The mansion was successively the residence of Heshen and Yonglin. In 1851, Prince Gong Yixin became the owner of the mansion, hence the name Prince Kung's Palace Museum, which was one of the largest princely mansions of the Qing dynasty. The front part of Prince Kung's Palace Museum is a magnificent mansion, while the rear part is a serene and elegant classical garden, covering a total area of nearly 60,000 m². The mansion's architecture is solemn and dignified, emphasizing simplicity over extravagance, with open corridors and grand ridges, exuding an imposing aura second only to the imperial palaces. The rear Cuijin Garden features winding streams, encircling hills, ancient towering trees, and elegant pavilions, blending natural beauty with opulence.
