The Divari Church was built on the top of a hill near Mtskheta, overlooking the panoramic view of the ancient city of Mtskheta. Divari Church is the oldest church in the ancient city of Mtskheta, built between 585 and 604 AD. The worship of the cross is a sign of piety among Georgians, which is also reflected in the name of the church ("Divari" is exactly what the cross means). Here, like many other churches in Georgia, houses the portrait of St. Nino, the first Christian missionary of Georgia, and is a splendid gem of the ancient city of Mtskheta.
