4 Star Hotels in Koh Samui

Recently stayed at this hotel for 1 week, arrived from the Airport with no luggage as Bangkok airways lost it, checked in to the hotel and was met by a lovely member of staff who was waiting for me, she offered me a welcome drink on arrival which was very much appreciated after a long flight. After check in, was shown to my room which was a pool side deluxe room with Double bed and En-suite. Room was very clean, spacious and came with Fresh towels, Toiletries, a Mini fridge stocked with beers, satellite T.V, Aircon and some free drinks/snacks. My stay came with free breakfast every morning, which was very handy and the selection was always really nice. Lots of fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, eggs cooked to the way you wanted along with a choice of tea/coffee and fresh juices. Staff are soo friendly and welcoming, they clean your room everyday and provide fresh sheets and towels as well as toiletries. The Hotel is quite modern and staff had decorated the reception for Chinese New Year with lanterns and fairy lights. The position of the hotel is good, about 10 min drive in a taxi to Fisherman's village, which is full of bars/restaurants and shops. The hotel is also right on the beach, so you have the option to swim in the sea or the pool and look out onto the amazing views. I loved my stay at this hotel and would highly recommend! (Only negative thing I can think of is that the Pool Bar was never open, so it would be good to see this open in the future).

We stayed in Celes Samui in March 2023. And all in all our holiday was very nice and relaxing. Although we got off to a rocky start. After arriving we were picked up by the hotels shuttle, it was nice not to worry about the transfer. Then we were driven to Celes Samui but we were surprised that we didn't go to the entrance shown on the website but another one just 40m further. This was the entrance to the older Celes Palm Beach Resort (I think this one is advertised as one of the first Resorts on Koh Samui). Right after the first night in our hotel room (very clean, bright and spacious) we discovered bite marks on our feet. We did not know what caused those marks, and thoroughly inspected the bed and the room but found nothing. However the next night we got few more, after which we asked to change the room. The staff was helpful and we were able to change the room without any problem. Unfortunately we ended up in a top floor room in the building right next to the street. This street is very busy also (or especially) at night and it was almost impossible to sleep. So we ask to change room again and luckily could change to a room which was not much further away but already much more silent. After this our holiday preceded nicely. The breakfast is excellent with a big selection of continental/European food and local specialties. The 3 Pools and beach are very clean and the personal is very friendly. Also the proximity to Fisherman's village (~ 1km/15min walking), the SevenEleven just between the two Celes entrances and the many restaurants on the street are a clear Plus. Our main critic is about the advertisement of the hotel: it's important to note that Celes Samui consists of two different hotels which very much feel still separate although pools and restaurants are shared. There are 2 lobbies, 2 gyms, 2 libraries. Also the beach towels have different colors, so everyone knows to which site you belong. It is a small detail but kind of made us feel like the hotel is still separated internally to the more modern side and the other, bit more dated side. During our booking only pictures of the newer, more fancy Celes Samui were shown on the website. However, this area is much smaller and most of the guest will stay in the older, more dated area. It should be more clearly stated during booking where you stay! From the pictures and the previous reviews you get the feeling you will stay in a very calm and tranquilizing environment but if you then end up in the ”tropical zone” it is everything else but calm in case you end up right next to the street. The second comment is the amount of sun chairs in the 2 hotels. On two days we got up early to join the organized jogging trip (which is very nice btw) and to go on a boat tour, and almost all the sunbeds at the beach front pools were already reserved before 7 am! On the beach there are only few sunbeds (maybe around 30), which are only located in front of the older Hotel. The rest of the hotel's beachfront

Overall a very positive experience with super friendly staff and great value for money. Positives- fantastic beachside setting for pool and main restaurant. Large rooms and good value for money. Attention points - breakfast choice is limited which becomes an issue if you are staying more than a few days. There are different types of accommodation available; if you go with a room option it will be away from the beach with only a few villa actually on the beach front.

Away from the hustle of central Chaweng, so is a good spot to be based for quiet times and used as a base to explore the island. Beachfront pool villas are nice, large and great views of the ocean. Private pool is a bonus and well worth the upgrade. Hotel was busy when I stayed and everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. The pool isn’t the largest but plentiful for the amount of rooms. Don’t forget, there are the villas with private pools, so a fair number of guests will be in their own area. Access to the beach is not directly in front of the hotel, but that’s a good thing otherwise I would be hearing everyone in front of my villa each day. Access is the side of the resort just past the restaurant. Along this stretch of beach has a few other hotel bars and restaurants to eat and drink in and if you head to the furtherest headland point, and head inland, you will come across a handful of bars and restaurants. As many people have said, the hotel is next to a road - but like most hotels in Samui, it’s just the design of the island. You can avoid the main road for your walk to the local area by going along the stretch of beach. And when you are on the island, why wouldn’t you want to walk along the beach?! So don’t listen to those comments about nothing nearby. If you want the hustle of the nightlife, Chaweng central is 15 minutes away. Get on the shuttle or order a taxi for 300thb. It’s a 4 star hotel, trying to get back to some kind of normal after covid and over time, I am sure the owners will reinvest their money to make improvements where some other guests have commented about in other posts but I do think it is dependent on the room type you book and/or are assigned as most of them are fine. Give it a go, it is worth it. I’ve been to many hotels over the years - more than the average Joe - and it’s only recently where I’ve checked in and out of two hotels on the same day in all these years.

Rocky is a very nice resort and they deserve a good score. I think they provide an excellent service and the hotel is also very clean. Also the two swimmingpools they have are top notch. The private beach is also a nice addition especially with the sup and the kayak they provide for free. What we also liked was the green surroundings. So all in all a good score for this. Unfortunately there were also a few things we liked less. Rocky’s is quite far from everything, which means that you have to take a taxi all the time, which will costs you a lot of money eventually. A solution for this is to rent a motorscooter a couple of blocks away for 200 baht per day. I highly recommend this. Also our breakfast was not included, so we were charged for each breakfast. This was quite expensive. If you would like to have a less expensive breakfast, you can go to their neighbours, that offer a breakfast of 150 Baht instead of the 500 Baht. And another minor thing is, whenever you rented a motorscooter, the parking place for scooters should have a bit more space. All in all a great resort, especially when you have a big wallet.

We were surprised at the first moment by the way of welcoming, where we were waiting in the reception with a table of our names and a very nice good you came.The staff were very kind and helpful.The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The pool is also very clean, but you have to take care from the morning to find a place, especially if you have fallen into the period of study like us.12 02 2020.It's beautiful completely renovated recently if I'm not wrong since 2018,very much The recommended unreserved for the Chawenk beach, and believe me, because in the matter of stay, I always look very carefully for it. Wir sind beide knapp über 50 und reisen zweimal pro Jahr an die schönsten Flecken unserer Erde, bislang waren wir angefangen von nahezu allen Karibik-Inseln über Sansibar, einige Atolle auf den Malediven bis hin zu Sansibar, Kenia, einmal waren wir 2005 schon in Thailand-Phuket, was aber mit der Schönheit und dem Charme von Koh Samui bei weitem nicht mithalten konnte. Jedoch wussten wir von damals, dass Thailand zu Recht die Bezeichnung ”Land des Lächelns” trägt. Aber dieser Urlaub auf Koh Samui, in diesem traumhaft, romantischen, liebevoll angelegten Hotel TUI BLUE The Passage stellt neue Maßstäbe und wird uns ein Leben lang in Erinnerung bleiben! Beginnen wir mit der Insel: Koh Samui ist ein absoluter Traum und es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Der, der es so ruhig haben möchte wie wir, der sollte die Westseite der Insel wählen, Partytiger die Ostseite mit dem Chaweng Beach (extremer) und dem Lamai Beach (dezenter). Wir haben uns für unseren Urlaub einen Roller gemietet und haben die Insel erkundet, haben sämtliche Aussichtspunkte besucht, sämtliche Strände besucht. Unser Fazit: Wir haben mit unserer Buchung im TUI BLUE The Passage voll ins Schwarze getroffen! Womit wir bei der Hotelbewertung an sich angekommen sind: Ein Strand wie aus dem Bilderbuch! Palmen ohne Ende, Traumstrand, Ruhe und Idylle, was genau das ist, was wir beide so sehr lieben. Das Hotel, wie auf all den Bildern schon bei der Buchung zu erkennen war, liebevoll angelegt. Ein Traum für Romantiker wie uns. Drei angenehm warme Pools, das Meer traumhaft warm, außer uns einige wenige Gäste zu sehen, wenn überhaupt. Die Lage wie gesagt an der Westseite, wer die Ruhe eines Hotels und diese Kulisse zu schätzen weiß und dennoch etwas erleben will, der sollte sich um einige wenige Euros einen Roller ausleihen, dieser kostet für über zwei Wochen so viel, wie bei uns in Österreich die Miete für einen einzigen Tag kosten würde. Zimmer: Wir hatten den Bungalow 305, es ist dies ein Pool Front Bungalow. Schön geräumig, im Eingangsbereich ein Sofa mit Tisch, weiter geht es in den geräumigen Schlafbereich, eine Türe führt in das ebenso geräumige Badezimmer/WC mit einer herrlichen Regendusche. Die Klimaanlage funktioniert wunderbar, das Zimmer ist durch die vielen Fenster sehr hell, man kann es aber komplett abdunkeln. Es gibt einen Wasserkocher samt Zutaten für Kaffee und Tee und jeden Tag bekommt man vier Flaschen Wasser. Es gibt auch noch einen großen Fernseher, jedoch ohne Deutsche Welle, wer jedoch als romantisches, sich liebendes Paar verreist, der hat abends mit diesem Ausblick aus dem Bett auf liebevoll beleuchtete Palmen ohnehin anderes im Sinn als fern zu sehen ;-) Das Zimmer wurde von den Zimmermädchen Tag für Tag perfekt gereinigt, sie sind nicht nur bezaubernd hübsch, sie leisten perfekte Arbeit und dies mit einer Freundlichkeit und einem Lächeln im Gesicht, unbeschreiblich. Mid March, strong winds, strong waves, red flag, can’t swim on Chaweng beach. Last year September Chaweng beach water was so calm and flat, so beautiful, picture perfect, best beach in Koh Samui, but in March, not swimmable. But we found no wind, no waves at Choengmon beach! Ozo, excellent breakfast, nice pool, right on beach. Good sunbeds, clean. if you can get one. There is Ozo rule: one towel per person, no saving sunbed, no outside food or drink. We were shocked by these rules. Good for management, but for guests, not feel so good. We never stayed in a hotel in Thailand with such rules. The biggest negative is it is very noisy at night, up to 3 am, many guest noises and can hear next door toilet flushes, and strange scuffling sound at night behind the walls. The bed is very comfortable but we could not sleep because of the sounds. Finally, the room is just too small, for two people. Balcony so small. We stayed one week, then moved to another hotel in Choengmon beach. We will not stay here again. Didn’t have any memorable experience with the staff. The staff were just staff, not friendly, no smiles. Disappointed.

i want to thank the hotel staff including those who thoughtfully decorated the room for our wedding anniversary, arrangement of flowers and excellent service from the car park security guards, restaurant staff and others who together had made our family trip an unforgetable one. Great swimming pools and ocean view from the balcony for great value for money. One reminder to visitors that you may need to rent a car to commute to and from the hotel for better convenience!! Had an amazing stay at the Bandara resort. We had room 146 which was great and the gardens were Beautiful!! Special shout out to Kitti , who is a fantastic host and made our stay extra special!! A lovely house keeper for our first week who worked very hard to make our room look amazing and smell Devine when came back after a day out. And Faye/kaye sorry I’m not 100% at breakfast she was lovely too. Special staff deserve a special mention!! We will definitely return! Great location to walk to fisherman’s village for great restaurants x 😀
