I had a three night stay in this pub hotel, situated close to the train station and only a five minute walk to the town centre. Check in was friendly and efficient - the receptionist was very helpful in assisting me with transport information. My room was clean, with a skylight window, and nice refreshments. The bathroom was small, but clean. The shower was adequate but the sink was too small and there was no hot water during my stay - I was told the bathroom was due an overhaul. Breakfast was fresh and well presented (both self-service and table-served). I had some issues with accessing WiFi as my room was some distance from the router, but WiFi worked well in the breakfast room and the bar. There were lots of choices of bars, cafes and restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel (I'd highly recommend Coull's and Audela) and it was easy to walk to the tourist sites in the area. In general shops don't open early and many in the town were closed on Wednesday afternoon. Bus services were good and I was easily able to explore the Northumberland coast.

Warm welcome greets you at this hotel. We only stayed one evening but it was clean and comfortable. Perhaps a bit of TLC would enhance the room but it met our needs. We ate our evening meal in the hotel which was delicious and value for money. The breakfast was amazing and definitely set us up for the day Saturday night is disco night which was a bit loud for us but it stops at 11pm Give the hotel a try you won’t be disappointed
