I chose to stay at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in Wheeling, Illinois for two several month long term stays between 2018 - 2020, as well as some short term stays during that time. The facility was clean and comfortable, even early 2020 when amenities were limited due to Covid. There were customer service difficulties with the front desk manager, Rosa. However, the one consistent professional was the Director of Sales and Marketing, Sharon Cornelius-Iles. Sharon was consistently the one with whom I went to with any problem, as she would not only resolve any issue but she would always be professional and pleasant. When a customer stays at a hotel long term, the type of customer service that Sharon provides makes returning an easy decision and those dollars add up. In returning to Wheeling for another anticipated year long stay, beginning January 9, I called Sharon, only to learn that Wyndham has sold Hawthorn effective December 29. I am looking for another hotel. Sharon is that much of a positive impact to the customer and a significant lose to Wyndham and that hotel. Peggy Rudzinski

Pros: Spacious and comfortable one-bedroom suite, quiet and convenient location, friendly staff, pleasant decor. Cons: No nearby grocery store. It's not something I say very often, but this hotel is nearly flawless. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. My one-bedroom suite was just spacious enough to feel like a small apartment with separate living and sleeping areas. My stay was four nights and I could have easily been comfortable spending another four, and another four on top of that... you get the idea. The hotel itself is quaint and warm- it doesn't have the most recent Holiday inn Express decor (which is nice) but the fireplace in the lobby and the dark wood throughout gave the property a slightly rustic look. It was a nice home-away-from-home to return to every evening. The staff was friendly and made sure to repair the toilet in the bathroom that continually ran the first night of my stay- after one day it was no longer an issue and I didn't experience any other problems throughout my stay. Speaking of bathrooms, the water pressure in the shower was exceptional. Conveniently located between trendy Wheeling, IL and I-94, the hotel's setting was quiet and I never had to travel very far to get on the way to where I was headed. My only complaint is no grocery store being in the immediate area- I feel as though I had to travel ten minutes whenever I needed something. Still, a small price to pay for such an exceptional hotel experience.

After driving for almost 3 days we checked in at the Buffalo Grove, Illinois location. We were exhausted. Mandy, the manager, made the whole procession quick and easy. The room is very clean and spacious. Mandy and her staff were quick to provide anything we needed. I hope Mandy receives recognition for her outstanding service. The staff are awesome too! I strongly believe the amazing service we received is due to Mandy's superior managerial skills. We highly recommend this Extended Stay in Buffalo Grove Illinois. We've been here 2 weeks. More than likely we will be here another 2 weeks or more while we are house hunting. Because we are happy here we are able to take our time finding our new home. Stayed here with my daughter for a weekend trip to Six Flags. Very clean and quiet hotel. Our room (suite) was just off of the lobby, but was quiet. The room temperature adjusted easily and was quiet when running. Hot shower with softened water (my hair doesn’t always do well with hotel water - this was perfect). Typical hot breakfast items that were always replenished. I previously stayed at the Hampton across the street from Six Flags and this one was far superior in cleanliness. It was around a 25 minute drive to the park. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Great experience - will stay here again.

Four Points in Buffalo Grove was a nice cosy hotel that we stayed in for 5 nights. It is a business hotel with complimentary breakfast and a bar which opens in the evening. The staff there Nancy Heather and others were very helpful and prompt when I needed print outs or supplies. There is an Indian restaurant just walking distance away which was a blessing. The room was good with tea maker and mini fridge which was a blessing as we got food packed on most of the days. The beds were very comfortable. The location is also good with supermarkets, restaurants and pharmacies nearby.

Speaking of bathrooms, the water pressure in the shower was exceptional. Conveniently located between trendy Wheeling, IL and I-94, the hotel's setting was quiet and I never had to travel very far to get on the way to where I was headed. My only complaint is no grocery store being in the immediate area- I feel as though I had to travel ten minutes whenever I needed something. Still, a small price to pay for such an exceptional hotel experience.

Staff all were nice, helpful and pleasant. The air conditioning, even when on low fan (choices are low fan, high fan and off), blows very cold regardless of the temperature. It is fine for at night when you are under a blanket but uncomfortable when sitting in the room. Furniture arrangement is strange. The air conditioning unit is in front of the window. The bed is so close to the air conditioning unit that you have to walk side ways to get to that side of the bed. That half of the room also includes a dresser + TV and a table. The half of the room away from the window has a desk and a chaise lounge but is pretty much a lot of open floor space. The toilet is so low to the floor that standing up afterwards is a little bit of a challenge. The breakfast is not up to Holiday Inn Express standards. The dry cereal I ate was stale. They do not have hard-boiled eggs and they provide mini bagels, not full sized, and they have no taste, We never saw any information about things to do or places to eat in the vicinity.

Pros: Spacious and comfortable one-bedroom suite, quiet and convenient location, friendly staff, pleasant decor. Cons: No nearby grocery store. It's not something I say very often, but this hotel is nearly flawless. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. My one-bedroom suite was just spacious enough to feel like a small apartment with separate living and sleeping areas. My stay was four nights and I could have easily been comfortable spending another four, and another four on top of that... you get the idea. The hotel itself is quaint and warm- it doesn't have the most recent Holiday inn Express decor (which is nice) but the fireplace in the lobby and the dark wood throughout gave the property a slightly rustic look. It was a nice home-away-from-home to return to every evening. After driving for almost 3 days we checked in at the Buffalo Grove, Illinois location. We were exhausted. Mandy, the manager, made the whole procession quick and easy. The room is very clean and spacious. Mandy and her staff were quick to provide anything we needed. I hope Mandy receives recognition for her outstanding service. The staff are awesome too! I strongly believe the amazing service we received is due to Mandy's superior managerial skills. We highly recommend this Extended Stay in Buffalo Grove Illinois. We've been here 2 weeks. More than likely we will be here another 2 weeks or more while we are house hunting. Because we are happy here we are able to take our time finding our new home. I chose to stay at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in Wheeling, Illinois for two several month long term stays between 2018 - 2020, as well as some short term stays during that time. The facility was clean and comfortable, even early 2020 when amenities were limited due to Covid. There were customer service difficulties with the front desk manager, Rosa. However, the one consistent professional was the Director of Sales and Marketing, Sharon Cornelius-Iles. Sharon was consistently the one with whom I went to with any problem, as she would not only resolve any issue but she would always be professional and pleasant. When a customer stays at a hotel long term, the type of customer service that Sharon provides makes returning an easy decision and those dollars add up. In returning to Wheeling for another anticipated year long stay, beginning January 9, I called Sharon, only to learn that Wyndham has sold Hawthorn effective December 29. I am looking for another hotel. Sharon is that much of a positive impact to the customer and a significant lose to Wyndham and that hotel. Peggy Rudzinski

Older hotel in an office park. Nothing disqualifying or egregious about his property, it’s just not up to what should be expected from a Marriott. On the positive side, the unit is sizable — the living area accommodates a queen size sleeper sofa and a desk, the double queen bedroom also has a small sitting area. The bathroom does not make good use of space. It has a full tub and a separate walk-in shower, but there’s not much space in the latter and if feels cramped. There are sliding doors between the shower area and the vanity/sink area and between the bedroom and the vanity/sink area. The way these are hung, they make a lot of noise when closed or opened- pretty annoying when traveling with kids. The carpet in the room was stained and the outside of the windows were about as dusty and grimy as I have seen in an office park Marriott. The kids liked the buffet breakfast, which is sort of a higher end version of what you get at Residence Inns — eggs/bacon/sausage/potatoes, plus a waffle maker. It was free for us due to Marriott status; I don’t know that it’s worth the twenty dollars they are charging for it otherwise. The staff at the restaurant was friendly.
