Overall experience is good, very close to snow park. Only downside is I think that the service is very different from other hotel I went in Japan. We will need to carry our own luggage and they did not help to arrange the luggage to the room after the room is ready.
The hotel is situated on a mountaintop, a bit far from the ski resort/town, but waking up to a snow-covered view and enjoying the night view and starry sky at night offers a different kind of enjoyment. It also features both indoor and outdoor hot springs, which is very convenient.
Our family of three originally booked a twin room, but were later informed that extra beds were not available. Ms. Yumi from the hotel assisted in arranging a spacious Japanese-style room with a private toilet and bathroom. The hotel staff were very polite, friendly, and helpful in resolving any issues – very thoughtful!
We are very grateful for our stay at Nozawa Onsen Grand Hotel. The two nights of kaiseki dinners were excellent, a pleasant surprise, and delicious. However, the buffet breakfast ended at 8:45 am and had a limited selection.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean and tidy, providing a comfortable environment. The shower was excellent, which was particularly important during the winter season. The staff at the check-in counter were extremely helpful and friendly. Although I didn't participate in skiing, I was impressed by the resort's wide range of activities that allowed guests to explore the area. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to others.
Facilities: The resort offers a very comprehensive range of facilities, including an onsen (hot spring). They also provide self-service laundry and equipment for snow activities.
Cleanliness: The overall cleanliness was excellent.
Environment: Although we didn't visit during the peak snow season, there was already a good amount of snow accumulated upon arrival. It's a great place to enjoy, even if you don't ski.
Service: Service, as is common in many Japanese hotels, tends to prioritize guest privacy, so staff aren't overtly enthusiastic or proactive. However, whenever we needed assistance, they were always patient and helpful in their responses.
We stayed for two nights on a family trip. The hotel is a luxurious establishment with three hotels, a chapel, and a wedding reception hall on a vast site of 230,000 square meters, and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing time. The breakfast buffet and French dinner were delicious, and the service was excellent. There was also a large hot spring bath, and there was plenty of greenery, so it was a pleasant walk. I recommend staying two or even three nights instead of just one.
The hotel rooms are spacious and have private hot springs. The decoration is high-end and meticulous, and the service is attentive and enthusiastic. I tasted the hotel's French and Italian dinner sets, which were very delicious and meticulous, at least Michelin one-star level. The only drawback of the hotel is that it is far from Karuizawa, but the hotel has a free shuttle bus to Miyota Train Station, and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Karuizawa by train. This hotel is a representative of low-key luxury, and its level is not inferior to Hoshinoya, and it is very cost-effective
The hot spring is great, and the water quality is very comfortable. 👍👍
The breakfast is delicious, and dinner is good too, but the menu never changes; it's the same every day. If you're staying for a longer ski trip, everything tastes bad after two days. 😓
The location is very convenient if you have your own car. If not, taking a taxi is also easy, though sometimes you have to wait a bit longer.
None of the staff speak English. Every time, they just give you a look that says, 'I don't understand, sorry, I can't help you,' which is very frustrating. 🥲🥲
**Hygiene:** I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Upon check-in, they said the room would be cleaned once after three days. However, three days passed, and even after reminding them, no one came to clean. No one cleaned the room until we left. I had to clean it myself every day like a housekeeper. 🥹
**Room:** The space is quite large. The overall feel is like a 70s-80s hotel. If you like a nostalgic vibe, it's pretty good.
The overall price is reasonable, it's a good place, and I'd come back here to ski next time. 👍👍 But I'll definitely bring an AI translator next time, otherwise, communication will be impossible. 😅😅
The accommodation is clean and there is plenty of parking. However, it is suitable for those who drive on foot. There are no pajamas provided. The bath products, hair care products, and nourishing creams are so good that you might want to buy some to take home. There is a coin-operated washing machine with a wide selection of detergents. The digital door is difficult to open, so you have to wait for the right moment. Overall, it is worth it and a good choice for those who love peace and quiet.
There is a bus transfer from the JR Keke Station to the hotel, and the traffic is quite convenient. The mountain is relatively quiet, the hotel staff is English, the service is in place and warm. There are lakes, woods, mountains, hot springs and snow fields in the resort, where you can enjoy a few days of peace of mind. On the second day of our stay, we went to the far ski resort. The hotel staff helped to book a taxi. We also asked if we need a taxi to return. After confirmation, I also helped the driver to confirm the return time, which greatly helped us communicate with the driver. (There are more local tourists in Japan here, and the English level of restaurants and drivers is limited)

GGuest UserI would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent service provided by one of your hotel staff members, Ito-san. During my stay in Hirugami No-Mori, Ito-San went above and beyond to ensure that our experience at your onsen/hotel was a memorable one.
Despite the language barrier, Ito-san's attentive nature and willingness to go above and beyond to assist me in navigating the area made a significant difference in my stay. Her use of Google Translate to communicate with us was impressive and demonstrated her dedication to providing top-notch service.
I was thoroughly impressed with her professionalism, positive attitude, and exceptional customer service skills, which were evident in every interaction I had with her. Her talent is remarkable, and I hope that your hotel will continue to support and develop her professionally.
Please convey my heartfelt appreciation to Ito-san, and please recognize her outstanding work. She is a true asset to your onsen/hotel, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Thank you for providing me with a memorable experience, and I wish you and your team continued success.
GGuest UserEverything about our stay was perfect. The place was very clean and well maintained, and the location was ideal for visiting the Snow Monkey Park. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the onsen was relaxing and beautifully kept. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I would love to come back again.

GGuest UserI stayed on the lake side of the 7th floor of the annex building, a renovated Japanese-Western style room. It was a tatami mats and twin beds, and a round low table and cushion by the window. It is a renovation that feels old here and there, and it is better not to see the bath in the room even if you do not use it. I don't use it, but it is a Showa bathroom. There are many families with small children, so it may be good if you are a family with babies that are difficult to travel. We were two middle-aged couples, so everything didn't go well. Next time, I will make a quiet room where I can eat quietly and make a bath hotel that doesn't run around. We stayed without checking well, so it can't be helped. The hotel itself is actively engaged in employment of foreigners, employment of disabled people, employment of locals, and I think we are very researching the menu of Viking dishes. Is it a hotel around Lake Shirakaba alone?
