Coco Grove Beach Resort, Siquijor Island

San Juan|2.11km from downtown
LOVED our stay at Coco Grove. We are not fans of large resorts, but this is an exception. Even though our first 2 nights the resort was full we did not feel like there were lots of people. The property is huge, villas and rooms are spread out amidst lush tropical foliage, there are 3 different & good sized pools in different areas. 3 food outlets. A decently equipped gym. A nice gift shop that doesn’t mark up the items exorbitantly—we found it very reasonable. Very well planned resort. Staff are just lovely—very sweet, attentive and helpful. Everyone. From drivers, front office, restaurants, spa, cleaners, gardeners, guards, lifeguards—all really just genuinely nice. I greatly appreciate how the staff are kind to animals too. Went to the Spa 3 nights for massage—ask for joy—I had one of the best aromatherapy massages from her (2 nights—my first and last; the masseuse I had the other night was mediocre). And if you prefer hard massages ask for a Swedish deep tissue massage from Fretzel, she was excellent according to my partner. We stayed in an ocean villa. Very spacious with a good sized bathroom with separate shower and bath tub too. There are also shelves and closets to hang clothes. Rooms are cleaned daily which we appreciate (if you don’t want yours cleaned daily let them know when you check in). It was wonderful having the beach & sea “at your doorstep.” Our stay was very peaceful. The Sanctuary Villas are at the opposite end, near the spa and in a bit more private area, we’ll probably request that for next time. there isn’t anything wrong with the Ocean villas (which are near the dive center) it’s just there was more foot traffic in the area than in the sanctuary. Internet is good in some areas and weak to none in others. Food is ok, portions are good. Decent selection for breakfast. For vegetarians the vegetable curry in Salanandas is good, Thai inspired better than at the Beach Bar. The fries and the stir fried vermicelli noodles w vegetables at the Beach Bar were better than the fries and the vegetarian pancit (these noodles were thicker) at Salamandas. Don’t forget to say hi to Macky, their rescued Brazilian Parrot We’ll be back, coco Grove is on our list of favorite beach resorts!

Royal Cliff Resort

Royal Cliff Resort

I normally do a pretty good job of scouting out the reviews and picking a place to stay; however, I feel like I didn’t do very well this time. I was looking for something close to the Marine park and this place met those requirements. Cute cabin, quick to respond through Booking, great beach access and good snorkeling, close to many restaurants along the road. A couple chairs to sit on and a nice bench was part of the interior. The sunsets are beautiful but make sure you bring bug lotion. Nice signs to warn you that the coconuts might fall on your head. Thankfully the room had a fan to move the air at night. Small bottles of water and soft drinks in frudge to purchase. There is a nice grocery store just past the yummy Napoli Caffee where you can get drinks and snacks. The owner is very nice and the staff is very pleasant. While the unit was OK, the mattress was just a 3” well used foam pad on a wooden bed platform (two twin foam pads). So, no great sleeps over the 5 nights. No hot water (but it is tolerably cool), toilet seat was not secured to the toilet (but it was chained), no shampoos and just one little bar of soap for the sink and shower. No hair dryer for those of you that need one daily. Bath towels should have been replaced about a year ago and no hand towels (unless requested multiple times) or wash cloths. The pillows are some type of lumpy foam chunks - but at least it wasn’t flat as a pancake (throw pillows look like they have never been cleaned). When we needed to they were never around, so ask before about 5pm if you need something. Yes, they sweep the leaves but maintenance is lacking. Walkways are overcrowded by plants and they are very slick when it rains - be cautious. Internet is abysmal (best at the “Park your broom” sign). No fresh water shower to knock off the sand after you snorkel. We were there 5 nights (booked for 6 but the weather caused a delay) and our room was never serviced. We had a clothesline with us so we were able to hang the towels every day to dry. Would have been nice to at least had the unit swept once and a towel refresh and the rubbish bin on the front porch emptied (this would reduce their ant issue). We had coffee a couple times in the morning but went next door to República to eat-breakfast and dinner (fantastic food) - and they have free 5g wifi. We only saw a couple of people eating breakfast here and never saw anyone having dinner. If your budget is tight, then this place would be fine. This is about a 2 star hotel - not a resort. Note: we did speak with the owner as we were leaving to share our concerns. She claimed we should have had fresh towels each day and refresh is by request. Supposedly they also keep a stack of fresh towels at the kitchen area. We never saw them but they could have been there. We suggested they provide an info sheet in each room regarding their services that they provide- not an impossible task since they only have 6 rooms.

Aloha Seaside Resort

San Juan|3.04km from downtown
Aloha Seaside Resort Address = Lalao San Juan 6227 Siquijor I stayed 7 days and another 3 days = 10 days in total. I “asked” for a quiet room….they gave me a room #7, were the are building more cottages. It is noisy with a lot of hammering & drilling. The construction workers work 8:00 to 17:00. Then they're off! Thank the “invisible person in the sky.” The Aloha Grill & Restobar is 5” walk down the street on the ocean side. I booked with “someone” & have planned to stay here one week. My room has; air-con/remote, free wi-fi, flat-screen TV with “75” channels of which “25” are in English (History, Outdoor, Discovery, NG, Eurosport, CN, CNN, BBC, 3 Fox Movies, 4 HBO Movies, AXN, NBA, TV6, CMX, DIVA, MTV, Sony, Jack & Al Jazeera), unfortunately with NO USB connection (I “thought” all flat-screen TVs had an USB plug-in; I guess NOT) BUT (They gave me something to play MY own personal music, some kind of “thingy”. NICE!) a small desk, a small table, memory foam mattress, lockable closet & I requested a mini-fridge which they said they had none BUT they brought me one anyway! Good! It is hot in Asia, right? The bathroom has 2 soaps, 2 shampoo packets, tissue & 2 towels. The resort ran out of water THREE my 2nd day there; they had to fill up the water tank-10 minutes. NO WAY; no water since 17:30. NO it is 18:36! It IS now > than 2 hours & NOT 1 drop of water. BOO! They ran out of water my third day; water is on after scuba diving and NOT on after dinner. Turned it on = okay. There IS a problem with the water at this place. SOLUTION= Make it automatic….put some float in the water tank...when the float goes down to “this” level automatically it fills up….then when the float goes towards the top it automatically shuts off! Solution = Solved! The resort does do laundry (60 PHP/kilo), rents motorbikes (350 PHP/day). They also have a water-filling station where ‘you the people’ can fill up your used plastic water bottles for free instead of buying more plastic water bottles. I WISH EVERYBODY DID THIS! The people are very friendly & accommodating.

Kalachuchi Beach Resort

Coco can't book it. I don't think it can be called a resort here. It is actually a six-bedroom homestay, not worth the price. The ants and mosquitoes rebelled in the house that stayed the first night. The bathroom was blocked by water and the toilet was blocked. There was no waiter after eight in the evening. Until dawn, fortunately, there was room available. Fall asleep. Wi-Fi only has a strong signal in a pavilion in the grass. It is called an ”Internet cafe” and cannot be received in the room. Commenting that the hotel has a beach, abandoned the Infiniti Heights Hotel, and found that the beach was difficult to say, as shown in the figure. Later I went to Infiniti for lunch, a little regretful to give up. The only thing that felt good was the hotel meals, which were really great and I liked the chef! It ’s delicious and beautiful with your eyes closed! Baton! Burrito is super recommended! Overall, sober. I sincerely ask everyone to comment some more true and appropriate!

It feels like a very new resort, next to the beach in the south and a well-known local bar in the west. The environment in the room is super good and the rooms are very large. Each room has a set of outdoor tables and chairs, clothes rails, a swimming pool in the middle. , And you can watch the sunset. It's just that the Internet isn't working. The entire Siquijor Island hotel, even if the coco network is not good, collapses.

It's the third time I've stayed here, conveniently located a few kilometres from Siquijor, Dumanhog is nice and quiet overnight, the staff are friendly and all speak English if you can't speak Bisaya or Tagalog,we like it because of it central location to our friends and family on the island, if you need help to hire a motorcycle or get a taxi the staff will be able to help you,we had a great stay and intend to be back again.

Travelled yesterday to Siquijor, and unfortunately, the hotel I booked is 45 minutes away from the port. I found this haven online. I went there and luckily there's one more room available (20 mins away from the port) Surprisingly, the room is in front of the beach!!! sliding doors made of glass made it much fantastic. They just have fan rooms, and electricity interruption on a daily basis for only 15 minutes. They have wifi at the bar and resto but phone's reception is not good here. If you're looking for a place to relax and get away from a stressful city, this spot is perfect. To make it 5, hopefully they'll have rice meals that's good for one pax only. Food are really good, except the weird sinigang (pork tamarind soup) with carrots haha. Staff are friendly, especially ate in the morning taking care of the restaurant. They know English, tagalog and their dialect. Overall I am happy and wanting to be back there again soon. :)

Stayed 4 nights in bungalow with Mountain View. We were walk-ins. Something went wrong with our online reservation but they were able to accommodate us. Gary, Cristy and manager Gretchen were very good hosts. The resort has an infinity pool, full bar, modern decor rooms and a good menu. I rate most places on the quality of their towels. I see this as the only thing to improve but everything else more than made up for it. Gary and Cristy are amateur musicians like myself. Tho we did not have much playing in common, its always great fun to share songs and interest. Would love to return
