In order to let the children play in the snow and soak in hot springs in winter, I chose this hot spring hotel. The tatami room is spacious, and the guests' beds are made before dinner, which is very considerate and relaxing. It is worth coming again.

We sang karaoke with the family and relaxed in the bath. Above all, the room had a great view of Mt. Tanigawa and was very calming. I also stayed here at the end of the year. I loved the open-air crystal bath (a big, rustic barrel bath). There was a river flowing right next to it, and it felt like we were in the mountains, so it was a very charming and comfortable time. Thank you very much.

I was satisfied because there were many types of baths in the large public bath. However, although you can see the river from the balcony, the balcony was in such bad condition that I didn't feel like going outside. I had enjoyed the hot spring town a few years ago when I stayed at another hotel nearby, so I was looking forward to going there again this time, but I was very disappointed to find that all three amusement centers were closed. Two of them are out of business, and one seems to close at 6pm.

Even though I stayed there for one night with my family, the service was the worst at Kinkaku, which is not cheap. The private open-air bath is dirty and shaky, and the foreigners are very kind, but the employees use the same toilet as the guests and leave without washing their hands.T^TThe food and everything else is disappointing. did. Nothing to see other than the exterior

Service, hot springs and food are all good. Although the building is a bit old, the sanitation is very good. In general, it has a special sense of time, which can leave people with memories.

Not enough staff for the number of customers. Friendly staff. It's too late to serve a drink. Poor food for the high price. Not satisfied at all

There were 3 baths, and there were about 3 types of baths in them, and the baths were very good. The room was a Japanese-style room, but the back of the legless chair was worn out and the sofa looked old, which was a bit disappointing. I don't think it was cheap at all. Dinner didn't take long even after ordering drinks, probably because there weren't enough staff. The foreign trainees were very polite,

I want to echo Kate M.’s review from a few months ago, especially as I found its age to be rather charming! My single night here had me wishing I booked for a longer stay to take advantage of what this place had to offer! After seeing how much the explosion in tourism numbers have pushed up hotel rates around the Kanto region (especially for the weekend I was there!) I decided to explore further afield and found myself here. I ended up upgraded to a river view room which provided beautiful views of the gorge and the town across the gorge. As with typical Japanese-style rooms, I would find the futons laid out by housekeeping and ready to go once I’d arrive back from the dinner that was a more traditional affair while breakfast was the typical buffet spread but with local dishes and ingredients as well as Western options. I was only able to try one onsen (Okutone Hachiyu) which was refreshing, though unfortunately it seemed that the outdoor section of the bath was closed when the onsen first opened for the day. I guess it’s all the more reason to return! As expected, the staff were wonderful and truly made me feel welcome despite being what appeared to be the only foreign guest staying there that night. I definitely appreciated the shuttle van they offered that would connect either with Minakami Station or Jomo-Kogen and was able to coordinate pickup times in English with both Japanese and international staff ready to help with any questions leading up to and during the stay. I’d definitely come back here if I somehow find my way back to the area as one night truly didn’t do justice for this amazing property!

While some people may not like the age of this hotel and its sometimes threadbare appearance we thought it added to the magic and mystique of this place. Perched above the Tone river, this grand dame of a hotel looks over a fairytale scene of mountains, river and a Japanese village. The Japanese style room was spacious and comfortable - we both had one of the best sleeps of our trip here. Everyone made us feel welcome and the food was incredible. I highly recommend both dinner and breakfast. And then there’s the onsens. What a treat. I sat listening to the river and watching the snow from a beautiful pool and there were so many types to choose from. I love this place and want to go back to explore more of the country around it.

Zazan Minakami Former Minakami Ryokan. It is a large inn and the facilities and equipment are getting old, but you can enjoy 15 hot springs, including Bokusui-no-Yu, Suisho-no-Yu, and Okutone Hachito. Bokusui-no-Yu and Suisho-no-Yu have architecture that evokes the era of large inns, which is hard to find these days. The portions of food were just right for elderly people. As it is a large inn, the renovation is expected to be quite expensive, and it seems that they are saving money by leaving the old facilities as they are in terms of maintenance costs, but the rooms are spacious, you can enjoy a variety of hot springs, the food is just right, the staff are polite, including foreigners, and they offer free coffee and tea, so we were satisfied.

I stayed here on an overnight trip with a friend. The hospitality of the staff was wonderful. The staff from overseas in particular were smiling and very friendly. The bath was spacious and relaxing. We also had a leisurely and delicious dinner. Thank you, Dolga-san:)
