but our sons were in a standard twin which was tiny. Don’t expect luxurious bed linen or the finest mattresses but it was all clean. In short, this is not pretending to be a 5 star hotel and the price reflects that, but we were very comfortable and appreciated the good food and warm welcome, plus the location just metres from the main lifts.

I wouldn’t visit this hotel because it hasn’t had a penny spent on it since the 70’s and the food is very very average. Buffet food and quite often they run out or it is cold. Something out of another era. Crystal show no care whilst you stay there.

This hotel has some good points however lots of room for improvement. The hotel and rooms: it’s like you’ve travelled back to the 1970’s and needs a lot of renovations. Brown bathroom suites and decor that looks very run down. Walls very thin and could hear conversations next door to you very easily. That being said the bed was comfy and got a good night sleep most nights. The hotel advertises that it has a hot tub and sauna however the hot tub is out of action (I believe down to some French government rules). The sauna was in use however you had to book a day in advance to use it (we didn’t use it so can’t comment on how it was). Restaurant: we booked on a half board basis however ended up eating out 3 times in the week we were there. The food is very average (pasta, some sort of meat, a couple of salad options, soup etc). It was rather beige and sometimes luke warm. Breakfast was a bit better, fresh croissants, bread, yoghurts, egg and bacon available. Again some of it lukewarm. The staff were friendly each time they served the food. Location: wasn’t too noisy at night however there is a nightclub and a lively bar which students use just around the corner so some noise during the night especially if you had the door to the balcony open. You’re around a 5min walk to the Diable ski lift and a 10min walk to the main Jandri lift. The hotel is centrally located with supermarkets near by and lots of bars and restaurants. Restaurants we visited for dinner which we recommend are Smitheys Tavern, The Spot and The Trappeur. I wouldn’t stay here again based on the improvements that are very much needed.

Hotel is very central Steps to the entrance are lethal! We all fell down, I suggest access via the boot room. Staff are all so lovely, so courteous, so kind, all Italian and always happy and helpful 😊 Beds are comfortable, rooms and the hotel very dated. They have great liaison with a ski hire company near by, who are so nice!!! So tale the deal. Foods fine, all edible, lots variation. If you want fine dining this is not the place. It's a comfy nice hotel and very easy. Also a jacuzzi to relax, but be sure to book! Pool table available and as said before staff make the hotel! The waiting staff never seem to get time off, they work so hard!
