K Bar S Lodge, Ascend Hotel Collection
4.6/5101 Reviews
I spent a week at the The K Bar S with a Road Scholar group. It is located just outside ”downtown” Keystone in a very scenic area. You can walk to the 1880 train station and the rest of the ”downtown” area in about 20 minutes but the road is narrow and there is no sidewalk. We could see part of Mt. Rushmore from our room and the grounds were spacious and well maintained. Our room was nice, had a private balcony, and daily maid service was available upon request. We ate most of our meals at the hotel and they were very good. I especially enjoyed the bacon at breakfast! I was disappointed that the elevator was out of order as I have osteoarthritis in my knee and managing the steps was painful. In addition, the air conditioning in my room did not work properly. Had it not been for these two issues I would have rated it five stars. It is pretty expensive but it is a very nice property.
Ramada by Wyndham Keystone Near Mt Rushmore
3.8/599 Reviews
Baymont transferred our reservation to Ramada due to remodeling issues. Very disappointed with the small room as you had to bend your head to skinny around the hanging TV to get to other side of bed. The toilet was so low to the floor you felt like you were falling down but you could lower the ironing board hanging on the wall to do you ironing while sitting on the throne. Two ice machines were broken making it difficult to locate ice. Fire alarm went off as we had just gone to bed with no clear direction on what we needed to do or if it was safe to go back to our room. Close to a number of our destinations and some good food/menu options on the Boardwalk within walking distance. Garbage laying in hallways and outside the doors that guests would discard. Would not stay here again.
Magnuson Grand Rushmore View

Very nice and so much to see in the area. Many places to eat. Didn't take pictures my sister took all the pictures. The train ride didn't give us enough time to unload,go to the bathroom and not enough time to get something to eat.
Roosevelt Inn Mount Rushmore
4.3/5101 Reviews
We stayed here one night on our way out to Yellowstone & Grand Teton. As a big TR fan, I couldn't resist booking here. We stayed in the off-season and during the height of Covid in late 2021, so many of the local hotels, as well as restaurants and shops, were shut for the season. No worries, we had a perfectly great stay here and breakfast in the morning had lots of options, and staff kept the food coming. It was a very short drive from here to Mt. Rushmore and also a fairly quick ride to and from Deadwood, which we went to see since we were nearby. No complaints from us about this inn. Also, passing along a tip we received before visiting -- if you can stand to do it, time your visit to Rushmore at sunrise. We did and it was just glorious to see the monument bathed in golden sunlight. Due to Covid and off-season timing, some areas around the viewing area were roped off, including the artist's area, which I'd wanted to see.
