The Chongsheng Temple And The Three-Pagoda Culture Tourist Area is located 1.5 km north of Dali Ancient Town, serving as the royal temple during the Dali Kingdom period. With Erhai Lake to the east and Cangshan Mountain's Yinglue Peak to the west, the scenery here is exceptionally beautiful. The three pagodas were originally part of Chongsheng Temple. While the temple seen today is a reconstruction, the pagodas remain as millennia-old relics and a major highlight for visitors. The tour route begins at the attraction's main gate, where the three pagodas immediately come into view atop the central axis staircase. The large central pagoda, called Qianxun Pagoda, stands majestically with two smaller pagodas to its north and south, forming a grand tripartite layout. The three pagodas resemble the Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an. The perfect spot to photograph them is the "Three Pagodas Reflection Pool" in the Three Pagodas Reflection Park located diagonally behind them, where travelers can capture the pagodas and their reflections in the water. Many travelers take photos here as souvenirs. The Gantong Ropeway is one of the three cable cars on Cangshan mountain in Dali, located at the foot of Shengying peak and adjacent to Gantong temple and Jizhao nunnery. With a total length of over 2,000 m, the cable car starts from the station near Gantong temple and ascends to the mid-mountain station near Qingbi stream. It operates with enclosed transparent cabins, each accommodating six passengers, offering a smooth ride and expansive views. During the journey, you can admire the pine-covered valleys on Cangshan's slopes and, on clear days, overlook Erhai lake and the outline of Dali ancient town. The upper station exit marks the southern starting point of the Yudai cloud trail. Walking north along this gentle mid-mountain plank path, you'll reach Cangshan grand canyon and Qingbi stream, where the water forms tiered emerald-green pools in the canyon. Further north leads to Qilongnv pool. Xizhou is located 18 km north of Dali Ancient Town, with Cangshan Mountain to the west and Erhai Lake to the east. It preserves a large number of Bai ethnic residences and is also the birthplace of Xizhou baba. Wandering through the ancient town, you will see seniors in Bai ethnic clothing, small shops selling baba, and Bai ethnic residences, all brimming with rich Bai ethnic charm. Xizhou at a glance The Gate of Justice is the west gate of Xizhou Ancient Town, and entering from here leads to the old street of the ancient town. A few hundred m inward from the west gate, there is a 500-year-old banyan tree so thick that it takes several adults to encircle it, and it is considered a landmark of Xizhou Ancient Town. Not far into the ancient town, there is a Ziyun Mountain Temple. The existing buildings were constructed in the Qing Dynasty and look quite dilapidated. Some local elderly people often gather here to bask in the sun. Further in is Sifang Street, a small square surrounded by numerous shops and the center of the entire town. Sightseeing in Xizhou usually starts from Sifang Street. Sifang Street is the birthplace of the famous snack Xizhou baba, and the flavor here is very authentic. Visit bai ethnic residences Bai ethnic residences are a major feature of Xizhou. The residences here span various periods, and the ones people most often visit are the Yan and Yang family residences. The Yan family residence is located at the southwest corner of Sifang Street, and the architecture is a typical Bai courtyard layout of "three fangs and one screen wall" and "four courtyards with five skylights." The Yan family was the foremost of Xizhou's "four great families" in the old days, and here you can experience the grandeur of the Yan family's former wealth. Inside the residence, you can also drink the distinctive "three-course tea." If you are interested in architecture and ethnic culture and want to quickly learn about Bai ethnic residences, you can buy a ticket and go in. Yang Pinxiang's residence is located east of Xizhou, and its layout is much the same as the Yan family residence. Particularly worth mentioning is the Yang family's exquisitely crafted wood carvings, and the gatehouse is especially ornate and elegant. Tour Hai Shi Peninsula Additionally, it is worth mentioning the Haishé Peninsula east of Xizhou Ancient Town. Head east toward Erhai Lake for 3-4 km to reach Haixin Pavilion, then continue a few hundred meters further to Jingui Temple, and you will see a green oasis about 100 m wide and roughly 1 km long, resembling a jade hairpin inserted into the shimmering Erhai Lake. Locals call it Haishé. There are very few visitors here, and the scenery is exceptionally beautiful—blue skies, white clouds, green trees, and clear ripples, along with waterbirds appearing among them, giving a feeling of blending into nature, and the photos you take look as beautiful as paintings. Recommended things to do Xizhou is not far from Dali Ancient Town. If you are staying in Dali Ancient Town, you can get there by bus or bicycle, and a day trip of walking and exploring is enough to go there and back. You can also choose to stay one night in Xizhou and continue to visit Butterfly Spring the next day.

The entire structure is built on reefs, combining local bluestone with steel frames, and the building extends toward Erhai Lake, appearing to float above the water from a distance. Inside, multiple split levels undulate, with most rooms facing Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. A century-old banyan tree grows through the central hall, symbolizing the coexistence of tree and architecture, creating a highly recognizable scene here. Today, this private residence has been opened to the public as an art space. Inside, it displays paintings by artist Ye Yongqing and preserves props from Yang Liping's dance drama "Pingtan Impression," as well as scenes from her former daily life.
