POS: very central location 50 mtr from ****** and beach; historical building with old charm; quite big but with a family atmosphere; (my) room recently renovated; pleasant bar area; quiet; considering location reasonably priced.
NEG: elavator super slow, tiny and shaky at times (7 floors); bathroom good but shower itself clumsy; staff could use some extra training > in 4 days' stay there was always something not done or missing, and worst of all in spite of plenty of mgmt messages to save energy, in 2/4 days we came back late night and aircon had been switched on (by staff, not us), on a day it was barely 20 degrees, meaning complete waste of energy, and cost.
This is a highly recommended hotel.
The location is quite good.
The locals’ favorite breakfast is right outside.
The sightseeing carriages pass by from time to time during the day.
It is very close to various check-in spots.
It is especially suitable for measuring the old town of Bruges with footsteps.
The hotel is very charming and worth it.
Service: Most dependent on who is in the bar. The young lady is a top!
When we want to book a night, the proposal does not take account of discounts, on the contrary, the upgrade we received when checking was fully accounted for any extension. Online books would have been 30€ cheaper than extending the bar! Problems with airco: it doesn't work. It is quickly very warm in the room. Although reported several times; not resolved. Further perfect location!
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with any requests. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.
The location is also a big plus—conveniently situated close to major attractions, restaurants, and public transport, making it easy to get around. I especially appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, which made it perfect for relaxing after a long day.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again in the future.
Breakfast is too bad, can't eat at all, almost can't see the food, this price breakfast is a bit unreasonable, the variety is pitiful, I am really sorry for this price
A very Cosy hotel right in the old city centre. Staff members are so nice to put chocolate bars in my allocated room as birthday gift as I check in on my bday.
Beware there are rooms with wooden logs that may not be acceptable by some tourists. Some rooms are on G/F or underground floors which you may need some psychological preparation.
In a word, a very good hotel with professional staff and excellent location to go everywhere
Degelijk hotelletje. Correcte ontvangst. Kamer leek niet op de foto op Trip, maar het is niet duidelijk of dat aan het hotel lag. Kamer was prima, badkamer was verouderd, maar verder wel in orde. Matras was aan de harde kant en misschien aan vervanging toe. Uitzicht was top.
Al bij al voor een lastminute in hoogseizen prijs/kwaliteit in orde.

A hotel with a sense of design, even the bathroom on the negative floor is quite gorgeous.
Breakfast is slightly simpler than those hotels in Germany and the Netherlands at the same price. But compared to Belgium, Italy is also above average.
Very close to the train station, there is a quite ** restaurant next to the castle, the dishes are great!
Very worth a try, stay here next time! !
Hotel to be recommended
Excellent experience, fantastic breakfast with a view, very attentive staff, very adequate (basic) room (the large ones must be great), very pleasant, almost luxurious environment, full of little touches, like chocolates on arrival, and a triple socket to plug all devices in one place. A place I will return to.

GGuest UserCons:
- The rooms are outside of the main building. Dorms are large but it gets really hot and there's no AC or even fans. It's quite suffocating, even with the windows open (and there's a bar just next to it, so it can be nosy in the evening). Thankfully Belgium nights aren't too hot.
- Showers and toilets are in the same room, and shared for men and women, which can feel like a lack of privacy.
- No hairdryer or any amenities in the shower room.
Pros:
- Good location, 15min walk to the center.
- Beautiful restaurant inside the main building.
- Free earplugs
PPhotoguyThe location is average, the room itself is very nice, but one exception…the chairs in the room. They are not comfortable to sit on for longer than 30 minutes.
I don’t understand why a hotel like this would pick such cheap and uncomfortable chairs.
GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with any requests. NNeilJHotel Portinari in Bruges is a gem! The modern design is both stylish and inviting, creating a lovely atmosphere. My room was comfortable and well-appointed, making it a perfect retreat. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the city’s main attractions. The friendly staff added to the overall positive experience. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Bruges!
GGuest UserThe location is excellent and it is very convenient to go to various attractions. If you drive yourself, it is a bit difficult to get in and out of the hotel. The car is clearly parked next door, but it took half an hour to get to the hotel entrance (one-way street + road closure)
GGuest UserMy partner and I had one of the mansion suites on the 3rd floor. Although our room didn’t have a view it was spacious and comfortable. The toiletries smelt divine.
The bed and pillows were super comfy.
Staff are friendly.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety of fruit and fresh juices / smoothies. Customised omelettes were made.
The hotel itself is boutique, contemporary and in a good location to Brugge Train Station, buses and also all the main attractions. It is nestled down a quiet street but still close enough to main attractions.
You have waffles and fresh potato fries shops within a minute walk from the hotel, including a supermarket if you need anything.
AAnne LiekeWe had a nice time at Talbot House. The big plus is the historic value of the place, as we visited the area to learn more about WWI. So amazing to be able to explore the house and talk to the volunteer working here. Other things we liked were the friendly service and breakfast. Also big plus we could bring our dog, staying in the garden house.
With the cold whilst we were there, not having central heating was a bit of a struggle as the aircon is only on during the afternoon/evening and harder to set to a consistent temperature. Also the shared bathroom’s window couldn’t be closed, so absolutely freezing to go to. Last, our room was on the small side and felt a bit cramped especially with our dog. But overall good value for money.
AAnonymous UserThe location is very good, with many stores and restaurants around. Very close to the old town. Walking distance to many bars. The facilities are relatively old. The flushing in my toilet does not work properly. The room are designed to be able to connected to the neighbouring room, but the wooden door does not stop noise.
