Hepburn Escape Villa

Hepburn Springs|0.59km from downtown
Booked at Hepburn Springs Escape for an anniversary getaway. The design of the complex is stunning - each room cantilevered overlooking, well either the road or the car park of the adjacent springs complex. Even still, it’s a pretty impressive location. We stayed in villa 1 which is the farthest from the road and right next to the forest so little noise. The layout is great - big open bathroom with spa, not so comfortable to lay in if you’re over 5.5 foot tall. The bed, super comfy, the quality of the linen, toiletries all reflect the price point. Sadly, from here the rest left us feeling a little ripped off. Having read reviews on various sites which claim the standards of maintenance are such that guests feel nervous putting a glass down without a coaster under it and given the emphasis on having ‘clean and sanitised’ Covid safe spaces, I was expecting the room to be spotless. Unfortunately it seemed as if the cleaner got so far, decided to duck off early and leave the room half done. The cleanliness of the villa was below average. Glass cleaned with dirty cloths, bird bathroom mirror had been wiped down with a dirty cloth leaving greasy streaks, floor not mopped and shower not wiped down completely Glass doors and balustrade were streaky and greasy. Curtains with missing or broken hooks which meant the curtain sagged, even down to a broken plastic bin that hasn’t bothered to be replaced. All of this aside, it was actually the large toenail cutting which had been left/missed/ignored in the middle of the balcony floor that nearly put me over the edge. To immerse yourself in pure luxury, as they claim to offer guests to relax and unwind in is difficult when you’ve forked out nearly $300 for a room which desperately needs a good scrub down and some much needed maintenance! Sadly it doesn’t come close to pure luxury.

Deeply disappointed by this accommodation. The service is poor to non-existent. At reception they give you a door access code and that is it. They could not assist us in turning to fire completely off, getting the television to work, or any other queries. A person came to fix the TV and gave up after 30 minutes. Also there is no WiFi - ridiculous for this level / cost of accommodation. The room looked great on the surface however had the following issues: -- bad servicing, a mess of cables which had not been secured and a pair of underwear still in the cupboard (classy!) -- terrible design, the fire does not turn off so constantly sends a low level of heat, and the aircon does not match the size of the room. It was mid-20s temperature when we stayed and by the end of the day it was uncomfortably hot. -- impractical design. Side windows next to the bed (and everywhere) meant that to get changed you had to hide in the loo, or close all the blinds. And the fireplace is positioned so that it blocks the view from the bed. Shower visible from out the windows too! -- a kitchen that was useless. No bowls (we ate cereal out of the water glasses), insufficient cutlery for 2 people and a random assortment of kitchen gear / crockery which meant that what was it was impractical to do anything other than open wine or a pack of dip. It felt very much like someone intended to delivery luxury and then skimped on the design, furnishing (couch from Freedom!) and taking the time to plan a functional and enjoyable space.

Well we did some research into what was available around Daylesford in terms of an overnight room in this location for we had a family members 80th Birthday and decided that we my wife and I would leave on the Friday after work and be fresh for the function the next day. So Sunday the 13th the week before the event I called the venue and I found that Daylesford Central Motor Inn had a King Deluxe Suite for $195.00 per night or a Superior Queen Bed Room for $164.00 so I said that i would book the King Deluxe room and could they please offer some places that could assist in catering. I emailed the next day and requested that if we book additional night could we have it at a reduced rate they replied that if we wanted a cheaper room then the Superior Queen Bed Room was a better option and no room was available for the following night. So I replied that we would stay with our first option and could they please confirm our booking. On Monday I emailed and asked for confirmation of our booking... It never came. I assumed that at least we had a booking. I called on Friday evening as I said that I would to say that we were on our way from outer East of melbourne and we will arrive late the person who answered the phone said oh sorry I did not check emails and yes i see it is the Queen room.. When we arrived at the venue we found that the Superior Queen Room was no more than a cabin type room with very little room around the bed and very very basic facilities. So lesson learnt and questions asked what makes a room Superior and you can make a photo look so much better than it really is. Side note to this is my wife and I left her medi pillow behind and remember that the person booking us in knew that we were going to be in town at the family function did not contact us to let us know of our mistake so by the time we got home and discovered our mistake and called them they said oh wait I will go and look. When he called back he said oh yes i have found it I will post it back to you at your cost. Lesson please look for reviews.

Hotel Bellinzona Daylesford

Recently renovated with stylish spacious rooms ( albeit noisy). The artwork whilst interesting was over done to point of boredom. The property presents well both in accommodation and public spaces - but that’s where it stops - cosy bar and lounge opened for two hours only on a Friday night of several days stay. First night although quite cold no fires going - welcoming atmosphere’zero’. You have to go down and get your only drinks in cafe and bring them up yourselves- self service 5 star!!! Ordered a cognac in evening and served in whisky glass - he didn’t know what a bandy balloon was. Dining room closed - cafe downstairs open but just a cafe! Noisy with hard concrete floors and glass plus groups makes it far from peaceful for a meal plus barista’s over enthusiastic ‘banging’ of milk jug was to much! The website states bar and restaurant/ dining of luxurious style however of service was non-existent ( staff accompanied all requests with a negative excuse) and reflex’s poor on management ( missing in action) and owners who should stick to development and get experienced management to operate it. One owner we did meet was full of excuses, over patronising and not at all interested in resolving the issue. In summary Over rated and over priced’ Unlike General MacArthur - we shall not return!

Lovely place to stay in every way! Great location, very clean and great prices! Gil the manager was so helpful and kind. So close to the reserve around the corner and a bunch of beautiful restaurants and cafes which are walking distance! Stayed 3 nights and will definitely be back! Brilliant! Lovely trees, birds and wildlife around plus quite a few spa retreats which are very close too! Thank you Gil and staff! Amazing!

The accomodation and experience was spectacular. It was presented very clean, tidy and professional and was very easy to find and access. The location is superb, and the downstairs rooms boast stunning views of the nature outside. It’s the perfect escape. The bathtubs were spacious and high quality, and the variety meant there was multiple ways to relax, right there at the accommodation. The spa jet was relaxing, and the giant stone bath was soothing and calming. There is plenty of activities and adventures located near the accommodation. The main strip is just up the road, and there are plenty of bath houses nearby.
