The shows and tge ambience are exceptional. However we did had to fight for the complementary regular drinking water, regular tea and regular coffee at the main dining as we did not have a drink package.

Plus: some of the cruise service crew provided excellent service, there were several facilities onboard to cater to all ages, food was plenty and tasty, good experience at Naha, Okinawa; it has its own unique charm without the crowd. Minus: long walk to board the cruise at Shanghai, a real struggle for my elderly parents. Our first dinner at the dining hall was chaotic; no one informed us that we’ve been pre-assigned dining times until we reached our turn after queuing for quite some time. As we were one of the last passengers to board, there was no service staff on standby at the entrance to greet and assist us to our cabin rooms, we had to go high and low to look for the relevant service staff. Our cabin room was a bit cramp for three adults. Toilet within the cabin room can only fit one person at a time.

Booked through NATAS Fair at a good price, with complimentary one-way transportation from home to Marina Bay Cruise Centre (MBCC), which was a great bonus! We stayed in Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah #10162 (Forward). The room was great, and the king-sized bed was comfortable. The ship was also very stable throughout the cruise, making the sailing experience pleasant. As for the food, we really enjoyed the Western and Indian selections! However, the Chinese and Japanese-style dishes were not quite to our taste. Overall, we had a great first Disney Cruise experience!

Our first cruise trip with our family of five was fantastic! First and foremost, a huge thank you to our tour guide, Li Zheng. We'd always traveled independently before, so this was our first time on a group tour. Li Zheng was incredibly kind and patient, with a vast knowledge of everything from astronomy to geography. Listening to her explain various aspects of European history was far more interesting than any history class we'd ever attended. When we met other Chinese tour guides at the hotel, they were nothing compared to her! Even my mom said she'd definitely book a tour with Li Zheng next time. The second pleasant surprise was that we were given an extra room on the cruise. We were supposed to be three people sharing a room, but when we got our tickets, we discovered one of us had a single room, so the room wasn't cramped at all. The only downside was that the beds on the cruise were quite small, which wasn't ideal for us accustomed to the large beds in Chinese dorms. The two days of land travel were quite a lot of driving; European traffic is terrible. It would have been perfect if we had done the land travel first and then gone on the ship. In short, thank you, Li Zheng! 5 stars!

The food and beverage service was satisfactory, and the cabin cleaning service, which was done two or three times a day, was also good. However, other aspects, such as the attitude of the front desk staff and travel advisors, were just average, and the entertainment options were relatively limited.

Florence Transportation

Florence is accessible by air through its compact airport or nearby Pisa for low-cost options, with seamless train or bus links to the historic center. High-speed trains and buses connect major European cities. By Air: Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR) – Florence: This small, modern airport is located just 5 km (3 miles) from Florence's city center. To City Center - Tram T2: exit the arrivals area and follow the signs to the tram stop, which is a 5-minute walk away. This tram line connects directly to the main train station, Santa Maria Novella (SMN), as well as the nearby Unità tram stop. Trams run frequently, every 5 to 10 minutes, from 5 AM to 12:30 AM. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes. Tickets are €2 and can be purchased at machines (accepting cash and card) or through the TABNET app. - Bus: from the bus stops outside arrivals, take the Volainbus or ATAF lines to Santa Maria Novella. The bus runs every 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the Giunti bookstore in the airport or directly on the bus. - Taxis: Official white taxis are available from the ranks outside arrivals; they operate 24/7 and can accommodate up to 4 passengers. Fixed rates apply for trips to the city center (approximately €22–€26), with additional charges for nighttime, holidays, and luggage. The journey typically takes about 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic. - Ride-Shares: Bolt, Uber, and FreeNow can be accessed from the parking area, as directed by the app. The fare to the city center ranges from €20 to €30 and takes about 15 minutes, with potential surges during peak times. It’s advisable to book your ride after landing. A cheaper alternative to taxis. Pisa International Airport (PSA), also known as Galileo Galilei Airport, is a popular low-cost hub located about 80 km (50 miles) west of the city of Florence.  - PisaMover shuttle + train: The PisaMover monorail connects Pisa Airport to Pisa Centrale train station in just 5 minutes. From Pisa Centrale, you can catch frequent trains to Florence's Santa Maria Novella (SMN) station. Regional trains typically take about 50 to 80 minutes for the journey. The total cost for this trip is approximately €15, which includes around €5 for the PisaMover and about €10 for the train ticket. Tickets can be purchased at machines or through the Trenitalia app, and you can pay with cash or a card. This option offers a scenic and reliable route, but make sure to check the schedules. - Bus: You can take either Terravision or Autostradale buses from the stands outside the arrivals section to Santa Maria Novella. The buses will either stop at the "Guidoni" stop on the T2 tram line or at the Santa Maria Novella train station, depending on the service you choose. Tickets usually cost between €15 and €20, and the journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Tickets can be purchased online or onboard (cash or card accepted), making it a direct and budget-friendly option. - Taxis or Ride-shares: €150-200 for a taxi to Florence (approximately 60 minutes), available from ranks; service is 24/7. By Train: High-speed and regional trains connect Florence to major cities across Italy and Europe. Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) is the main train station in Florence, conveniently located within walking distance of most attractions. It offers frequent, high-speed trains from Trenitalia and Italo that connect Florence with Rome in approximately 1.5 hours and Milan in about 2 hours. You can also travel by train from many European cities, usually with transfers in Milan, Rome, or Bologna. By Bus: Long-distance buses offer an alternative to trains for both domestic and international travel, often at a lower cost. You can find FlixBus and BlaBlaCar Bus services at the Santa Maria Novella or Firenze Guidoni terminals.

Florence Where to Stay

Florence, with its small size and intricate urban fabric, offers a diverse range of accommodation options, primarily condensed in a few key areas that appeal to various types of travelers. These areas, each with unique characteristics, ensure that visitors enjoy the historical, architectural, and cultural delights of Florence while providing convenient access to transport and major attractions.

Florence Best Time to Visit

Florence has a mild Mediterranean climate, with hot and crowded summers; spring and fall offer pleasant weather, blooming foliage, and festivals with moderate crowds. It’s best to avoid winter due to rain and cold, unless visiting for the Christmas markets.

Florence Travel Tips

1. Check Duomo's Closing Days: The Florence Cathedral (Duomo) is closed on Sundays, Christmas Day, and other key religious holidays like Easter. Verify the opening hours and plan your visit accordingly to avoid disappointment. 2. Photography Restrictions in Museums: Many museums in Florence prohibit flash photography and some may not allow photography at all. For instance, the Accademia Gallery prohibits flash, tripods, and videos. The Uffizi Galleries allow non-flash photography for personal use but prohibit tripods and professional equipment. Always check the rules before taking pictures. cobblestone streets can be tough on your feet. Wear comfortable walking shoes to make your exploration more enjoyable. 3. ZTL Zones: Florence has Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL) in the city center. These areas are marked with signs and monitored by cameras. Driving without a permit can result in fines. Park outside the ZTL in designated lots and use public transport or walk. Some hotels may offer permits for guests, so check with your accommodation.

Florence Useful Guide

Italian is the primary language. English is commonly spoken in tourist areas, hotels, restaurants, shops, and transportation hubs due to Florence's global popularity. Visitors can easily navigate the city using only English, as most signs and menus are bilingual. While it may be less common to find English speakers among older locals or in non-touristy locations, translation apps can help bridge any communication gaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
The night before disembarkation, affix luggage tags to all checked bags as instructed by the cruise operator and leave them at the marked zone outside your cabin. Do not pack items required for the next day such as daily wear, official documents and valuables into checked luggage. Retain your passport, room key and hand luggage with yourself. On disembark day, exit your cabin by the stated timing and proceed ashore in allocated groups per announcements. Avoid remaining inside the cabin. Inspect every drawer, closet and cabin safe thoroughly. Exact timings and baggage rules follow the cruise line’s Disembarkation Guide.

The Ultimate Lazy Cruise Guide: 3 Countries, 1 Ship, Zero Stress!

The Ultimate Lazy Cruise Guide: 3 Countries, 1 Ship, Zero Stress!

✈️ I’m not a fan of long flights or living out of a suitcase — so I tried something new: Boarded in Singapore, stayed in one room, and woke up in a different country every day. 🌏🛳️ Ovation of the Seas is back in Asia from April 2025, and honestly? It’s the easiest trip I’ve taken. What’s onboard? · 🛰️ North Star capsule for full 360° ocean views · 🎭 Two70° theater with wraparound shows · 🌀 Skydiving simulator & surf pool (didn’t try, fun to watch though) · 🍣 18+ restaurants — I kept rotating between steakhouse, buffet & dumpling bar · 🌅 My fav part: sunset drinks + quiet walks on deck You can stay active 24/7 or do absolutely nothing. I did a mix of both. Routes I considered (all round-trip from Singapore): 1️⃣ 4D3N – Singapore → Penang → Singapore 2️⃣ 5D4N – Penang + Phuket 3️⃣ 9D8N – Surabaya, Bali, Lombok 4️⃣ 15D14N – ends in Japan (Yokohama) — the slow travel dream ✅ No flights ✅ No hotel check-ins ✅ Just unpack once and enjoy the sea I saw couples, big families, solo travelers — it really works for anyone. And the ship’s big enough that you can always find your own quiet spot. 📍Best part? The journey feels like part of the destination. Not rushing, just floating. #RoyalCaribbean #IslandHopping #SlowTravel

Worthy of being called the "cruise ceiling"! 6 days and 5 nights of luxurious relaxation experience

I've never been on the MSC Meraviglia! This 6-day, 5-night luxury cruise was absolutely amazing! 🌊My time on the MSC cruise ship completely cured my anxiety! The swaying waves were the perfect white noise!💤 The gentle sea breeze and ever-changing sunsets on deck!🌅 Eat, lie down, get tipsy, unwind, feel free... This is probably the vacation every working person dreams of!👑 👩‍💻As a travel blogger who's always on the road, I've personally proven that cruise travel is my #1 favorite of the year!✨ No rushing to see attractions! No moving hotels! No itinerary! An entire happy planet is floating on the sea 🏰 Even the scenery is literally arriving at your doorstep 🔖Recommended 6-day, 5-night itinerary: Depart from Shanghai International Cruise Port → Sasebo → Busan → Return to Shanghai (A quick note: MSC's service truly spoils passengers) ✨"What You Need to Know About This Castle at Sea" ▫️Balcony Room: 180° Unparalleled Ocean View + Exclusive Champagne Time 🍾 ▫️Foodie Paradise: 4 complimentary restaurants + a 15th-floor ocean view buffet—a true foodie paradise! Sichuan barbecued crayfish...a delight for Chinese stomachs 😋 ▫️Old Money Aesthetics: A galactic staircase crafted from 60,000 crystals—the Italians truly understand romance! ▫️Warm Service: The crew was incredibly nice and thoughtfully provided us with the next day's itinerary every day❤️ 🎡"You'll Never Be Bored on Board" ✔️Shop Now: Duty-Free Shopping Street, a shopaholic's paradise ✔️Play to Your Heart: Waterpark + F1 Racing + Bowling + XD Cinema ✔️See a Show: Broadway-caliber musicals on a rotating schedule ✔️Drink to Your Heart's Content: 20+ unique bars, offering tipsy fun from sunset to late night ✔️Relax: 6 pools + a jacuzzi, perfect for sunbathing 💭The biggest takeaway from this trip: A true vacation isn't about rushing through itineraries, but about finding the most comfortable rhythm of life amidst the swaying waves, where even the flow of time becomes gentle. I still miss: The daily wake-up call of the sun and the never-ending sunsets over the Pacific Ocean✨

Things to do in Genting Dream Cruise at night

#singaporetrip #gentingdreamcruise During my first day in Genting Dream Cruise, I have been wondering what activities should I do during the night as we were on a ship.
