The hotel is dated in parts and our room was a little tired although it was a superior room we overlooked wasteland and nort a sunny sea view we expected. However, the room was clean and the public areas spacious The staff were friendly and reception efficient

Couple ages 62/56. One week all inclusive+ January 2024. First visit to this hotel, which was recommended by our travel agent. Weather here in January can be varied. We had 17-22 degrees during our week, with some cloud some days. Hotel does some things very very well, but could improve on some things. Check in was quick and we were pleasantly surprised when we were told our room had been upgraded to a suite. The entrance is very large and grand, but as it sits on a hill, reception is on the third floor. Once you get the layout worked out, navigating around the hotel is reasonably easy. Our suite consisted of a living room with tv ( massive), bedroom (massive) with TV and bed (both massive). A walk-in wardrobe off the living area and a spa bath with shower in the bathroom . Mini bar with beer, wine and soft drinks and spirits all topped up daily. All very clean and functional, but silly things like 1980s sliding doors and blackout curtains that jam just before they fully block the sunlight just take the shine off. All inclusive+, gets a few benefits. Exclusive lounge, area in restaurant, 1 visit to a la carte and a very impressive selection of wine and spirits and mixers. Very unusual to get fever tree tonic on all inclusive. The buffet food for us was the biggest let down. Food choices were what most buffets supply, but only just warm. Standing waiting for fresh supplies coming out is not how I want to spend meal times. The wine however was superb. Our night at the a La carte wasn't much better. Food a little warmer, but not a great choice. The prestige lounge was excellent. All the drinks you could ever want, plus sandwiches and snacks. Even a PlayStation and some PCs. To sum up, room..good. sleep quality..good. drinks .. very good. Entertainment... good. Food..poor. Spa...good. And , if you can afford it, go prestige..... You won't regret it if you enjoy a drink.

Lovely hotel. Great food and service very good. Entertainment varied and was ok however ended a little too early. Great value for all inclusive. Great for a couples/family relaxing holiday. Free shuttle bus to Puerto del Carmen that we used once.

We visited as a family with 2 rooms. They were nice though could have been cleaner with dust in corners and under units. The air con was very basic it was either on or off with no temeperature control just 3 fan speeds. The bathroom was nice with a powerful rainfall shower option. Safe costs extra and kettles can be hired for a deposit. They did give us a bottle of cava in our room for my birthday which was kind and very appreciated. The location was okay for us as we could manage the walk to the marina however for those less mobile the hill is a bit steep. Also a walk to Puerto Del Carmen is manageble with sensible footwear but not pram friendly. The views from the hotel are lovely on a nice day. There are 3 good size pools with varying depths for different ability swimmers. Toddlers pool was good for our young children. They have a good kids club aswell in the day and the animation team are all lovely. They have a kids disco but it's at 9.15pm it's too late for young kids at that time for us, it only lasts 15minutes and it's the same every night. One of the restaurants is closed for refurbishment which we were aware of but our booking operator said there were still 2 open but there wasn't. It looked like one was reserved for meetings or weddings. Normally in 4* AI resorts you have at least one a la carte visit to a restaurant but this wasn't an option here. This led to the food being very repetitive and boring, sometimes the fresh hot food was only lukewarm. There are 2 pool bars but no cocktail menu on display only the ready mixed cocktail of the day. When I asked for a pina cocktail I was told I couldn't have it. Some of the waiting staff were lovely and greeted us kindly but I'd say 60% of them were miserable as sin and could barely force a smile. They do seem to treat the prestige guests with more courtesy. This seems to be an issue in some other places we visited aswell though it may be a general attitude on the Island. Also we felt like some of the clientele looked at us like dirt if our 8 month old baby dared to make a noise....side note if you don't like children choose an adults only resort. The gym has very limited and in some cases damaged equipment. But was okay as a put me on. Would we visit again....as a family I'd say probably not which is a shame. As a solo or couple then I'd probably go for a short break. Shouldn't really comment on the spa as we didn't visit but the water looked a bit grimey and was a bit whiffy when I walked past to use the gym.

hotel is huge and well kept. Views are amazing... The food on the other hand is diabolical. Presentation wasn't there and it was barely warm and the cutlery isn't cleaned properly. One evening I found a seat and was told I couldn't sit there as it was for prestige guests. Seating looked no different and everyone was eating the same slop. Costa Calero you need help in the food arena... a new head chef. Fortunately there are some lovely restaurants you can eat at a nearby. For a 4* hotel.... you need to up your game. They also have wedding services.... but with that level of catering service.... that would be embarrassing! Would I go again, yes! But that's purely because of the views..... and it would be room only so I could dine out and have decent food.

Had a wonderful stay at Costa Calero. We went for the all inclusive option. The food was varied and fresh. The staff were friendly. There was plenty of choice of drinks. The room was spotless. The view from the piano bar was stunning. Pool facilities and evening entertainment was great. The spa was gorgeous (though the hats were a bit silly) and the location was perfect. A couple of points of note, there wasn’t ironing or tea and coffee facilities in our room and the wifi was down for the duration of our stay. Other than that, totally recommend this hotel for an easy carefree break.

Once again our holiday experience at the Calero was excellent. Most of the rooms have now been refurbished and the main restaurant refurbishment will be complete in July along with the remaining rooms. The staff remain excellent and recently recruited staff appear to be encouraged to follow suite as they are mentored by many of the staff who have been part of the team for years. The food remains very good both in terms of variety and choice. This is despite a slightly more limited scope in the pool restaurant during the main resturant refurbishment. I have read several suggestions as to recent poor offerings of food however I would challenge those who suggestt this as it’s as good as I can recall over the past 10 years. I often wonder what some people eat at home as I’m sure the hotels’s offering is much more comprehensive and it’s on tap for most of the day. Generally we found circa 10-12 main course options at dinner and circa 8 at lunch, not forgetting generous offerings at breakfast. Im sure the new kitchens and restaurant will further enhance that on offer. Once again the hotel and its pools/pool areas were spotless as was our room with a plentiful supply of drinking water each day. Entertainment could at times be better but getting quality acts must be hard and I’ve heard worse. The animation team work hard to offer a variety of activities during the day without being in your face. The location of the hotel has always been a plus for me with its proximity to the marina with its water taxi to Carmen along with a few nice bars and restaurants should you wish an evening out from the hotel. All in all a favourable experience and no need to elect to upgrade to Prestige from All Inclusive unless you wish to inflate your ego 😂
