Baggage/Personal Effects Cover

We will pay for accidental loss of or damage, occurring during the journey outside Singapore, to personal baggage, including clothing and personal belongings worn or carried on the insured person, trunks, suitcases and similar bags, photographic equipment, golfing equipment (golf clubs and bags belonging or on loan to each adult insured person) and one laptop computer and one mobile device, taken or owned by an insured person.

Jewellery (including watches, items made of precious metal or stones), laptop computer, mobile device and photographic equipment must be transported under the insured person’s care as carry-on baggage during travel on public transport as we do not cover these items for loss or damage while transported as checked-in baggage.

We may choose to pay or repair any damaged item after taking into account wear and tear and market value. We may not consider any loss in market value for electronic items bought within one year before the date of the accident if the insured person can produce evidence (for example, original receipts).

If any item is proven to be beyond economical repair, we will deal with a claim under this section as if the item has been lost.

For any loss or damage caused by public transport, accommodation or service provider, you must claim from the relevant parties first. When submitting claim to us, you must provide proof or denial of any compensation from the relevant parties.

The most we will pay for any single item, or pair or set of items is $500 We will pay a maximum of one laptop computer and one mobile device per trip. For avoidance of doubt, mobile phones are not covered.

What Is Covered

If, during the Period of Insurance, while You are on a Journey Overseas, You sustain loss or damage of Personal Property and Baggage and Money due to robbery, theft, burglary or any attempt thereof.

Additional Conditions

(a) The loss must be reported to the police or relevant authority having jurisdiction, or the transport provider where the loss occurred, within twenty-four (24) hours after the incident.
(b) Any claim must be accompanied by a copy of a police report or a report issued by the relevant authority, or a Property Irregularity Report issued by the airline evidencing such loss.
(c) The loss or damage of each article must be accompanied by proof of purchase such as but not limited to receipts, bank statements or credit card statements. If no proof of purchase is provided, We may decline the claim or accept it at a reduced value.
(d) You must take every possible safeguard to ensure the security of Your Personal Property, Baggage and Money.
(e) We will only pay for loss or damage of Your checked-in baggage that is tagged under Your name by the airline or service provider. Any claims that result from You losing Your baggage or it being damaged while being held by an airline or service provider should be made to the airline or service provider first and must be accompanied by proof of compensation received from the airline or service provider or where such compensation is denied, proof of such denial.
(f) We may make payment subject to due allowance of wear and tear and depreciation or at Our option replace or repair such articles.
(g) The indemnity for loss or damage should not be higher than the original purchase price

What We Will Pay

We will, at Our own discretion, pay, repair or reinstate up to the Benefit sub-limits or up to the maximum sum insured specified in the Benefit Schedule, subject to the terms and conditions of this Policy for:
(a) any one (1) single item or a pair or a set of items;
(b) one (1) camera or camcorder;
(c) one (1) Portable Computer;
(d) one (1) mobile phone;
(e) Money and Travel Documents.
