Outstanding

The Liao and Jin dynasty temples within Datong Ancient City are a must-see. The ancient halls are magnificent, with red walls and black tiles exuding ancient charm. The Bojia Temple Hall is a national treasure, featuring lifelike depictions of bodhisattvas with clasped hands and showing their teeth, and exquisitely crafted celestial pavilions. The murals in the Mahavira Hall are grand and beautiful, and the Huayan Pagoda can be climbed for panoramic views of Datong Ancient City. The courtyards are serene, shaded by ancient trees, showcasing the ingenuity of ancient architecture. The halls are rich in cultural relics, making them ideal for study by ancient architecture enthusiasts. Conveniently located, they can be visited along the way when exploring the ancient city. It is recommended to allow two hours for a leisurely visit to fully appreciate the unique charm of Liao dynasty art.
