Dorint Hotel am Heumarkt Koeln

Cologne City Center Cologne|0.78km from Kathe-Kollwitz-Museum
Sadly this is NOT a 5 star hotel and I don’t even know how they got that rating. They may have been at one point but unfortunately my experience there was not of a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly however the hotel itself was very underwhelming. Upon arrival there was a paper stuck on the elevator saying there will be no water after midnight for the next 3 days . We then got a room on the 6th floor which had a nice view of the street, however at 8am in the morning we were woken up by drilling sounds from a floor above us and when we complained to the staff they said there was nothing they could do about it, we then finally got moved to the second floor, but the furniture in that room was so old rusty and outdated in my opinion. My boyfriend wanted to go take a nice swim in the pool that is advertised on their website only to realize that using it is an extra charge as the pool does not belong to the hotel. The pillows we had were also very bad, usually you get a set of about 2-3 pillows in 5 star hotels but we only got 1 flat pillow each which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Sadly the only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to everything, about 5 minutes to the main station and the supermarket is right across the street as are most restaurants. The Rhein river is also quite close. I believe the hotel has a lot of improvement to do but it seems they are not even considering improvement any time soon. After the not so great experience we had we thought maybe they might offer some sort of compensation but nothing was offered. Once again this is really not a 5 star hotel so don’t be fooled.

Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne - MGallery

Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and the best hotel from Accor Hotels. I had accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay. As soon as I realised it, I contacted the hotel. The staff helped me to change my reservation dates. While on my trip, due to the strikes in France and problems with the train connections I had to postpone my meeting online. I sent an email to request to check in early since I will be having my meeting at 1 p.m. Ms Wulff made the necessary arrangements prior to my arrival. On my arrival I was able to check in early and able to proceed with my online meeting. Without her help I would not be able to conduct my meeting. On the next day, I had another online meeting. Her colleague made the necessary arrangements so that the housekeeping team could get the room cleaned before lunch and my next online appointment. Till date I have stayed in a number of hotels from the Accor Hotels group. In comparison to M Gallery am Konzerthaus in Wien, Hotel Mondial am Dom in Cologne exceeds my expectations. Professionalism The staff at the reception were not only friendly and good at what they are doing, they are also willing to help and went an extra mile to make things possible. I would not have been able to get my work done if they did not help me. Even when checking out, the staff was professional and showed interest to assist customers whenever they dan. Splendid Location Situation a few minutes walk from the train station and the main city area, is this hotel definite one of the most strategic location in Cologne. View of the Cathedral I managed to get a glimpse of the cathedral from my room. Dinner I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was not only affordable, the service was impeccable. The waiter even suggested where I could sit so that I can get the best view of the area. Awesome! I would like to thank the remarkable staff for making my stay in Köln memorable und unforgettable. I would definitely be staying in this hotel again when I visit Cologne. Mauritius Hotel & Therme

Cologne|0.39km from Kathe-Kollwitz-Museum
We enjoyed our stay and would go again. Room comfortable, staff pleasant and helpful, we slept very well indeed. Breakfast is good and plentiful but at 19 euros a head on top of the cost of the room it is expensive. The Mauritius feels more like a spa with a hotel rather than a hotel with a spa. So you do see people going through reception (and the restaurant area) wearing bathrobes, which is what happens in a spa. The spa itself is terrific and unlike breakfast is included in the price (although it may be that you need to pay for robe hire). This being Germany, full nudity is obligatory in all the saunas plus the steam room and cold plunge pool. It’s optional in the swimming pools and jacuzzis although in practice this means that most of the people using these are also fully nude. That said, if shedding your costume isn’t up for discussion, there is absolutely no problem with wearing it in the pools and jacuzzis so long as you’re comfortable sharing them with people who aren’t wearing a stitch. It does follow from this that there is an age restriction on entering the whole area, so it’s not the place for a family pool experience. You might also want to take your own flip flops as the hotel-issue ones don’t have much grip on a wet surface. A final word on the costs of the hotel overall – it seems to make quite a difference which night(s) of the week you stay – it might pay to play around with different combinations of nights to see which options are most cost-effective.

a&o Köln Neumarkt

This was my first time staying at a hostel as I wanted a bit of traveller experience and most importantly keep my trip to Cologne cheap and affordable for three days. I read tons of reviews before I opted to stay at a&o and I was convinced this was ideal place in terms of location, affordability and also getting the best experience as a traveller. On my arrival, I was greeted with a warm welcome by there friendly staff at reception, I quickly observed what they had to offer and in honesty not much, a small lounge area with a small bar but they did have a pool table...I didn't mind too much as I knew I would be out most of the day. I was told I be staying in a 6 bed room (mixed) which I was ok with as I wanted to meet people, I had to pay around 5 Euros for sheets and a towel as this is not included to my surprise. There was no locker but a secure cage under the bed and If I wanted to securely lock it I would had to pay a refundable 20 Euro deposit to get a padlock from reception. The room was ok, it was clean and had good lighting but space was limited. There was separate toilet and shower room which I felt was convenient and was kept in a good condition. During the night, I didn't really get the best of sleep as you can hear a lot of people talking and walking up and down the hall way. Also, it's a 24hr check in so therefore anyone could come stay in the room at anytime which sometime kept me restless. It's also worth mentioning, this hostel accommodates pretty much everyone, from couples, big groups, school trips and family which during my stay I saw plenty of. The hostel is in a good location, 10-20 mins walk and you will find yourself surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and in the central part of Cologne. My overall thoughts of staying at a&o is, it's a good place, friendly staff and pretty much everything at your doorstep. Not the best of sleeps I've had and knowing anyone could come in at any time was not ideal. I didn't always feel that my personal stuff was safe and secured but that's just me and I was a bit let down with the lack of facilities the hostel had to offer. I defiantly would recommend staying there if you come in a group but if alone no more than one night. Would I stay there again or at any hostel for that matter...probably not! If you're a hotel person like me then I would suggest to keep it like that.

25Hours Hotel Cologne the Circle

The design of the hotel is very special, being housed in an old insurance company’s head quarters. The theming around space is very cool without feeling cheesy or over the top. Very instagrammable elevators! We arrived late but the front desk team was ready for our arrival. The friendly front desk team member got us a generous upgrade to a larger room facing the dome! The room was spacious with an integrated bathroom with a large shower. We loved the modern design of the room. Everything you might need as available, free minibar, desk, plenty of space, big TV, many windows, live plants. We went to the bar for a drink, there was a big group having drinks and the staff was busy but still friendly. Drinks were decent! Breakfast at Neni was delicious, with loads of choices and very high quality! We would have expected some other Middle Eastern specialties than hummus. The breakfast is 100% self service so there was almost no interaction with the staff. But the little contact we had they were very friendly! For a breakfast without any service I would have expected them to be more attentive when cleaning plates/ setting up tables. Check out was quick an really friendly. Still my favourite 25hours Hotel in Germany so far!

I thought it was a hotel room, but found out that I rented the entire apartment. There is a restaurant, but no tableware. It is very spacious, close to the station and close to Cologne Cathedral.
Tante ALMA's Hotel Lasthaus am Ring

In the context of a concert visit, I had the opportunity to stay in this cozy hotel. As already seen on the homepage, the hotel is characterized by a lovely and charming concept: guests can admire and enjoy the heartfulness and style of tante Alma; almost as, as if you were to visit his own grandmother. The furniture and the deco are consistent and beautiful without kissing. The rooms are very clean, offer sufficient space and the beds are really super-comfortable. Both the coffee cranch and the small breakfast are served in Almas living room, which is also furnished with much love for detail. However, breakfast can be quite full and thus (depending on the seat) a little troublesome. But it did not disturb me, because it was not hectic or noisy, but rather mediated the feeling of being part of a large family, where always busy driving is bound to go. The hotel is excellent thanks to the proximity to the Dom/Main Station and the bars/restaurants and shops in the direct environment. Positively surprised me, the noises from outside were hardly heard in the room; so I could really slimmer completely uninterrupted. All in all, I can recommend this hotel without limits and thank you very warmly on this way with the always sympathetic and friendly staff that immediately enchanted a smile in your face! If I come back to Cologne, I will certainly visit Aunt Alma again!
