Hostels in Zhejiang, China

I'd heard great things about Backpacker Ten Years (Beibao Shinian) for a while, and experiencing it in Hangzhou definitely confirms it's the best hostel in China. Check-in starts at 2 PM, and they provide a bottle of water, slippers, and a towel – things many other hostels don't offer, but Backpacker Ten Years does. The first floor has a bar and social common area, the second floor is a reading space, and the fourth floor is for accommodations. The environment is really clean. I also experienced a strong hostel culture here, playing Werewolf and going out with new friends. My two-day stay was so enriching, I'll definitely choose Backpacker Ten Years again next time!

This place is okay but I had slightly higher expectations to be honest. Cleanliness is alright, they give you a bag with a small towel upon request, both to be returned. Has free water dispensers, toiletries and a microwave. Common areas don't have a vibe but you can prepare and have your food and play video games as everyone else. The biggest common area is to the right side of the reception, which, as per usual, they don't tell you. There is that Olympic Stadium nearby, but the city center is actually on the other side of the river. From here you will either need to take public transportation or a cab to West Lake or other interesting parts of town. Walking to the light show on the other side of the river bank took more than 1.5 hrs and it is not supposed to be walked. There are no useful signs on the building but the way to get here is to use the ”hotel entrance” and use the single elevator straight ahead. Do not turn right to use the elevators in the elevator room. If you do, only the very right one brings you to the 5th floor where you will check in. Very confusing and no signs to help you. It also might take a bit until the right elevator arrives. The shoe rack was inside the room, which resulted in a very smelly room. Guitar with old strings, barely playable. If I came back, I'd rather try out another place.

The location is pretty good, close to West Lake and the subway station, making it easy to find. There's a 'Xiaohongche' (shared bike station) right downstairs at the entrance. Floors 8-10 all belong to the same establishment, with the front desk on the 9th floor. Floors 8 and 9 are for accommodation, and the 10th floor is for recreational activities. It would be better if the male and female dorms were on separate floors, as currently, there are both male and female dorms on the same floor.

On the shores of West Lake, I found a hostel I'd happily return to again and again. To be honest, the name initially caught my attention. But after staying there, I realized the details are what truly make you want to stay. 🛏 Cleanliness: Linens are changed for each guest, and the duvets smell like sunshine. The shower rooms are wet/dry separated, so there's no standing water after showering. 🚽 Surprise: A smart toilet! That's a top-tier amenity for a hostel at this price point. 🎸 Atmosphere: In the evenings, you can hear guitar music in the common area. If you don't feel like socializing, you can just relax and listen to the music. If you want to chat, someone will naturally join in. No one judges you; it's very laid-back. 📍 Location: Right by West Lake, within walking distance, and surrounded by plenty of food options. Next time I'm in Hangzhou, I'll definitely stay at 'Jian Zhi Er Qi' again.

The front desk staff were incredibly patient and gentle, just absolutely wonderful! 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Choosing this hostel for my trip was definitely the right decision; the overall experience exceeded my expectations, and I'm extremely satisfied. The location is excellent, not far from the subway station and tourist attractions, making it very convenient for getting around and finding food. It's also easy to locate. The hostel itself is clean and cozy, with public areas that are simply and comfortably furnished, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Everything is thoroughly cleaned, the beds are tidy, and there's plenty of storage space. The bathroom areas are dry-wet separated and impeccably clean, with no unpleasant odors. The staff are warm, friendly, and approachable, always patiently answering any questions. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time and wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow travelers!

Located in the West Lake Scenic Area, close to Tiger Run. The public area is quite large, with a courtyard.

Close to the station, more convenient

Not in Wenzhou City. It is a small island on the edge of Wenzhou City called Dongtou. Then in the center of this island (a little on the side) three stops from the bus station terminal. Get off at (Haixia Square Station). The Youth Hostel is oversized and has many rooms. I feel that there are no people that day, clean and hygienic. There is a big dog in the store) very good. There is a battery car in the store. It is very convenient to ride a battery car. The weather was not good in those days and it rained from time to time. The first day was the reception of the proprietress and the next day I saw the boss. They are all pretty good. In comparison, The bed is generally given (just a flat panel, no curtains), but it’s fine to stay for one night (and it can inspire me to get up at dawn the next day. It’s not bad for the bed). The proprietress saw that my clothes were thin and riding a motorbike would be cold and offered me a coat. I am very grateful.

I was really satisfied with the room; it offered great value for money. This guesthouse is quite unique, located within an ancient building. Best of all, there was no formaldehyde smell from renovations, which I'm very sensitive to. While it might be a bit old and small, the overall experience was excellent. They even have their own restaurant, which hosts events every night at 9 PM, like movie screenings, dancing, and releasing river lanterns. The value here is truly unbeatable. Plus, the location is superb – just a 3-minute walk to Lu Xun's Former Residence, right within the scenic area. Highly recommend it, it's really good!

The service was excellent!!! The front desk lady was very considerate and attentive assisting me even before arriving. Later, she promptly helped me on how to get transportation for different sightseeings in Hangzhou, facilitating my stay. The night attendant (a young boy) was also helpful and approachable. The hostel ´s location is just 2-minute walk from a 7-Eleven for essentials and a 5-minute walk from the station. The common area is inviting, with many places to sit and relax, and a water dispenser. Also, the shared dormitory bathroom is very clean. I've enjoyed very much my stay at the hostel :)
