AAnonymous UserI was initially in a dilemma about whether to stay here or not, but looking back, it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip! After carefully planning the journey, getting there was actually quite straightforward. For those coming from Hohhot, here's the route I took: 1. Take a train from Hohhot to Dalate West Station. 2. Take a Didi from Dalate West Station to Huailian Tourism Resort Reception Center (about 40 minutes, around CNY50). 3. Purchase rm176 of the Whistling Dune Bay package ticket, which includes admission, cable car, Yuesha Island access, and a camel ride. 4. Resort guests have access to a special lane for the cable car, which takes about 8 minutes. 5. Upon arrival, take the resort jeep transfer to the accommodation area. 6. Enjoy activities such as sand sliding, swimming in the pool, stargazing, and simply experiencing the peaceful desert atmosphere at night. 7. After checkout, take the jeep transfer to the mini desert train, followed by the duck car ride, before returning via cable car. 8. It can be difficult to get a Didi from the resort reception area, but the staff kindly helped arrange a taxi back to Dalate West Station for around CNY50. 9. Continue the journey from Dalate West Station to Ordos. What impressed me most was the hospitality. From the WeChat communication before arrival to the reception team and resort staff, everyone was incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The night experience was truly spectacular. The desert becomes so peaceful after sunset — all you can hear is the sound of the sand, while above you is a sky filled with countless stars and a beautiful moon. It was one of the most memorable moments of my trip. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique desert stay and unforgettable experience!

JJustin宁波Here's the updated review with that additional context: Full Version We had a wonderful stay, largely thanks to one of the owners who went out of their way to organize activities for us and made our experience truly memorable. The dinner and show were fantastic—featuring original-style Mongolian traditional dance and singing that felt authentic and captivating. Both lunch and dinner were excellent, and we were especially impressed by the Lamb Bao served at breakfast. Overall, the service and warmth from the people were genuinely good. That said, all the costs were quite expensive compared to what I'm used to after living and traveling in China for more than 10 years. I would recommend the horse riding off the main area, as they suggest, but the Happy Ranch was not that fulfilling—most of the rides and activities there weren't worth the time or money. That's an external activity though, so no discredit to the hotel itself. While we didn't end up using the actual amenities, the hospitality and cultural performance alone made the visit worthwhile. Balanced Short Version (Google/TripAdvisor): Great experience thanks to one of the owners, who personally organized activities for us. The dinner and show were a highlight—original Mongolian traditional dance and singing that was unique and impressive. Food was excellent at all meals, especially the Lamb Bao at breakfast, and the staff were genuinely warm. Costs were quite high compared to what I'm used to after 10+ years in China. I recommend the horse riding off the main area as suggested, but the Happy Ranch activities weren't worth the time or money—though that's external, not the hotel's fault. Didn't use the actual hotel amenities, but the hospitality and performance were good.

GGuest UserWe took our family to Xilamuren Grassland and stayed at Saibei Post Station. Stepping outside, we were greeted by vast grasslands, perfect for horseback riding and watching the sunset, all within easy reach. The yurt was meticulously cleaned; all weeds and dust were cleared from the ground, and the bedding was fresh and tidy. The en-suite bathroom was free of any odors or standing water. The owner was incredibly welcoming, even taking us to milk mares, which was a fantastic experience! The establishment also serves authentic hand-grabbed mutton. The owner guides guests to visit local herdsmen's pastures, offering a truly authentic grassland living experience. It felt very comfortable and reassuring to stay there.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the grassland. After comparing several hotels, we finally decided to stay at Lezhiye. The two families lived together in a 140-square-meter suite. There were many free snacks and drinks in the room, as well as sweet soup after dinner. I ordered five or six dishes for dinner, including meat and vegetables. Four adults and three children ate for nearly 700 yuan. The grilled lamb chops were very delicious! Very tender, fresh and delicious! Later, I ate at another mutton chop shop in the city and it was inedible! You can also play around the B&B. The grassland is surrounded by wires, so you can wander around and play around.

GGuest UserThe B&B's environment perfectly matches the photos online. If the weather is good, it's a fantastic spot for pictures – we even caught a breathtaking sunset during our visit! The lobby is stylishly decorated with a strong Mongolian cultural flair. They have a restaurant on-site, so all your dining needs are covered. With coffee, drinks, and hot springs, the facilities are truly comprehensive. The staff, both male and female, are very friendly and provide great service. It's truly one of the best B&Bs in the area.

AAnonymous UserThe room was quite good and clean for the price. It's also really convenient being so close to the Affiliated Hospital of Medical University. The best part was the spaciousness of the room. They provided free disposable toilet seat covers, and the shampoo and shower gel were individually packaged. Definitely recommend it.

GGuest UserAfter the experience, it is considered to be a relatively good yurt in the local area. The owner and the waiter are very enthusiastic. You can listen to the birds singing in the early morning. The environment is good. There is a bonfire party at night, and you can also bring your own fireworks🎆 Facilities: Complete Sanitation: Good Service: Enthusiastic Environment: Relatively quiet

GGuest UserIf you’re staying in Hohhot and want a genuine, memorable experience, this is the place!!! I can’t recommend this homestay enough. From the moment we stepped into the compound, the warmth of the family was immediately felt. You’ll be welcomed by a lovely lady, her husband, and his brother, who treat you less like a guest and more like family. Within minutes of arriving, they greeted us with snacks, a gift, and let us know they were already preparing a local dinner. We sat down with them that evening, sharing a spread of local dishes and drinks, it was a genuinely special night. I don’t speak a word of Chinese, and yet through Translate we had a wonderful time together. Before heading to bed, they asked what time we needed to leave in the morning so breakfast would be ready for us which was very nice! Morning came with their dogs greeting us and a delicious homemade local breakfast waiting at the table. As for the yurt itself, it’s beautiful and incredibly cozy inside, exactly what you’d hope for. There’s heating in there in case you get cold as well. We stayed two nights, and on our second evening we had to turn in early for an early flight. The other guest, though, stayed up late singing and dancing with the family, which honestly made me wish we could have stayed longer. I’d give this place a 20/10 if I could. I booked it thinking it was just somewhere interesting to sleep for the night. What I didn’t know was that it would end up being a highlight of my trip to China.

PPaucassoI am a young Englishman on a 20 day solo self-drive road trip across northern Heilongjian and Inner Mongolia. After my stay in Hulun Buir, I decided to drive down to Arxan for 2 nights exploring. I booked this stay based off of the other foreign guests' positive experience. I arrived in the town late in the evening. The boss was waiting for me and was attentive and welcoming from the start. The room is very spacious and comfortable, and the temperature was just right. Everything is provided and replaced when needed. After hiking in the national park, I came back to the boss and his extended family making CNY preparations. Then I was invited to drink Chinese tea (Dian Hong) at their tea table. I was then welcomed to eat with the family, drink beer and eat until I was full. I was welcomed not just as a guest of theirs, but as a family friend. In mid-winter, Aershan/Arxan is a quiet and cold place. I came as part of a long journey taking my rented 4x4 Tank 300 through the snow and ice on routes apart of the Hulun Buir Snow and Ice Festival. My journey was peaceful, solemn and isolated. The hospitality and warm welcome was exactly what I needed after my long drive alone and it is a memory I will take home to the UK with me. I highly recommend this guesthouse, especially if you are travelling solo across this wilderness. Thank you brother. I look forward to returning in the near future with my partner, and when my mandarin is better.
