Hotel Flamencos

I was excited about this place as I really didn’t want my family to stay at another Western cliche chain hotel that Mexico City is abundant in. In hindsight, I wish I had opted for the latter as … well, you know what to expect and, if need be, what to do to get your way. I had booked Hotel Flamencos for two stays, before and after our travel outside of Mexico City. The second stay was cancelled by me. Below are the reasons why.  A short summary of my trouble here: --I booked my room 6 months in advance (using a third party site) and communicated to the hotel directly about my expectations. All was almost overbearingly sweet, with promises of ”accommodation” showered all over. TO EMPHASIZE: I HAD ASKED TO LOOK INTO MY CONCRETE RESERVATION AND CONFIRM THAT MY TWO KIDS WOULD BE ACCOMMODATED. The answer? We confirm!  -- All niceness ended upon arrival at the hotel as, instead of a welcome, the front desk person extended a message of additional charges for my son, who is 14. Instantly, ALL this hotel was about was getting their additional 350 pesos (USD18) per night for my child. Me showing my  communication with the hotel didn't do a thing. Fine. Whatever! - It only got worse from there as ”the only room available” turned out to be A ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, they have those at this place on each floor, so, in case you are considering this place, please know that your room is ”based on availability.” As I threatened to LEAVE, they somehow FOUND the right type of room (granted, we showed up shortly after noon, so they did give us a courtesy of an early check-in). Thank you!  - The location of the hotel is TERRIBLE: flee markets, warehouses, LOADS of traffic, HUGE CROWDS OF PEOPLE queuing up for busses or just packing the area are  truly not very enjoyable. Aside from street food, which you may not be able to get easily (because of A LOT OF PEOPLE), no decent places to eat around. Hands down, there are MUCH better areas! - I killed 4 mosquitos in my room. Apparently, there is a way for them to get into your room through the bathroom. The stench from the kitchen downstairs gets into your room the same way, too. -- The breakfast is basic and easy to get tired of. The breakfast area is small. A few other details: - Amidst my check-in debacle, I asked to speak with a manager. Unsurprisingly, that person ”had a day off” (of course! :)). And it was the same guy who handled check in who continued replying to my emails, obviously rejoicing in the opportunity to practice English, rather than put the situation right. -- The manager was not to be found the next day, either. Nobody, aside from the front desk dude, ever reached out to me. I mean... I had requested a conversation with somebody who runs this place. Hellllooooo?  -- By day 3, an envelope was found in our room, reminding us of the need to t

Good apartments for a decent price, but a bit confusing their pet policy as it states here in there policies that pets are allowed and FREE which they are not. I was told a price of 350$ MXN per night… upon telling them they told me I‘m wrong, do customer service wise I’m not so happy. However they were nice and let me change my room because I was initially in a room just above the reception which was horrible and you heard everything. Location is good, room was clean, served its purpose but I’m not sure I would come again.

The room is relatively new and spacious. The bathroom is relatively simple and the towels are of poor quality. The most unacceptable thing is the pillow. I have never slept in something so uncomfortable! The service staff are very nice and enthusiastic. The breakfast included in the hotel is basically nothing except fruit and cheese. You still need to buy eggs and toast yourself. I booked it purely for a business trip and the price was acceptable during the exhibition.

We arrived late in the evening and we had trouble with getting air in our room. We asked them to send someone to fix it while we were at dinner. When we returned to our room, the room was still very hot and the with no air. I was also 6 months pregnant and extremely uncomfortable from the lack of air in the room. My husband was also extremely uncomfortable. In the morning, we asked for the manager, but he did not arrive until later that day. I said I would wait for him. They offered to provide us with a courtesy breakfast which we did not want because we are not breakfast people and we usually eat at the airport. We took the breakfast anyways, in hopes to wait for the manager to call the hotel before our driver arrived. Later in the day, when I reached the manager (Juan Carlos) by phone before our flight, he explained he could not provide us with a discounted rate because we already took the breakfast offer. I explained to him that we would not have taken the breakfast would we have known that it would have been at the cost of the discounted rate. Absolutely ridiculous! I informed him over the phone that I will be writing this review in Tripadvisor, he didn't seem to mind. Do not stay here. Customer service is terrible.
