Adventurous Activities Cover

If the insured person suffers accidental death or injury as a result of taking part in or practising for the adventurous activities (zip-lining, bungee jumping, parasailing, sightseeing on hot-air balloon, helicopter, airplane, scuba diving, ice skating etc) for leisure and non-competitive purpose, this insurance will pay compensation based on the degree of disability to alleviate the financial burden caused by the accident.

What Is Adventurous Activities Cover?

  • MISG International Travel Insurance (Single Return Trip)

    We will pay benefits from the relevant sections of this policy if the insured person suffers accidental death or injury as a result of taking part in or practising for the following activities for leisure and non-competitive purpose, with a licensed operator and provided the insured person follows all safety and health instructions, guidelines or regulations:
    1. zip-lining, zip-riding, bungee jumping, parasailing, tandem sky diving, tandem paragliding, tandem hang gliding;
    2. sightseeing on hot-air balloon, helicopter, airplane;
    3. canoeing or white-water rafting with a qualified guide and up to Grade 3 (of International Scale of River Difficulty);
    4. jet skiing, helmet diving;
    5. scuba diving, up to the qualified depth of the insured person’s diving certification, and at all times accompanied by a qualified dive instructor or dive master and does not exceed depth of 30 metres;
    6. ice skating, tobogganing, sledging; snow tube sliding, dog sledding, snow rafting; skiing or snowboarding, snowmobiling provided these activities are not done in off piste, ungroomed, unpatrolled areas or places not recommended for beginner to intermediate users;
    7. up to 3,000m above sea level for hiking, trekking or mountaineering; or
    8. marathon (up to 42.195km)

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: The insurance provides cover for trips originating from Singapore.

  • How many days of travel will I be covered for?

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: For a one-way trip, coverage will cease after you have cleared immigration at the destination country or upon the expiry of your travel insurance, whichever is earlier. For an individual return trip, the maximum trip duration is 45 days.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: You will be covered for the period as stated in the Certificate of Insurance issued to you. For a one-way trip, the coverage period is up to 3 days per trip. For a return trip, the coverage period is up to 90 days per trip.
  • What are the age requirements for the policyholder?

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: The policyholder (also the "applicant") must be at least 18 years old on the policy application date.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: Travel Insurance by Chubb: The policyholder (the person named as the policyholder in the Certificate of Insurance) must be between 18 and 75 years old on the date that the insurance is purchased.
  • What are the age requirements for insured people?

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: Insured persons must be at least 1 month old at the start of the insurance period. Insured children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian during the travel period.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: The insured persons (persons identified as insured persons in the Certificate of Insurance) must be between 2 and 75 years old on the date that the insurance is purchased.
  • Can I take out insurance on behalf of someone else?

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: You can buy the International Travel Insurance (for Singapore residents only) for yourself, and for your relatives and friends, up to a maximum of 9 insured persons (including you) in the same application. The insured persons must travel as a group together on the same trip.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: You can buy the International Travel Insurance for yourself, and for your relatives and friends, up to a maximum of 9 insured persons (including you) in the same application. The insured persons must travel as a group together on the same trip.
  • When will my insurance coverage begin?

    MSIG International Travel Insurance: Policy is effective as soon as travel insurance is issued. Insurance coverage will commence based on the insurance period shown on your Certificate of Insurance.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: Your insurance cover will commence from the time you leave your place of residence in Singapore to go directly to the departure point, or three hours before the scheduled departure time of the carrier in which you have arranged to travel, whichever is later. The dates you are covered can be found in your Certificate of Insurance.
  • How are claims settled?

    If you want to make a claim, you need to contact the insurance company directly.
    MSIG International Travel Insurance: If you wish to file a claim, you have to do so within 30 days of the scheduled trip end date. You can submit your claim online together with all the supporting documents such as medical bills, medical report, and police report.
    Chubb International Travel Insurance: You can submit a claim online at Chubb website, within 30 days from the incident. For claim enquiries, contact Chubb at TravelClaims.SG@chubb.com or call +65 6299 0988 (Mondays to Fridays, 9.00am to 5.00pm, excluding Public Holidays).
