Choosing Century Dream Cruises for this trip was a great success. Firstly, this was Century Dream's second voyage since its maiden voyage on September 21, 2026. The ship was brand new, the cabins were cozy, the service was attentive, and the facilities were comprehensive, including a bar, laundry room, fitness center, and KTV. The food was plentiful and varied. Secondly, both onboard and shore activities were well-organized. Thirdly, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the complimentary airport shuttle service made travel convenient. Overall, the experience was fantastic! I hope more tourists will choose Century Dream Cruises!

✨This cruise experience exceeded my expectations! The ship was clean and elegant, the food was plentiful and delicious, and the service was attentive and thoughtful. The river breeze and views during the cruise were incredibly soothing. Disembarking at shore allowed for exploration, the pace was relaxed and unhurried, and the whole family had a wonderful time. A fantastic vacation, highly recommended! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the public areas had a wonderful atmosphere. There were many dining options, from main courses to snacks, so you could satisfy your cravings anytime. I'll definitely come back! The butler, Xiong Luxi, from the Century Voyage Performing Arts Department, provided excellent service; she was very attentive and a beautiful young woman.

Highly Recommended Family Cruise Our family of six had a wonderful 4D3N Century Glory Cruise experience from Chongqing to Yichang. Trip.com provided excellent support before and after booking. Special thanks to 小莹 from Century Cruise for patiently answering all our itinerary questions and helping us change our booking to twin-bed rooms. The check-in process was smooth, organised, and efficient. Onboard service was excellent throughout the journey, from meal service to the coordination of shore excursions. Room service exceeded our expectations, with cabins cleaned twice daily, including evening housekeeping. The scenery, comfortable accommodation, and attentive service made this a memorable family holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and would highly recommend Century Cruise to anyone including international travellers visiting the Yangtze River. 🚢😊

I brought my wife, a woman in her 30s. In my youth, I traveled upstream through the Three Gorges from Yichang, but this experience was completely different. Back then, the Three Gorges Dam wasn't built yet, the Gezhouba Dam's No. 3 lock was in its prime, the Three Gorges were towering cliffs, the Xiling Gorge was littered with garbage, and the Lesser Three Gorges still had boat trackers. Now, apart from the Qutang Gorge and the Qutang Gorge, the natural scenery of the other sections of the Yangtze isn't particularly breathtaking. But I don't complain; it's a different kind of experience. Enjoying the scenery on both banks of the Yangtze on the now exceptionally clean water, feeling its relentless flow, and experiencing its constant renewal. The activities were well-planned, well-paced, and meaningful. Everyone could choose and arrange their time according to the day's itinerary. Coincidentally, it was the third day of the cruise, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and my wife and I even made mooncakes and glutinous rice cakes. The rooms were small but well-designed, cozy, and comfortable. The staff were diligent in cleaning the rooms without making us feel disturbed; we never encountered any issues. The buffet wasn't particularly amazing, but the selection was plentiful, and you could tell the kitchen was dedicated to the food and responsible to their guests. The servers were all very enthusiastic and polite young people. More than half the passengers were foreigners, and the children were very generous with their bilingual service; I heard they take a vacation every three months. We were very fortunate that the weather was ideal throughout the voyage. When we departed from Chaotianmen, the moon was bright and the stars were few; we set off under the moonlight amidst the dazzling night view of Chaotianmen. It was cloudy when we passed through the Qutang and Wu Gorges. The wind was incredibly strong on the top deck, but we didn't have to suffer from the scorching sun while crossing the Three Gorges. I don't know why there were no shore excursions to Baidi City. I visited Baidi City years ago and looked towards the Qutang Gorge from there. Back then, the Three Gorges Dam resettlement hadn't started on a large scale yet; now, I hope the Three Gorges migrants have settled down and prospered in their new homes. The only downside was that four days and three nights was too short. I wish I could have enjoyed a longer vacation on the ship! 😄

The cruise service was excellent and very attentive. The rooms were fully equipped with refrigerators, safes, and umbrellas—very practical! While the cruise food selection wasn't extensive, each meal was different, showing great care, and the food was delicious and fresh! The shore excursions weren't tiring, making it easy for seniors to walk around, and the tour guides were very attentive. The whole experience was perfect for accompanying elderly people—not much walking, not tiring! Half a day of shore excursions, half a day of cruise rest, and an evening show—a well-planned itinerary with activities, rest, and entertainment! 5-star review!

Yichang is celebrated for its diverse attractions including the grand Three Gorges Dam, picturesque sceneries along the Qingjiang River, the culturally rich Tribe of the Three Gorges, and the majestic Three Gorges Waterfall, offering a blend of educational and leisure experiences amidst technological marvels and natural beauty.

Yichang Transportation

Yichang's transportation infrastructure is well-developed, with Yichang Sanxia Airport and Yichang East Railway Station being the primary gateways for intercity travel. Yichang Sanxia Airport (IATA: YIH, ICAO: ZHYC) is located approximately 26 kilometers from the city center and serves as a crucial air hub for the region. The airport operates flights to a variety of domestic and international destinations, making it an important connection point for travelers. To reach the city from Yichang Sanxia Airport, passengers can take a taxi or arrange for a private car, which takes about 40 minutes to reach downtown Yichang. Yichang East Railway Station, formerly known as Huayan Railway Station, is a major railway junction for the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu high-speed railway. It is located 11 kilometers southeast of Yichang downtown and offers high-speed train services to several major cities, including Wuhan, Shanghai, and Beijing. Passengers can take a taxi or bus to travel from the station to the city, with taxis being the most convenient option.

Yichang Where to Stay

Yichang is strategically positioned as a significant hub for Yangtze River cruises and offers diverse accommodation options concentrated in several key areas, each providing distinct experiences for travelers.

Yichang Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Yichang is during the spring and autumn seasons. Specifically, from April to June and September to November, visitors can experience the most beautiful aspects of the city. During these months, the weather is comfortable, and the natural scenery is at its peak, with spring bringing blooming flowers and moderate temperatures, while autumn showcases the beautiful fall foliage. These seasons offer an ideal climate for exploring Yichang's outdoor attractions, such as the Shennongjia and the Three Gorges Dam, without the extreme temperatures found in summer and winter.

Yichang Useful Guide

Yichang, located in Hubei Province, China, predominantly speaks Mandarin Chinese, the official language of the country. While Mandarin is prevalent, Yichang's proximity to various ethnic groups suggests the presence of minority languages and dialects. Travelers to Yichang can utilize translation apps or local interpretation services to overcome language barriers. Effective communication can also be achieved through gestures, maps, and facial expressions. Understanding key phrases in Mandarin can significantly enhance the travel experience in Yichang.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
The night before disembarkation, affix luggage tags to all checked bags as instructed by the cruise operator and leave them at the marked zone outside your cabin. Do not pack items required for the next day such as daily wear, official documents and valuables into checked luggage. Retain your passport, room key and hand luggage with yourself. On disembark day, exit your cabin by the stated timing and proceed ashore in allocated groups per announcements. Avoid remaining inside the cabin. Inspect every drawer, closet and cabin safe thoroughly. Exact timings and baggage rules follow the cruise line’s Disembarkation Guide.

The m/s Paul Gauguin has completed its multi-million-dollar refurbishment

The m/s Paul Gauguin has completed its multi-million-dollar refurbishment

Paul Gauguin Cruises, the French Polynesia destination expert and winner of Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 Readers' Choice Award for "Best Small Cruise Ship," announced that the 330-passenger m/s Paul Gauguin has recently completed a seven-week refurbishment in Singapore. This comprehensive multi-million-dollar renovation features refreshed spatial designs, upgraded guest facilities, and sustainable technology enhancements to continuously elevate passengers' "seamless and carefree" cruise experience. Key highlights of the refurbishment include a modern makeover for the popular Le Grill restaurant, a redesigned pool deck with shaded cabana seating areas, four new connecting staterooms, updated soft furnishings throughout the ship, and sustainable technology upgrades. The redesign was led by globally renowned transportation design firm Stirling Design International, whose innovative approach perfectly aligns with Paul Gauguin Cruises' artistic ambiance and authentic exploration ethos. Interwoven latticework, canvas elements, and warm wood finishes harmonize beautifully with breathtaking tropical landscapes, showcasing a modern aesthetic that coexists with nature. Refurbishment highlights of m/s Paul Gauguin: Connecting Staterooms: Four new connecting staterooms have been added on Deck 7 to meet the growing demand for multigenerational (family) travel, complementing the highly successful "Moana Explorer Program" for children aged 6 to 15—a program developed in partnership with Te mana o te moana, the South Pacific's premier marine education and conservation foundation. Le Grill Restaurant Makeover: The open-air restaurant by the pool features a stylish, contemporary design with white wooden screens, ceramic tiles, soft oak furniture, and chic lighting, creating an elegant dining atmosphere for guests to enjoy the ship's renowned culinary offerings. Pool Deck Transformation: The pool deck now boasts new white canopies providing shade for cabana-style seating areas, while the pool's exterior is adorned with new mosaic tiles. Spacious white loungers surround the space, offering guests a perfect spot for relaxation. Sustainable Technology: The ship now features advanced heat recovery systems, high-efficiency chillers, and optimized electric motors to significantly reduce energy consumption. A new seawater treatment system produces fresh water onboard, while the Nordaq filtration system creates drinking water from seawater, helping eliminate plastic bottles and minimize single-use plastics. Waste management improvements include glass crushers and cardboard compactors for efficient recycling. Visual Upgrades: Paying homage to parent company PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP, the ship's funnel now displays PONANT's iconic "Three Sails" logo, crafted from polished steel with LED backlighting for striking nighttime visibility. Additionally, Paul Gauguin Cruises' "P-shaped emblem" is prominently positioned at the bow of Deck 8, while the sleek white hull incorporates modern gray accents. These designs reflect the shared values of the group's brands, embodying a commitment to authentic exploration and maritime spirit. The m/s Paul Gauguin returned to French Polynesia in May for year-round operations, continuing to offer its award-winning all-inclusive luxury cruises with 7- to 14-night island itineraries to the Society Islands, Tuamotu Archipelago, Cook Islands, and Marquesas Islands.
