CHIJMES
From the outside, this place seems like a quiet church. Beautiful place. There are so many restaurants situated within church premises and all of them are beautiful. The ambiance is lively with many restaurants playing live music and concerts. You can chill and enjoy time with family/friends. Great place to hang around and listen to some good music or watch the match on big screens.

Ambiance / highlights - historical site, church, dining area
Rating - 4/5
Occasionally I will meet up with my girl friends for a meal at the restaurants in chijmes. My favorite places would be the Harry's . They serve a big portion of western meals. I simply love their food especially their meat patties and crispy fries. After our dinner we discuss our own private life and share our problems with one another as girls talk is meant to be. We helped each other like our own sisters. The place looks great when you visit in the evening. There is valet parking available if you require their assistance.

Had the best deep fried squid here. It was crispy, full of favour and chewy. So addictive that my husband and I fought for the last piece.
The ramen broth they have are on the lighter side, which suits our taste bubs. The complimentary glutinous rice taste good too.
And to add on, their outlet in Tokyo actually has 1 michelin!

Gyu-kaku CHIJMES

Highlights - BBQ meat

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! We ordered the gyu-kaku premium set for 2, which comes with wagyu cross karubi, australian wagyu thick tongue, gyu-kaku karubi, kurobata belly, beef of the day with shio garlic, cabbage, seaweed soup, kimchi, rice.
The beef melted in our mouth. It was soooo good. Paired that with japanese rice or cabbage. Would have gone for their buffet if not for my hubby being on a diet and not wanting to tempt himself with all the meat.
Charcoal fire was used for the BBQ. Service was fast and staff are friendly.
Would definitely return again! Hopefully for the buffet!

Beautiful heritage site in City Hall
Located near to city hall station, Chijmes is a historical building complex that is converted into one of the top destinations for food and drinks as it's houses more than 20 cafes and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines from Western to all the way to Japanese. It houses two national monuments, CHIJMES Hall and Caldwell House. It's a good place to chill both in the day and night.
It is also a good place for photoshoots and weddings due to the strong historical presence as the complex used to be a Catholic convent since 1841.
Fun fact: The wedding scene in Crazy Rich Asians took place here!

It is a nice place to chill and relax with the companion of good food.
The menu caters to a relatively extensive range, and everyone should be able to find something that they like.
Food wise, the dishes are flavourful and good. The portion was just right for us to order quite a few to share.
The staff were attentive, and the ambience was good. Price wise, average spending of 75 if you want a decent meal.

An afternoon at CHIJMES
This area surrounding one of Singapore’s famous churches has now been developed into a bustling restaurant and bar establishment. You can find a number of fine dining restaurants here, as well as slightly more affordable cafes too.
It is a very instagrammable place as the architecture is reminiscent of colonial times, super gorgeous. Quite a family-friendly space also!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chill night perfect for a relaxing evening
Address: Simply Jazz by Tin Box, 30 Victoria St, #B1-03/04 Chijmes, Singapore 187996
There is a open mic session here at the Tin Box, and we headed over to support one of our friend. This place served food and drinks which you can sip on while you enjoy some live Jazz music performed by talented musicians.
I was blown away by all the performers. Never judge a book by it's cover because as soon as they open their mouth, it'll send goosebumps all over your body! Their voices were angelic - an experience I believe everyone should try at least once.
The place was nicely decorated and the staffs were all attentive and friendly, which elevated the whole experience. Do note that the prices here is a little on the steeper end as ultimately you're here for the experience.

A colonial icon in Singapore, CHIJMES
#singapore
Established in 1841, the CHIJMES (Convent of Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School) was a Catholic Convent, then converted Hotel Complex of the Girls School, which finally transformed to Victoria Girls School. After her desactification and the schools were moved to Toa Payoh, the government acquired the land and restored the entire building. This place was reopened in 1996 after 5 and a half years of restoration works and is converted to a plaza of themed retail, bars and food and beverage outlets, which is when the name CHIJMES is given. Today, this iconic building is a hub for many people to hang out in the cities. The hall is also open for reservation for various wedding functions as well.
💕 Love for Matcha
#valentinescape
It was too full after dinner but could not resist the matcha green tea desserts.
We ordered 2 scoops of gelato with waffles. The first flavour was Matcha. It was really rich and creamy. The second flavour was Goma, which is black sesame. This was very fragrant and rice. The Dairy-free waffles were lightly sweet and buttery and really brought out the flavours of the gelato. Some calories are just meant to be consumed and never regretted!

Candlelight Concerts X Hans Zimmer
#meetsingapore
My fifth Candlelight Concert last Wednesday evening was held in the exquisitely restored early Gothic styled 19th century Chijmes Hall, a venue which I had always desired to enter for any artsy-fartsy event ⛪️
Whilst being led into the dark chapel boasting enviable high ceilings and detailed stained glass windows, we were awestruck by the beautiful illumination of several hundreds of candles lined along the sides & around the centre-stage 😍 even before our eyes grew accustomed to the steady flickering glow of the candlelight 🔥
For slightly over an hour, we were treated to a multi-sensory musical experience with classic pieces of Hans Zimmer, performed masterfully by the Vocalise String Quartet 🎶
Music is undeniably sound healing for the mind & soul.
CHIJMES - A must visit place in SG
A beautiful landmark walking distance from Raffles City. It's an old Catholic church beautifully restored and turned into FnB hub. I should have come here at night as the place looks more romantic with all the lights on.
Lots of restaurants and pubs in this historical church surrounded by eateries. Perfect place to hang out with friends. For those who love olden and dome architecture must visit this place, every corner is so instagrammable.

This is going to be my new favorite cafe to patronise, located at a walking distance from cityhall mrt – this new cafe dough is situated in chijmes.
I visited this place just before the lunch crowd arrive, so i would definitely recommend coming before or after the lunch crowd as it does get really busy.
We ordered the rostti, the chicken thigh and the uni pasta. With the sides of tatter tots & brussel sprouts. ALL THE FOOD is a 5/5 stars for me, their portion was generous and their flavours were impeccable.
Their coffee and drinks were super yummy too.
Night Festival Part 3!
Moving on to stamford street and city hall to catch the last few instillation in the area. A hidden “Mickey” and no so obvious projection at Stamford clock tower, the projections are designed by different students.
Next is the Paddy Fields, reminding people about drying cultivated rice in the early 19th century which is close to the modern area now. I like how it lights up the usually boring walk at the area. It’s always dark and quiet here without the festival.
And finally “An Ocean Without Anchor” which is an inflatable that mimic a light house, a guiding light for those at sea. And probably comfort to those at sea.
Lastly drop by Chijmes to check out the historical building getting projected too!

Beautiful Historic Building in Civic District
CHIJMES is a historic building complex in Singapore, which began life as a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus.
This is also the place featured in "Crazy Rich Asian" wedding scene. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes in CHIJMES and close to Raffles City, accessible via City Hall MRT/Bras Basah MRT.
Come here at night with lights on or weekend for a vibrant atmosphere. There is a massage shop called "Natureland" at the basement too. Service is good. Other cafes you can try is The Glasshouse, Dough (both served good quality coffee). Or try Hvala if you are a Matcha fan. Food-wise, I will recommend Prive or trying the famous Ramen at Hakata Ikkousha.

Great cafe hidden in CHIJMES
Address - 30 Victoria St, #01-03, CHIJMES
Ambiance/Facilities - The name of the cafe is Glasshouse which accurately described the ambiance here. I love the natural light coming through during the day. The indoor plants help to enhance the whole visiting experience too.
Highlights - I have tried various foos items like Sourdough avocado bread. My favourite is still a cup of coffee here. They rotate different beans and filter. Just choose whatever you feel to have for that day. Staff is very friendly too.
Avg. Price per Person - $5-$6 for a white, pastry costs around $6
Rating - 5/5
Tip (as a regular here)-coming in the morning around 8-10am as it is getting more crowded during the day.

Chijmes : school turned Chapel
#localhistory
Chijmes is a national monument of SIngaporeand made world wide famous when the movie CRAZY RICH ASIAN was filmed in the wedding hall.
You do not actually have to be crazy rich to hold your wedding here however it is not the cheapest venue, you pay to get a nice venue, and I guess it got even worthier after the movie.
Chijmes names means Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School. This is because in the pass it was a Catholic Covent for a girl school and orphanage.
Currently, the venue is now open for wedding ceremony and home to many restaurants and pubs. It is quite a famous location for tourist to come and chill. For the nature lovers you can try lazing on the grass lawn.
The good thing is there isn’t admission fee, so anyone can enter and absorb the atmosphere of the area, however, the chapel area is not open to public.
Chijmes, the Crazy Rich Asian filming venue
Chijmes is a national monument and made even more famous when CRAZY RICH ASIAN was filmed in the wedding hall. And yes, while anyone can actually hold your wedding here. You do need to be crazy rich to hold your wedding here 😂.
Chijmes names derived from Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School.
As it used to be a Catholic Covent for a girl school and orphanage.
In modern days, the venue is not open for wedding rentals and home to many restaurants and pubs. They even have lawns for visitors to laze on.
Even if you are not crazy rich, as there are no admission fees, one can just roam about the place and get transported back.
(Wedding hall is not open to public.)

Chimes with Chijmes ✨
Calm, peace, meditation + good breakfast! If you are looking for a place where you can have all of these -- no doubt Chijmes is the place!
Things to do in Chijmes:
1. Sit on the one of the greeny spot and think about whatever calms your soul so you can gear up for the day! (such a need in times like these!)
2. Dine-in at The Glasshouse! Have good breakfast and a cup of coffee! I swear everything in their menu is good and worth it! (Drink and meal cost range: 4 sgd - 20 sgd)

CHIJMES
Formerly once a girls’ school and a chapel, CHIJMES is now an enclave of nightlife spots and restaurants. With its beautiful green lawns, neoclassical building and courtyards, it’s certainly a great place to chill out after a long day!
It is also a popular Instagram spot where you can often see photographers and Instagramers gathering around the chapel building to take some good shots of the place.
Right now there’s a Christmas event going on - A Ride to An Enchanted Christmas, where there’s light shows and snowfall and a skating ring daily. Check out their website for more information on the show timings.

Chijmes and candlelight concert
📍30 Victoria Street, Singapore 187996
I bought the ticket for candlelight concert at Chijmes hall. 🎼 Candlelight concert is classic concert taken place at night in the place with a huge number of candles (fake ones for sure). It has different themes and I chose the tribute to Queen. 🤴
Chijmes is beautiful white Gothic building with long history. Chijmes Hall is used to be a church, now a function hall. ⛪️ The place is now an entertainment center, with lots of great restaurants in it. Besides, as it’s such a beautiful building, it also a popular place for photography.📷
Now that it’s near Christmas, there’re some special activities here. I saw a skate rink, a very small one. There is a Christmas light show every Friday to Sunday, no admission is needed. 🎄

Located in Chijmes. This place has a good ambience and good service.
Chimichanga 28
Crispy fried flour tortilla, suffed with grilled chicken, cheese, topped with red sauce, and drizzled with crema.
Chile Relleno 26
Fire roasted Poblano chili filled with melted cheese and grilled corn drizzle with red tomato salsa, served with arroz and frijoles. This was what I had, it’s a giant chili pepper that’s stuffed with cheese, its really good when it’s hot but once it cools down the cheese isn’t nice and stretchy anymore so make sure to eat this fast!
My friends got the sangria too as it was happy hour. Overall, a pretty decent place to have dinner and chill.
Chijmes was previously known as The Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, Victoria Street and it was my former Secondary School, a Catholic school run by the Nuns belonging to the order of the Infant Jesus congregation. After the Convent was sold to a private developer, it was converted into a retail, Food & Beverage Mall and the lovely Chapel was converted into a Music Conservatory. Private Weddings and Corporate events are often held there. It is definitely worth a visit.

Not far from our hotel, Praise Plaza is one of Singapore's historic buildings. It was originally the Catholic St. Infant's Monastery and the Goodwell House. It is also one of the few remaining convents in the world. Every corner of the Gothic church is like being in Europe. ~
Praise Square has a white church with a picture of fried chicken. It was originally thought that there will be a lot of people in the summer season, but it is also good, spiral staircase. Arches and promenades are good places to make a film! There are also many restaurants and bars in Praise Plaza, which can be played for a long time [squeezing eyes]
