The hygiene was good. It seems like there were no staff members, so probably no service either. It's a fully self-check-in experience, and for a first-timer, it was pretty good overall. The room was too small, though. We only needed it for one night since we wanted to be close to the airport, so we made do. But for a two-person vacation, the room would definitely be too tiny. Also, I just have to say, taxis in Iceland are incredibly expensive!
I booked the Aurora Hotel for my last night in Iceland because I had an early flight the next day. It's super convenient, just a five-minute walk from the airport. The room size was decent; I booked a double and it was very comfortable for one person. Returning the rental car was also a breeze, as the drop-off point is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. The only downside is that there are no supermarkets or restaurants nearby. I ended up buying pizza and drinks from the small supermarket inside the airport for dinner. Breakfast was fine, with some vegetables and fruit – enough to fill you up. Overall, its proximity to the airport is the main selling point, making it perfect for anyone with an early flight.
The room has a shared bathroom and pantry area.
- Room and bed ok The room is a bit small but sleeps comfortably. (but got to sleep for a short while because I had to get up quickly to catch the morning flight)
- When cooking, I tend to be considerate of other people. Because it also has a living area. Don't dare to cook food with strong smells.
- Shared bathrooms are few, but it's not a problem.
- The best part is being able to see the Northern Lights from the accommodation.
- Shuttle service to and from the airport is at 4500ISK/trip/1-4 people (information as of 22/9/2023)
The booking told me I would get 1 x airport transfer, once arriving I found out this was false advertising. The only reason I booked DUUS was for the transfer, so this was extremely disappointing. The hotel staff couldn’t have been less helpful, everyone just kept telling me that didn’t work there.
This apartment is super cute. We loved the decor. We had everything we needed in terms of making meals for the family. The location was a quick drive from the airport and the owners were very easy to contact. We easily recommend and/or consider staying again.
Originally, I only switched to Iceland in order to catch up with the storm and cancel the flight. People at the airport queued at the airport counter to book the hotel. I feel that if I go down this way, I am afraid I have to play at the airport. So decisively on the Ctrip query, watching the surrounding areas of the airport less and less, I almost did not seriously compare, set the four-bed family suite in seconds. When the taxi came to me in the middle of the night, my heart was still very embarrassing, and I felt that I was driving to a remote village. The morning storm stopped, the curtains were opened, and the coast dam was actually seen. There is no breakfast in the hotel, but the room has a simple kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, kettle, tableware. I walked in less than ten minutes and there is a 24-hour small supermarket, buy some milk, bread, cheese, ham, plus a travel companion. Instant noodles, children can eat very well! Did not drive, so did not ask the waiter whether there is a parking lot. I like the public leisure area here, the high frosted transparent roof, very bright! Not far from the airport, it is very comfortable to stay temporarily.
The distance from Keflavik Airport is quite a dilemma. While it's walkable, you'd be walking through a dark, unlit wilderness at night, which can be scary. I'd advise women, children, and the elderly to avoid it. If you opt for a taxi, it takes less than 5 minutes from the airport but costs around 2000 yen, which feels like a waste.
The hotel itself is fantastic, as expected from a Marriott property. The staff service is excellent, and the room and amenities are top-notch.
The only issue is the distance from the airport. It would be a great choice for those who are renting a car.
As the first stop hotel in Iceland 🇮🇸, the overall feeling is good.
Because 8/4 Check in at 8 o'clock in the morning, the front desk almost didn't let check in, because I had to check out at 11 o'clock. . →8/3 Arrived in Iceland in the morning. After that, please: have breakfast and return something.
The front desk is finally OK ... service desk service, room cleanliness, lighting, basic facilities are good, like one 👍
GGuest UserOverall, it's pretty good. What really sold me was the free shuttle to the airport in the morning. The hygiene was decent, and the room was spacious enough. The heating worked great in winter. The only downside was the showerhead; the water flow was just a trickle, which made showering a bit frustrating.
For food, there's a convenient food hall and a FoodDeli (with a small supermarket) nearby. I'd actually recommend the slightly further food hall for better taste and more options.
If you're prioritizing airport convenience, you might consider the Aurora Hotel. It's just a few hundred meters walk, super convenient. My friend booked there and could totally sleep in an extra half hour. I only found out when it was too late to change my reservation, which was a bummer.

GGuest UserSecond time staying at Start Keflavik hostel because i had great experience there. It’s near to the airport by bus/car. Bonus / Kronan supermarket are within 30 minutes walk and along the way you get to snap some nice photos of the surroundings. Staff were very friendly and helpful and i had a good chat with the Chinese lady. Very spacious, cosy and clean amenities especially the recreation room, lounge and dining hall. Guests are provided with coffee, tea and other beverages at anytime. A wonderful place highly recommended for all travellers!
GGuest UserExtremely satisfied, especially the terrace hot spring water which was very warm, and you could even see the aurora borealis while looking up. A very cost-effective stay, thumbs up to the hotel, absolutely wonderful!

GGuest UserLocation near the airport. We have a comfortable and restful stay in the cottage. The environment is so fresh, clean and quiet. There is Lupine just outside the room, a super nice view. We have a shared toilet with others, but the bathroom is so clean and spacious enough with a hair dryer, heater, shower gel and shampoo. Highly recommended!
GGuest UserBooked a brief 6-hour overnight stay to catch a few hours sleep & a shower between long flight days, was worth every penny. Got in just after midnight in late June & took a pic of the ocean from my balcony, beautiful! Everything was clean, comfortable, & the staff very nice & accommodating. Hotel only a couple of miles from the airport.
GGuest UserA lovely hotel, conveniently situated near keflavik airport..Stunning Deco, rooms were immaculate, and the spar facilities are second to none..We never used it as there was an extra cost.. Shame there was no view of the harbour. However, the sky from our room was spectacular..
Glitch on the system would not let me attach photos.
