Wow, the Longmen grotto especially is both everything and nothing like I expected! I appreciated the tour guide at both the Shaolin temple and the grotto telling stories and giving explanations for the things we were looking at. Both places were extremely, extremely busy, but I managed to see everything I wanted to!

Our guide, James, and driver arrived on time. The trip went smoothly. There was no rush: we could move at our own pace and linger longer at interesting sights. First the Longmen Grottoes, then Shaolin, including a kung fu show (the visiting order can be changed according to real-time conditions on the day and the show may not be held on some days). James had with him a thick folder with visual historical information, maps, illustrations and, what is important, an umbrella for us, which was invaluable in the heat of +33 C. He also recommended a good cafe near Shaolin. As for the king fu show, thanks to James, he entered the hall first and saved us two seats in the front row :) His English was clear, and James tried to speak more simply when touching on complex topics and asked us if it was understandable for us (it was). I also had the opportunity to discuss various topics related to China that interested me. James is very friendly and pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend him.
