We stayed at the Royal Neptun for 1 week, it is 1 of 3 hotels forming a complex - Neptun is a 4 star and the other 2, 5 star and we could definitely see the difference. The highs, the location is outstanding, the walk along the promenade to the bars and restaurants, superb. The roof top bar and pool, amazing place to have drinks and watch the sunset, the pizzas in ‘on the rocks bar’ yummy, food and setting in Zoe was well worth the money, and the massage in the spa was one of the best I’ve had. So why only 3 stars: we checked in, other guests checking in were offered support with their luggage which we weren’t, maybe only for the 5 star, we didn’t mind but just noticeable. We walked into our room, first sight clean and tidy but then started to notice the red and white stains on the carpet, broken shower and safe, bathroom door sort of fixed. Breakfast was not a pleasant experience at all, it is not big enough for the size of the hotel, lots and lots of people walking around looking for tables, no management overseeing the flow of customers, staff moral appeared low, no one was smiling, would pass and not acknowledge you, when trying to attract attention it was like they looked through you and go in a different direction. Food ran out very quickly, all meats, cheeses etc were not covered and I could see the flies landing on it, the queue for omelettes was at least 10mins so big gathered all around where other guests were trying to eat. Pool area, as this is a family hotel was really surprised to see glass being used, 1 time were saw a glass break and a little boy cut his foot and second a wine glass broke and the stem ended up in the pool - no one was asked to leave whilst it was cleaned. This hotel has the making of amazing place to stay so hoping this feedback will help make the tweaks it’s needs.

Fantastic hotel couldn’t fault it. The views alone are worth the stay. Rooms very spacious and cozy, great shower and good variety of toiletries. In total think there’s 8 pools over the 5 hotels. We enjoyed the pool bar at the royal blue amazing views of the islands. My only regret not booking a sea view it’s a must. Breakfast was great I had omelette most days but there was a great variety of fruit, salads breads meats and fish as well as cereal and some hot food. Hotel was very clean and staff don’t mither you if you just want to sit without a drink. Didn’t have any meals in the hotel but the food did look nice. Everybody who enters the hotel is wowed by the views we will definitely be back. Dubrovnik itself has such a chilled vibe we loved it

When shown the room I enquired if it could possibly be changed. The outlook was grim, over the kitchens which was noisy and there was a strong smell of food. We changed to a much better room the next day. Breakfast was O.K but the evening meal was basic. Pudding was the same every night, cut up fruit, a blancmange type of pudding or small pastry squares. On really hot days a scoop of ice-cream would have been perfect. We decided to eat out one evening and asked if we could swop dinner for lunch. Lunch was actually much cheaper but they said it was not allowed. There was no negotiation which was bad P.R. as most hotels will do this. The cheapest bottle of wine was 30 euros which I thought excessive. On the plus side, Ljuba, the cleaner on floor one was very good, friendly and looked after us very well. The hotel was just over the road from a pleasant beach which was very good for swimming. The hotel pool was very good and in September we always found a sunbed. I think that they need to be a bit more imaginative with the evening meal to ensure that clients return.

Nice clean modern hotel situated a few minutes walk from the marina. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed, although the pillows were a bit on the soft side for me. The Nespresso machine for a coffee in your room was a very nice touch. The bathroom was very clean, with a walk in shower, but the only toiletries provided were a squeezy bottle of shower gel, and a similar dispenser of soap by the hand basin. A little bit of conditioner, or lotion would have been nice. Breakfast is a help yourself buffet affair, with a very good varied selection fruit, cereals, cheese, cold meats, along with eggs, bacon sausages etc. Would be happy to stay there again

It’s so over, the sea view is super beautiful, and you can watch the sunset at night. Although the dinner is a bit expensive, it is very delicious. In fact, it is more expensive than the ancient city, but the restaurant on the other side of the ancient city is not comparable to the taste here. There is a bus to the old town at the entrance of the hotel, which is very convenient.

This hotel's main fault was it had bad air conditioning. We called for help and ours worked fairly well but others in our group had issues with the heat in their rooms. We had a dinner buffet which was so so without many choices of food nor very tasty food but the dining area was pleasant. We had a nice view from our room which could see the sea in the distance. And the walk to the old town section of Dubrovnik was fairly easy down hill. There was a bus #4 to get back up the hill to the hotel from the nearby square where the Pile Gate access is located. You first buy a ticket at the little kiosk across from where the bus picks you up for just under 2 euros. The hotel's pool had delightfully cool water.

My fiancé and I visited for 4 nights as he was taking part in the Dubrovnik triathlon. We booked with EasyJet Holidays and had a private transfer to and from the airport. Our driver both ways was excellent. On the journey into Dubrovnik he stopped at a viewpoint so that we could see the Old Town for the first time. Our driver on the way back to the airport told us more of the local area that we had started to see. First impressions of the hotel were really good. Impressive entrance and lobby area. The bedroom had a beautiful view of the sea, the nearer islands and the distant coastline. The room had a good sized wardrobe with hangers. There was a well stocked minibar if you want that kind of thing and what we thought was a welcome bottle of wine but actually had a sign next to it to say it was part of the display and chargeable. There are no drawers in the room so for a couple staying longer than we did, there is inadequate storage. The bathroom is stocked with nice shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, shower gel and body lotion. The pool area was clean but we only used the inside pool which was on the top floor which was a lovely space. The pool temperature said 27 degrees but was very cold. The jacuzzi was really nice as was the sauna and steam room! The reason for a low rating given that this is advertised as a 5 star hotel was the food, especially the evening meal, which was dreadful !! The breakfast was passable but I’ve eaten in better cafés !!! The restaurant was open until 10pm and one night we got there at 8.30 pm and the second time 9pm so nowhere near the end of service. We had to attract attention to order drinks. There is very little choice for starters. There were piles of soup bowls but no soup. The main course consisted of mostly overcooked meat or small bits of fish. The ‘veg’ last night was a choice of a pea slop in some form of gravy, a beetroot risotto that had no moisture and no taste and either potato pie or what I would call a hash brown. My fiancé and I got a selection of desserts as we’d hardly eaten anything and absolutely nothing had any taste or moisture - no ice cream, cream or custard available. Not even a cheese board and crackers. A really nice touch (not !) is that absolutely no one comes near to clear away dirty plates after each course and therefore you end up with a pile of leftovers and crockery in the middle of your table. Not a good thing at all !! The location of the hotel is very good and the No. 4 bus stops right outside and takes about 15 minutes to get to Pile and the entrance to the old town. (Get the Dubrovnik Pass which not only gives access to the City Walls and museums but also gives free bus travel). We ended up eating out twice because of the food and thank goodness we did; on a recommendation from a friend we went to the Panorama restaurant on our first night which is at the top of the cliff accessible via cable car - stunning views ! First impression as we drove up, the building is very large and not that attractive, however the gardens are attractive. A long review but I hope this gives visitors an accurate picture of what to expect. I arrived at the hotel at about noon but my room was not ready so I went to the bar area for lunch. Food in the hotel is quite expensive - at least the same as UK prices if not more, I had a Caesar salad and cold drink for about £20. My room was ready at just after 1. I chose this hotel as it was billed as four star. However they obviously did not spend time during lockdown on decorating and refreshing the rooms which were quite tired looking. I am not sure what makes it four star as there was not much to make this hotel stand out. One of the lifts down to the main restaurant was out of service and stuck on the 4th floor for my entire stay, with no apparent attempts to fix it. Plus points - the bed was large and comfortable; there was enough hanging space; it was reasonably clean; there was a kettle and mugs with tea, coffee and sugar, however no milk for tea was provided to guests, just sachets of coffee creamer. I did request milk and the tiniest of jugs was provided. The WiFi is good - which goes someway to making up for the lack of TV. Minus points - there is apparently no digital TV in Croatia, so the 12 channels that the TV in my room was tuned into were via aerial. There were three in English language - BBC World News, CNN and Bloomberg. There appeared to be entertainment channels in German and Italian so I am not sure why, in a hotel frequented by UK guests with TUI, Newmarket Holidays and Jet2, they cannot find any entertainment channels in English. The TV was not new enough to allow for screen mirroring / chrome casting so I watched my iPad when I wanted to watch anything, as the WiFi was good enough to allow for this. Many people visiting will be visiting with friends, but for some solo travellers a decent TV service is a must. While the bathroom was clean with a large shower (no bath) the water temperature in the shower varied between scalding and freezing without me touching the tap at all. Additionally the towels were threadbare and slightly grey looking. There was daily cleaning but the bed linen did not appear to have been changed during my stay at all, apart from the pillow cases. I had opted for half board and my first meal there was the buffet dinner. There are several stations but no one to explain what the options were. There were a lot of choices, pasta dishes, meats including chicken, daily roast, steaks, salads, cold fish/meats. But none of it was particularly tasty or appetising. Triumph of quantity over quality. A real criticism of the dinner service is that they will not serve you tap water - if you want to drink anything it has to be bought, including water. Our TUI tour rep had already mentioned that the tap water in Croatia is drinkable, so this decision by the hotel management is inexplicable and appears

The hotel is close to the sea but far from the old city. You can take the non-stop No. 6 bus to the terminal. The environment is beautiful. The buffet price is acceptable, but the seafood is not enough. It is a good place for sunbath and relaxation.
