Finally got to check out the Shilla Monogram with my sister, a hotel that opened last July and I'd been wanting to visit! The bedding and bed were absolutely the best part. Since it's new, it felt even cleaner and more luxurious. It really seems perfect for a 'hocance' (hotel vacation) when you're traveling. I wished we could have stayed longer, but due to my sister's schedule, we had to leave with some regret, promising to return. It's definitely a place I want to visit again, Shilla~~
Nice clean hotel across from a nice beach for surfing. I was initially disappointed to find the hotel was across a very busy road from the beach, but the hotel itself is quiet and the rooftop in the morning was a great way to take in the sunset. I might not book here again because of the busy road but the hotel is nice.
We had a pleasant stay at the Skybay Hotel. The ocean view from our corner room was spectacular and well worth it.
My girlfriend accidentally left her iPad in the room after we checked out, and the hotel staff were very professional and responsible in helping us coordinate the international shipping back to Malaysia. We appreciate their honesty and efficient assistance. Highly recommended for the service and the location.
While clean, the room was much smaller than I anticipated. Check-in took an incredibly long time; I waited for three hours! They claimed to be following check-in numbers sent via KakaoTalk, but this wasn't actually the case. Someone making a lot of complaints was prioritized, and the whole situation was just chaotic.
The room was surprisingly small and looked nothing like the photos. I was assigned to Building A, but the pictures on Trip.com were completely different from the room I received (I suspect they were of Buildings B and C). I initially wondered if the hotel had given me the wrong room, but upon re-examining the photos, the very last one did seem to be of Building A. Honestly, I feel deceived, having chosen the room based solely on those initial, misleading pictures.
The swimming pool also incurs an additional charge of 80,000 KRW per person (I didn't use the pool). There's a bakery area, and its lobby is so close to the pool that everything is visible from there. While waiting for check-in, I had coffee in the lobby, and it felt rather awkward seeing people in their swimsuits so close by.
Breakfast is divided into two time slots, so you must arrive at your allocated time. The coffee service, where staff pour it for you, was also quite inconvenient. Normally, one would get coffee from a self-service machine, but here there's a dedicated 'coffee zone' where you have to place an order with staff. When there's a queue, you end up waiting with your food in hand, which is truly inconvenient. And the coffee wasn't even exceptionally delicious. Despite having three staff members at the coffee zone, the whole process felt incredibly inefficient. The breakfast food itself, however, was tasty.
Oh, and a quick note: Netflix isn't available in the rooms, haha.
I honestly think the Lotte Resort, where I previously stayed, is far superior. Their rooms are much more spacious, the pool is complimentary, and it definitely has a more luxurious vibe. Breakfast at Lotte is also tastier, in my personal opinion (and you *can* watch Netflix there!).
To sum up, Cassia offers breathtaking scenery. The breakfast was varied and delicious! However, I feel they haven't made effective use of the hotel's interior space. It's genuinely vast, and as you wander, you encounter tables, uncomfortable chairs, and very large art books on display, but it all feels a bit forced and out of place. I never felt like sitting down and relaxing on the chairs, which were also uncomfortable. The overall interior design felt somewhat unkempt and disjointed. It's a shame such a large space wasn't utilized more thoughtfully.
Next time, I'll probably opt for Lotte Resort over Cassia.
Super value for money. No complaints.
Parking is valet with no extra to pay. DIY laundry keeps all clothes dry and cleaned for multiple days of exploration in beautiful Gangneung! Staff recommended good eating places for grilled pork and beef. Don’t miss the gimbaps!
This is a superb hotel. Location is excellent, 10 mins walk to the Express bus terminal, 5 mins to bus stop and emart, 15 mins walk to beach. Easy base to hike Serokysan. Room is new and clean, spacious, modern and high pressure shower. Good machine coffee at lobby. Highly recommended!
Excellent location (I mean EXCELLENT) as it's 5 min away from the entrance of the park. It is easy to get to by bus no 7/7-1 and by taxi. The hotel looks a bit old from the outside but it is tastefully decorated on the inside and they keep very well in line with the English theme.
The rooms are clean and spacious, with very nice views. They have a nice space to put things away and a small fridge. Our shower unfortunately wasn't sealed from the shower door so we ended up with water in the whole bathroom (difficult to control with a 6'4 partner).
It has in house laundry and a small grocery shop that saved us one day it was raining too much to head back to the restaurant area.
Really recommend if you're visiting the park (or Sokcho as it's also 15-20 min away by bus). Very friendly staff.
Three couples and I stayed for two nights as a group for a couples' getaway. We arrived late, so we used the kiosk to access the self-service room. We got the password and checked in...
It was exactly as pictured, and it was a great place to relax and unwind.
Since it was our first time staying, we had a lot of fun~^^
The condition of the convention tower room was good.
The snowy scenery was also very nice.
There were many places to go and things to do for a vacation, so it was good.
The water park, swimming pool, sauna, Unamjeong, *** (Kangwon Land), gondola, skiing, sledding, etc. were spread out, so it wasn't too crowded even though it was a holiday, which was even better. ㅎㅎ
I'm even more satisfied because there's something for everyone, from children to adults.
It's a bit far to get there, but it's definitely a vacation, so I'd like to visit again^^

FFederica PetrilliThe hotel is super cleany, probably even quite new. The rooms was a bit small but it had everything we needed - nice bed (love the mattress!), and good size for the bathroom. The check-in was supposed to be at 4PM, but we arrived around 3Pm and they happily gave us the room in less than 5 minutes without any problems. Great service! Will definitely be back.

可可可酱KoKoForgot to take pictures of the room, it's very retro! But there are too many mosquitoes, terrible 😱 and the parking lot is super hard to stop...I can’t stop without a bit of technology haha, by the way, it’s super close to the beach
GGuest UserIt was a leisurely hotel where you can have a glass of wine while looking at the sea.
It's good to wake up early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise and hot springs,
and there's a seawater pool so you can enjoy swimming even in winter🩵
There's a hotel wellness program, so make sure to make a reservation in advance and enjoy it.
GGuest UserThe room condition, various programs, and facilities such as the spa were really good. In particular, I enjoyed swimming and using the sauna while looking at the beautiful scenery, and I participated in the yoga program twice among the wellness programs, and the quality of the classes was very good. The only regrets were that it was a long distance of more than 2 hours by car from the metropolitan area, the somewhat chaotic atmosphere when the wellness program yoga/meditation was in progress, and the outdoor jacuzzi facilities and water quality management were lacking. If you visit next time, it would be good to stay for more than 2 nights on a weekday during the off-season in the warm season.
